benhben Posted April 7, 2009 Posted April 7, 2009 They play like us under ince. Nice to watch but toothless in attack and a shambles at the back. Cant see them or Middlesborough getting out of it to be honest.

dave birch Posted April 7, 2009 Posted April 7, 2009 Hang on there, Bryan, I'm getting quite excited at the thought of all that.....
Billy Castell Posted April 7, 2009 Posted April 7, 2009 But WBA making up ground on us is about as likely as the Bride of Wildenstein doing an FHM look-at-my-monkey photoshoot. They are are the Titanic with a Barry Manilow Copcabana hemaphrodite beach party up on deck - they're going down and it's a nightmare in so many ways for them. Actually Bryan, you may have decribed Newcastle's last board meeting.
bennyboyt11 Posted April 7, 2009 Posted April 7, 2009 Who would you guys have from the teams likely to go down (Boro, Newcastle, WBA, Sunderland and Portsmouth) Me: Tuncay (Boro) Wheater (Boro) Downing (Boro) Richardson (Sunderland) Davis (Pompey) Traore (Pompey) Taylor (New) Martins (New) That's it for me
Hughesy Posted April 7, 2009 Posted April 7, 2009 Id take Johnson over Downing any day of the year. Downing/ Traore/ Davis/ Richardson can all stay where they are. The most appealing to me would be Martins from the Geordies.
EwoodGlory Posted April 7, 2009 Posted April 7, 2009 Beye from Newcastle would be an excellent buy for us. We will be looking for a right back in the summer. Sam signed him aswell.
Blue n White Rover Posted April 7, 2009 Posted April 7, 2009 Beye from Newcastle would be an excellent buy for us. We will be looking for a right back in the summer. Sam signed him aswell. Bassong looks a neat little defender, mind you bigger fish are after him, such as Arsenal. Guitterez looks a decent player when on form. Wonder where our friend Joey Barton will end up if Newcastle go down?
Billy Castell Posted April 7, 2009 Posted April 7, 2009 Barton? Nowhere near us hopefully. Hull might have a punt at the right price. As for players I would like: 1. Tuncay (Boro) 2. Johnson (Boro) 3. Martins (Barcodes) 4. Wheater (Boro) 5. Greening (WBA) Well maybe, maybe not. 6. Davis (Pompey) Can't really think of any others.
CAPT KAYOS Posted April 7, 2009 Posted April 7, 2009 Wonder where our friend Joey Barton will end up if Newcastle go down? Wigan - if the Wigan local rags are anything to go by I would take Wheater , I think him and Samba would make an excellent partnership - Taylor as well from Newcastle (doubt he would move though) Also Johnson as somebody has mentioned. Martins is a bit hit and miss but still a decent player. Don't know enough about Beye but we do need a right back Guitterez looks classy but similar to Martins in being a bit hit and miss.
Backroom DE. Posted April 7, 2009 Backroom Posted April 7, 2009 I'm not sure there are many players I'd want from the relegated clubs... Newcastle: Bassong looks decent, but is surrounded by utter dross. Harper would make a good backup goalie for somebody. I think in the right team Jonas Gutiérrez could definately do a good job. I'd stay clear of Barton, scum both on and off the pitch. WBA: I think Robinson and Bednar could possibly fit into a squad like ours. Nobody else. Boro: Tuncay, purely due to our low striker count, could come on a cheapish fee. Wheater is also decent, but much like Bassong is surrounded by crap. I wouldn't go for Downing - lightweight and ineffective, living on brief past glories. ... these are the teams I think will go down.
Billy Castell Posted April 7, 2009 Posted April 7, 2009 Boro should have cashed in on Downing and flogged him to Spurs. He's a very poor man's Stuart Ripley.
gazsimm Posted April 7, 2009 Posted April 7, 2009 if west brom, Boro and the geordies do go down i would not mind any of these players below joining rovers Johnson (Boro) Downing (Boro) Bates (Boro) Wheater (Boro) None from West Brom Owen if fit (Newcastle) Nolan (Newcastle) Martins (Newcastle) Barton if fit (Newcastle) Guthrie (Newcastle) Taylor (Newcastle) Boro should have cashed in on Downing and flogged him to Spurs. He's a very poor man's Stuart Ripley. Hey lay off Ripley, he is a legend and always will be at Rovers!!!!
LeChuck Posted April 7, 2009 Posted April 7, 2009 Valero from West Brom is a very good midfielder, he's the sort of central player we need. I've always thought Morrison is a decent player as well and wouldn't be upset if he came into to strengthen the squad (say as a replacement for Reid). Edit: Surprised no-one has mentioned Gary O'Neil from Boro, he's a cracking player and again probably what we need at the moment.
Billy Castell Posted April 7, 2009 Posted April 7, 2009 Hey lay off Ripley, he is a legend and always will be at Rovers!!!! I wasn't having a go at Ripley, I think he was a great player who had pace and could whip in brilliant crosses. I meant that Downing is the same sort of winger, but crap.
Amo Posted April 7, 2009 Posted April 7, 2009 I'd take Martins from Newcastle. Been off the boil, but Sam is renowned for getting players back on track. He would also inject that missing pace up front.
Fife Rover Posted April 7, 2009 Posted April 7, 2009 Wonder where our friend Joey Barton will end up if Newcastle go down? Hopefully NOT at Ewood!!!!!!!
Anti-Dingle-Brigade Posted April 7, 2009 Posted April 7, 2009 I'd be reluctant to start counting our chickens just yet chaps.
Blue n White Rover Posted April 7, 2009 Posted April 7, 2009 I'd be reluctant to start counting our chickens just yet chaps. Just to balance things out then. Which players will leave if we go down? Robinson Givet Samba Warnock Pedersen (if someone is daft enough to take him) Diouf Santa Cruz McCarthy
Backroom DE. Posted April 7, 2009 Backroom Posted April 7, 2009 Should we go down, we'd be left with a LOT of rebuilding to do. Most of our fringe players are leaving, and I don't think our reserves/youth would be up to the job of getting us back into the Premiership. We'd have to buy practically an entire new team... with very little cash.... doesn't bear thinking about.
Blue n White Rover Posted April 7, 2009 Posted April 7, 2009 United down 1-0 to Porto already in the Champions League. Porto have the away goal. The way United are playing, they could well be heading out of the competition as well as losing their Premier League crown.
Grabbi Graeme Posted April 7, 2009 Posted April 7, 2009 Arsenal 1-0 down as well, great strike from Senna for the goal
BRFC1995 Posted April 7, 2009 Posted April 7, 2009 Who would you guys have from the teams likely to go down (Boro, Newcastle, WBA, Sunderland and Portsmouth) Me: Tuncay (Boro) Wheater (Boro) Downing (Boro) Richardson (Sunderland) Davis (Pompey) Traore (Pompey) Taylor (New) Martins (New) That's it for me even a lot of newcastle don't rate taylor and he's apparently on quite silly wages for not a great defender(if i could be bothered i'd insert the youtube clip of him pretending to be shot as he fails to avoid a red card). Martins seems more miss than hit, and i'd like to see his wages kill newcastle in the championship. i'd probably avoid all to be honest as i'd imagine even wheater has been rewarded with a handsome contract, and none really appeal. Sooner shop abroard and find better for less.........looking forward to seeing what sam does in the window and would say judging by the impact of givet and diouf could do way better than that shower even on a budget.
Guest Vinjay606 Posted April 7, 2009 Posted April 7, 2009 Scumchester just equalised. Shocking defensive error gifting them a goal.
Billy Castell Posted April 7, 2009 Posted April 7, 2009 Man Utd drew with Porto, which may help us indirectly. They play Sunderland next, so with them needing a win in Portugal, they will rest a number of players such as Ronaldo and Rooney. Then, if Sunderland get something, and Newcastle lose again, a big gap would open up betwee 17th and 18th place.
