Everton, working on a shoestring  just another stupid media myth that the casual reader gobbles up and regurgitates in a pub or on a message board somewhere.

Relatively speaking, in Premiership terms now, Everton do work on a shoestring. Anyone spending a net amount of around £15m during a season is doing just that.

It's just that our shoestring went threadbare a long time ago and we're in a league of our own when it comes to spending (or not spending as the case is).

Make or break for Bent at Spuds

He certainly sounds hungry enough to do a job for us, and a few others will be sniffing, but surely if spuds are interested in RSC, we would be in a good position, if we stay up.

Got to agree, Rovers on a shoestring budget? Rovers are on a micro budget. We are the Blair Witch or Clerks of the football world.

Absolutely. This "shoestring" idea really is a huge lump of kronk. Just another example of pundits and journalists parrotting the old cliches rather than thinking for themselves or (gasp) doing some research.

Everton may be working on a shoestring in comparison to the top 4, but in comparison to us they're rolling in the dosh.

Then again, Ipswich spent more than us on transfers this season I believe, so most teams look rich in comparison :(

Good start to the second half from Liverpool. 1-1 and Torres with the equaliser.

2-1 Liverpool now and could see more if Liverpool keep going at this rate of tempo.

Sure Almunia won't be too depressed by Fabianski's recent form.

Rubbish defending from Liverpool and Arshavin really punished them for it. 2-2 and against the run of play really.

Bloody hell 3-2 Arsenal. Arshavin again.

At least Liverpool have some fighting spirit. They might come back.

Liverpool definitely aren't boring at the moment

Oh my word, what a game. I don't think this'll finish 3-3 either, Liverpool HAVE to win and Arsenal are lethal on the break.

They certainly are. 4-3 Arsenal and Arshavin yet again.

4-4 but not good enough for the scouse lot, we really could have done with the title race going down to the last game so United need to beat Hull

Would rather see BRFC safe by the final game and Liverpool still in with a chance of the title. That looks unlikely now though.

Arshavin would probably be sat on our bench if we had him. Too lightweight blah blah blah. Talent gets you results in football matches, not 'playing for the shirt' or any of that garbage.

Care to tell us who you're implying shouldn't be sat on our bench at the moment?
