RoverRich Posted March 1, 2009 Posted March 1, 2009 I was actually willing Bentley to miss that penalty and he didn't let me down! Didn't even hit the target - absolutely shocking!

RibbleValleyRover Posted March 1, 2009 Posted March 1, 2009 The grass isn't always greener on the other side Bents Out of the England setup and looking a shadow of the player he was, i wonder if he could go back in time would he have done things differently... The Rovers curse has struck again.
1864roverite Posted March 1, 2009 Posted March 1, 2009 Todays cup final result and the manner in which it has ended may just be the closing of curtians for Spurs. players are tired. players are demoralised in defeat. players have picked up injuries. all confidence is soaked out of them. A midweek game is what they dont need especially after such a defeat. Could be a very bad few weeks for thing s down at White Hart Lane. As for David Bentley ? I just cannot feel a shred of sympathy for you you weasel
Presty On Tour Posted March 1, 2009 Posted March 1, 2009 Never pick an English man to take a penalty in a shoot out. Hate seeing Man Utd winning but Bentley missing makes it bitter sweet!
Backroom DE. Posted March 1, 2009 Backroom Posted March 1, 2009 Unlucky Bents I'm not sure why everyone is saying Spurs run in is that bad: Boro (Home) Sunderland (away) Villa (away) Chelsea (Home) Blackburn (away) - HUGE game West Ham (Home) Newcastle (Home) Man Utd (away) West Brom (Home) Everton (away) Man City (Home) Liverpool (away) They'll pick up enough points from that to survive IMO. Newcastle are FAR worse off and in deep trouble. Awful result for them today annoying to see Stoke pick up a point against a stuttering Villa side but we're out of the drop zone so forget that for now.
TimmyJimmy Posted March 1, 2009 Posted March 1, 2009 No Jack Dee, Sodding-Typical is the village you were born in, it just describes our season. Great win at Hull, we do our stuff but Middlesbrough & Stoke scab results against sides that should have butchered them. When do we catch a break? Still, on the up side we're out the bottom three and we just have to match their results from here on in (WBA are already down). Irritated by happy!

Newcastle lost, thats definately a result in our favour, and a draw for Stoke won't be enough alone to save them. Boro and Spurs will be veryyyy interesting.

We started the weekend in the bottom 3, we end it above it, surely results have gone our way to an extent? Win our game in hand and it's looking good

Win our game in hand and it's looking good I'm looking at it as we are now in joint 19th place. We are clear of the zone but only by 3 goals, I think. With better luck we would have been 3 points clear had Liverpool and Villa turned up. Sodding Typical. But hey, you're right, got to be thankful for small mercies. We definitely are out the bottom 3 so happy days.

If we do our stuff it doesn't matter what anyone else does. It's only if we don't perform ourselves and need a favour from elsewhere it becomes a consideration. And if we're reduced to that state we don't really deserve to stay up.

dingles staying down 4ever Posted March 2, 2009 Posted March 2, 2009 I'm looking at it as we are now in joint 19th place. We are clear of the zone but only by 3 goals, I think. We definitely are out the bottom 3 so happy days. look at it this way. Boro beat a top 4 side and are still end the weekend in the bottom 3. We've dragged another team into the dogfight and are out of the bottom 3. Things are looking up compared to this time yesterday.
Eddie Posted March 2, 2009 Posted March 2, 2009 Other sides' results are largely irrelevant. If we do our stuff it doesn't matter what anyone else does. It's only if we don't perform ourselves and need a favour from elsewhere it becomes a consideration. And if we're reduced to that state we don't really deserve to stay up. Yep, that's the key now. If we do our job we stay up, it's as simple as that. I can't see Boro knocking 5 past someone to make up the goal difference, so as long as we pick up points in the places that we should we'll be fine. This Everton game is huge though. A win here would really have the other teams feeling the pressure.
riverside returns Posted March 3, 2009 Posted March 3, 2009 This weeks midweek games are going to be pivotal Game Lawro Predicts West Brom v Arsenal 0 - 2 Portsmouth v Chelsea 1 - 2 Liverpool v Sunderland 2 - 0 City v Villa 1 - 1 Newcastle v Utd 0 - 2 Stoke v Bolton 1 - 1 Wigan v West Ham 2 - 0 Rovers v Everton 2 - 2 Fulham v Hull 2 - 0 Spurs v Boro 2 - 1 The effect on the table would be 12 Spurs -3 31 13 Sunderland -8 31 14 Hull -19 29 15 Newcastle -12 28 16 Portsmouth -15 28 17 Rovers -13 27 18 Stoke -19 27 19 Boro -17 26 20 West Brom -29 22 that would leave Rovers Pompey Spurs and Sunderland with a game in hand. Should Rovers manage to get a win then we can move up to 14th place and put some real pressure on those below us.
1864roverite Posted March 3, 2009 Posted March 3, 2009 Just what a win would do for Rovers is unimaginable. Add that to results going our way then come Wednesday next week we could find ourselves with some serious distance between us and Middlesboro, the team who I believe are the biggest threat to Rovers survival hopes. Should results strive to go agasint us then I think Rovers and Boro may be the two teams fighting Newcastle for the avoidance of the drop. Should Rovers take the 3 points on offer wednesday, and I dont care if its a 94th minue scabbiest goal of the year via the arse of a fly, then Fulham away takes on a bigger importance. Oh how I would enjoy Fulham to have a great game at home in the Cup and take United to a replay at the weekend. Yes, Fulham are and have been good at home in recent games but they are due a slip. Surely, after such a good run of results they are due to lose at home and in the visit of Rovers, that type of result is due to them. I am really looking forward to this game.
Sparky Marky Posted March 3, 2009 Posted March 3, 2009 Long way to go yet....Baggies, Stoke and Hull to go I think.
Iceman Posted March 3, 2009 Posted March 3, 2009 This is sooo tense right now, let me know at the end of the season who is relegated. Lol
John Posted March 3, 2009 Posted March 3, 2009 West Brom 1-1 Arsenal so far. Arsenal went 1-0 up, but sadly West B equalised.... 7:45pm kick off in that one.
Grabbi Graeme Posted March 3, 2009 Posted March 3, 2009 Arsenal are back in the lead against West Brom 2-1
Anti-Dingle-Brigade Posted March 3, 2009 Posted March 3, 2009 Come on Arseholes, help us out. Chelsea and Pool need to do us favours as well.
1864roverite Posted March 3, 2009 Posted March 3, 2009 Sunderland look quite composed against what I would say is a very very nervous Liverpool team. They look lob sided, devoid of thought and are totally reliant on Gerrard for inspiration. 1-3 Arsenal
Exiled_Rover Posted March 3, 2009 Posted March 3, 2009 Got to love Benitez. I've no idea how he's managed to create such a following in Merseyside when he's such a bad manager, but long may it continue.
