Anti-Dingle-Brigade Posted April 4, 2009 Posted April 4, 2009 Big games today. Currently: Arsenal 0-0 Man City Bolton 0-0 Middlesbrough Hull City 0-0 Portsmouth Newcastle 0-0 Chelsea West Brom 0-1 Stoke West Ham 0-0 Sunderland Knocking us to... 14th with Hull level but with a worse goal difference. Ideally I think we want: Arsenal win Bolton draw or Boro win Draw Pompy Hull Chelsea Win West Brom win or draw West Ham win
Eddie Posted April 4, 2009 Posted April 4, 2009 Boro back on level terms with Bolton, but West Ham have taken the lead at Sunderland.
frosty Posted April 4, 2009 Posted April 4, 2009 Bolton winning again, which is good......also good is that Sunderland are losing.
Bobby G Posted April 4, 2009 Posted April 4, 2009 Stoke winning possibly the only bad result for us right now. Looks like they might just be safe too. Our game is a must not lose fixture.
RibbleValleyRover Posted April 4, 2009 Posted April 4, 2009 Bottom 3 all losing and the gap is widening, lets hope the results stay as they are.
Iceman Posted April 4, 2009 Posted April 4, 2009 Not too concerned with Stoke result, more so the barcodes and Boro who are both losing.
gumboots Posted April 4, 2009 Posted April 4, 2009 Not too concerned with Stoke result, more so the barcodes and Boro who are both losing. Exactly. If the teams ahead of us win it just means we lose out on some cash. If the teams below us lose it gives us a better chance of staying up, because as long as we match them we'll be safe.
only2garners Posted April 4, 2009 Posted April 4, 2009 Bolton winning again, which is good... No - a better result would be a draw. That would leave Bolton on 35 pts, 1 above us and still very much in the relegation mix.
Backroom Tom Posted April 4, 2009 Backroom Posted April 4, 2009 Toon 2-0 down, to me this is the only result that really matters now. Stays this way and we're 5 points from them.
RibbleValleyRover Posted April 4, 2009 Posted April 4, 2009 Need to check the run ins and there is plenty of twists and turns yet, but the current bottom 3 could quite easilly be the 3 that go down. West Brom are surely not going to survive now.
Bobby G Posted April 4, 2009 Posted April 4, 2009 West Brom is down and I cant see Boro getting about 4-5 wins to survive now. Id rather had Stoke lose today and kept them closer to the bottom, but its going to be between us, Hull, Pompey, Stoke and Newcastle for the last spot and it could require up to 40-41 points.
Backroom Tom Posted April 4, 2009 Backroom Posted April 4, 2009 I think its now down to the last place, hopefully Newcastle will do everyone a favour and take it without too much struggle

Dont forget about sunderland too., Stoke have great home form and now have an away win , i think they may well have the fight to stay up. west brom and boro and the other well its up in the air.
Backroom Tom Posted April 4, 2009 Backroom Posted April 4, 2009 Hull and Pompey drawing is good for us, keeps them both around us
Bobby G Posted April 4, 2009 Posted April 4, 2009 Yep I missed out on Sunderland. Game against Stoke will now see two teams playing long-ball, direct, football up against each other with 3 vital points up for grabs.
Ossydave Posted April 4, 2009 Posted April 4, 2009 I'm pretty confident the bottom 3 will stay as it is now till the end of the season...
deftangel Posted April 4, 2009 Posted April 4, 2009 Stoke are definitely not going down now, they've got far too many winnable games in the run-in not to get the points required. I think Boro losing 4-1 has an air of finality about it...if Stoke don't lose to the Geordies next up, the latter are in a lot of trouble.
Bobby G Posted April 4, 2009 Posted April 4, 2009 I think Newcastle will stay up. Cant see them not turning their form around for at least a couple of wins and pushing it till the end. The other two may be gone though. Its not over yet...
