Backroom DE. Posted April 20, 2009 Backroom Posted April 20, 2009 Everton, working on a shoestring just another stupid media myth that the casual reader gobbles up and regurgitates in a pub or on a message board somewhere.
Bing Posted April 20, 2009 Posted April 20, 2009 Relatively speaking, in Premiership terms now, Everton do work on a shoestring. Anyone spending a net amount of around £15m during a season is doing just that. It's just that our shoestring went threadbare a long time ago and we're in a league of our own when it comes to spending (or not spending as the case is).
67splitscreen Posted April 20, 2009 Posted April 20, 2009 Make or break for Bent at Spuds Link He certainly sounds hungry enough to do a job for us, and a few others will be sniffing, but surely if spuds are interested in RSC, we would be in a good position, if we stay up.
67splitscreen Posted April 20, 2009 Posted April 20, 2009 Al Fayed speaks. " I can serve them stags’ testicles from my Scottish estate, Balnagown. We all need big balls in this business." "The FA & Premier league is run by donkeys" The best club, team and supporter in the world.

Rovers are on a micro budget. We are the Blair Witch or Clerks of the football world.
Nelsta Posted April 21, 2009 Posted April 21, 2009 Got to agree, Rovers on a shoestring budget? Rovers are on a micro budget. We are the Blair Witch or Clerks of the football world. In my opinion, and speeking as a geek, This is my fave comment of the year.
b12_simon Posted April 21, 2009 Posted April 21, 2009 yak.........14m jags...........4m baines.........6m yobo.........5m penniless sods............heart bleeds Absolutely. This "shoestring" idea really is a huge lump of kronk. Just another example of pundits and journalists parrotting the old cliches rather than thinking for themselves or (gasp) doing some research.
Backroom DE. Posted April 21, 2009 Backroom Posted April 21, 2009 Everton may be working on a shoestring in comparison to the top 4, but in comparison to us they're rolling in the dosh. Then again, Ipswich spent more than us on transfers this season I believe, so most teams look rich in comparison
Guest Vinjay606 Posted April 21, 2009 Posted April 21, 2009 Good start to the second half from Liverpool. 1-1 and Torres with the equaliser.
Guest Vinjay606 Posted April 21, 2009 Posted April 21, 2009 2-1 Liverpool now and could see more if Liverpool keep going at this rate of tempo.
Guest Vinjay606 Posted April 21, 2009 Posted April 21, 2009 Sure Almunia won't be too depressed by Fabianski's recent form.
Guest Vinjay606 Posted April 21, 2009 Posted April 21, 2009 Rubbish defending from Liverpool and Arshavin really punished them for it. 2-2 and against the run of play really. Bloody hell 3-2 Arsenal. Arshavin again. At least Liverpool have some fighting spirit. They might come back.
LeChuck Posted April 21, 2009 Posted April 21, 2009 Oh my word, what a game. I don't think this'll finish 3-3 either, Liverpool HAVE to win and Arsenal are lethal on the break.
Guest Vinjay606 Posted April 21, 2009 Posted April 21, 2009 Liverpool definitely aren't boring at the moment

Backroom Tom Posted April 21, 2009 Backroom Posted April 21, 2009 4-4 but not good enough for the scouse lot, we really could have done with the title race going down to the last game so United need to beat Hull
Guest Vinjay606 Posted April 21, 2009 Posted April 21, 2009 Would rather see BRFC safe by the final game and Liverpool still in with a chance of the title. That looks unlikely now though.
dr_awol Posted April 21, 2009 Posted April 21, 2009 Great game. How come sky sports news where showing the goals as they went in tonite?
Bing Posted April 21, 2009 Posted April 21, 2009 Arshavin would probably be sat on our bench if we had him. Too lightweight blah blah blah. Talent gets you results in football matches, not 'playing for the shirt' or any of that garbage.
