Hughesy Posted March 16, 2009 Posted March 16, 2009 Very true - if Ashley Young got a serious injury at any point in a season they would be screwed too!

SoccerHQ Posted March 16, 2009 Posted March 16, 2009 We've had injuries, maybe not the frequency of other clubs but we've been without Laursen for the last two months, Bouma has been out for the whole season, Carew missed three months and NRC has been missing for the last 6 weeks. All 4 are regulars for us. Very disappointed with how the season is going now, great opportunity for us which is falling by the wayside.
Eddie Posted March 16, 2009 Posted March 16, 2009 Shame for you, although better for Rovers that you don't make the top 4 (you'll have my support for 5th spot), but it was really always going to happen.
Iceman Posted March 16, 2009 Posted March 16, 2009 Not at all surprised to see Villa mess it up. 4th place is tempting, but you still have to qualify for the group stages in the CL! Uefa cup trophy, though not as special as a champions league spot, was a chance to win a trophy. I remember Nottingham Forest did something similar, where they were going for the league and had a great chance to win either FA cup or some competition. They opted not to go for the cup, and slipped down the league. Can anybody confirm that, might have been Leeds not sure.
Blue n White Rover Posted March 16, 2009 Posted March 16, 2009 West Brom drew 0-0 today. West Ham didn't look very convincing and managed to get a point comfortably. The main point from this game is that with the quality in our side the Hammers are beatable. Hopefully we can pull it off on the weekend and that will give us a huge boost going into the international break.
Grabbi Graeme Posted March 17, 2009 Posted March 17, 2009 For everyone who thought the so called Carlos Tevez affair is over then think again, Neil Warnock is now going to take legal advice because he feels the relagation robbed him of managing further in the Premier League. Warnock still bitter Where does this all stop, if Warnock is thinking about legal action, then what's to stop the Sheff Utd players from that season following suit.

riverside returns Posted March 17, 2009 Posted March 17, 2009 I agree with Gaz, West Ham have spectacularly managed to avoid any sanctions for breach of rules. What is now more damning is that they, by paying this compensation to Sheff Utd, have admitted their culpability. Surely, the EPL should be now considering deducting points from them. No fine will ever do but this is Sir Trevor's club and from London so will avoid the fall out unlike Leeds, Rotherham, Luton and Bournemouth.. Lets see them take action!

Anyone see the West ham fan on football Matters last night saying they should have been deducted points because at least now it would be over and done with and they could be a year or so into rebuilding? As it is it's dragging on and doing nobody any favours.
modes98 Posted March 17, 2009 Posted March 17, 2009 As it is it's dragging on and doing nobody any favours. There is only an issue over the payment that WHU should pay Sheff Utd. There is no chance that the PL will deduct points now or force a change in league status. PL didn't have the balls to make the right call in first place.

As it is it's dragging on and doing nobody any favours. An article in the Daily Telegraph today argued that now WH have the advantage of not having to sell players to pay off their liabilities.
philipl Posted March 17, 2009 Posted March 17, 2009 West Ham have pending legal cases for: - Warnock from loss of earnings - 17 current and ex Sheff U players for loss of earnings - Curbishley over £3m agreed termination not paid - Magnusson over £1.5m agreed termination not paid - Jorabchian over £10m for something - Charlton and Wigan over £500K each PL winnings West Ham got instead of them - Bolton over something I don't understand Plus the FA and PL investigation which by rights should be followed through on as the Sheff U settlement is surely and admission of guilt? Although the suggestion now is it will quietly be dropped.
riverside returns Posted March 17, 2009 Posted March 17, 2009 Well every football fan should bombard the FA website and insist upon an open and fair examination of the facts and hopefully a satisfactory result. As it stands, West Ham win again as the payment structure will not in any way affect their ability to purchase players.. An absolute disgrace!!!!!!!!!!!!

WHAM have just announced via SKY that the club have NO OUTSTANDING LIBEL/COMPENSATION ACTION/WRITS in relation to the TEVEZ AFFAIR.
Hughesy Posted March 17, 2009 Posted March 17, 2009 Its a joke - it really is. Basically bribery and money wins the day. The Fa and premierleague should still continue with the case anyway, regardless of Sheff Utd settling for a quick buck.

Its also in one of the papers that ken bates is also thinking of taking legal action because if Sheff utd had stayed up then they would have received 500,000 in clauses of contracts of players sold to sheff Utd. Even though both Wham and Sheff Utd have agreed a settlement, I don't think we have heard the last of it, it could be still messy!

philipl Posted March 19, 2009 Posted March 19, 2009 It is possible West Ham settled with Warnock and the Sheff U players at the same time as the settlement with the Blades. Those were certainly filed suits. I think the football club claims were threatened and I would imagine Wigan are arm twisting behind the scenes right now to get the £500k re-routed one way or another. That would just leave Curbs, Eggman and Kia J, oh and cuddly Ken...
broadsword Posted March 19, 2009 Posted March 19, 2009 How can Tevez still be playing as a loan player at Man Utd? Who's the party with his registration?
T4E Posted March 19, 2009 Posted March 19, 2009 How can Tevez still be playing as a loan player at Man Utd? Who's the party with his registration? Thats the £32m question. Who the hell is he on loan from?
den Posted March 19, 2009 Posted March 19, 2009 I thought it was against PL rules to be owned by a third party. Wasn't that the problem when he was at Wham? Well Man Utd will have to pay any fee to Joorbachien, - so doesn't he still own him? The only thing I can think of is that the PL changed the rules about third party ownership - I think. Not sure what the rules are now though.
modes98 Posted March 19, 2009 Posted March 19, 2009 How can Tevez still be playing as a loan player at Man Utd? Who's the party with his registration? Wiki seems to indicate Media Sports Investments. MSI Tevez's transfer confirmation to Man U, but it is on a 2 year loan, with the option to buy. Not sure what the rules are now though. What it says in the rule book is simple. 'The FA will not investigate any of Man Utd's affairs and must not deduct points from West Ham'
Tris Posted March 19, 2009 Posted March 19, 2009 Aalborg v Man City (on Channel 5 just now), and on 10 minutes the Danish fans come out a perfectly choreographed chorus of "Can you hear the City sing, no-- noo -- Can you hear the City sing etc etc - I can't hear a f***** thing" ... all in perfect English albeit with a distinctly Scandinavian accent!! Good work Aalborg fans!
