Stuart Posted April 25, 2009 Posted April 25, 2009 5-2 now. Not really "Other Premier League" but Preston got a massive win against Big Club to stop Burnley from clinching a play-off place today.
philipl Posted April 25, 2009 Posted April 25, 2009 Mancs making a habit of coming back frm behind against Spurs by spanking 5 second half goals past them. About three seasons ago it was Spuds 3 Mancs 0 at HT at WHL. Mancs won 5-3. That PNE win sets up an amazing last day at the top of the second division assuming Reading beat Norwich. Last play-off place up for grabs between PNE and the dingles (both have home games) but Reading v Brum game could let Sheff U sneak through to automatic promotion and save West Ham a bundle of compo. If Sheff U don't win, and Reading win, they go up. Otherwise Brum go up.
Backroom DE. Posted April 25, 2009 Backroom Posted April 25, 2009 Spurs really are shocking... total bottlers

Rovermatt Posted April 25, 2009 Posted April 25, 2009 Unpleasant to see Spurs bottling it. Why did they even bother coming out for the second half?
BRFC1995 Posted April 25, 2009 Posted April 25, 2009 quite simply heartwarming to see david bentley stuck on the bench..............good move u clown, bitter and i don't care
Backroom DE. Posted April 25, 2009 Backroom Posted April 25, 2009 When Utd put their first in I knew they'd come back to win it... Spurs were scared sh1tless as soon as they started the 2nd half. Not bothered about the result, I'd rather Utd won the title than Liverpool and I'd rather they won than Spuds, who I do love to see crash and burn.
costakiau Posted April 25, 2009 Posted April 25, 2009 in know its not premier league but i cant be bothered looking for a thread from a few years ago, and heaven forbid i start a new thread, but just like to mention that jon stead scored for Ipswich today. ill always have a soft spot for stead and hope that he can get his act together again and start banging them in. he always was a clean stiker of the ball and reasonably clever in his positioning, probably could do a job for blackburn at the moment.

Having watched Stead live numerous times (being an Ipswich native) I can assure you he isn't good enough for the Premier League. Championship is his level, and he does OK there.
Guest Vinjay606 Posted April 25, 2009 Posted April 25, 2009 A good day could have been great had Tottenham not been so charitable.
Billy Castell Posted April 25, 2009 Posted April 25, 2009 Was Gomes up to his usual tricks? And wasn't there a Man Utd vs. Spurs game that ended 5-3 with Spuds crumbling into dust? Always good to see that so-called big club crash and burn, especially now Tap Tap Redknapp is there.

Always good to see that so-called big club crash and burn, especially now Tap Tap Redknapp is there. To be fair the penalty was harsh... Gomes went through Carrick, but appeared to touch the ball. Don't think Gomes was particularly at fault for any of the goals, Spurs were just as a whole pretty pathetic in the second half. And yes, Spurs were 3-0 up at HT and ended up losing 5-3, was a few years ago now, but good to see their fighting spirit still fails them.
Billy Castell Posted April 25, 2009 Posted April 25, 2009 Modric, Jenas, Palacios and Modic is not the most robust of midfields. I don't know why Huddlestone is not picked to toughen it up, but we can dream we find a few pennies to take him off their hands.
tony gale's mic Posted April 25, 2009 Posted April 25, 2009 I'd rather United won the title, still love taunting my Scouse friends about how we're the only side to lift the Premier League trophy at Anfield.
Guest Vinjay606 Posted April 25, 2009 Posted April 25, 2009 Remember who Liverpool supported for the title then? BRFC supporters should show some support for their title bid in return. Not that they have much chance of that now because of Tottenham.

He's a big girl, - that's what's stopping him from being a much better player.
Blue n White Rover Posted April 25, 2009 Posted April 25, 2009 Remember who Liverpool supported for the title then? BRFC supporters should show some support for their title bid in return. Not that they have much chance of that now because of Tottenham. They only supported us because they didn't want Man Utd to win the title. They would've supported Arsenal if they were in that position. Doesn't make us special. Just the fact they hate United. I'm not fussed who wins the title, doesn't really affect me. Most Liverpool fans I know have never been to Anfield, same goes for United fans and their ground, therefore, not worth arguing over.
Blue blood Posted April 25, 2009 Posted April 25, 2009 An excellent days results with the only fly in the ointment being united winning. The longer the title race is technically on (i.e. mathamatically possible but unrealistic, as oppose to no chance whatsoever) the more difficult a fixture it is to play vs manure, pool and chelski. Given we've only got one game against the big 4 left, a continuing title race is to our advantage. However hull and sunderland's results are brilliant. It's another week gone, another week that both are still in the mire, and in hull's case below us. In sunderland's case loosing to west brom must be a huge blow as it must have been a game they were banking on three points from as well as being an even bigger blow to the moral than usual loosing to a club adrift at the bottom of the prem. It's certain to get players and fans alike even more edgy. I can see one of boro or newcastle taking heart from this and getting the win tomorrow. Hope I'm wrong though.
Hughesy Posted April 25, 2009 Posted April 25, 2009 Sunderland's result at West Brom was a nice bonus. Hull got the expected beating, but now move below us on goal difference. 3 points tomorrow and we are safe
Backroom DE. Posted April 25, 2009 Backroom Posted April 25, 2009 A few quotes from the ever entertaining RAWK site, more proof as to why I'd want anyone other than the scouse to win the title... - Webb's been bought. ###### astonishing. Absolutely ###### astonishing. - disgrace. absolute disgrace. gota be something done. - I'll tell you what Webb saw, ###### £££££££££ - The English authorites aren't as brave or honest as their Italian counterparts so nothing will. There's too much money in United for them to ever be truly 'knocked off their perch'. They generate too much revenue for the men at the top. - that's one more TV Licnece there not getting off me. BBC are scared of Israel and Alex Ferguson - Burn in hell, Ronaldo. Burn slowly and painfully, and may each day in hell be twice as long as the one before it. - (Please don't use that word again) YOU WEBB!! YOU @#/? JUST SAVED UNITED!! DAMN WHY DO WE SUPPORT PREMIER LEAGUE CLUB WHEN THIS ###### ORGANISATION IS PUSHING SCUMS TO TOP?? DAMN!!! - 3-2 now, ###### joke. 5-2 anyone? - Spurs will win it, Robbie is still a Liverpool fans, trust me on this! - i'm practically in tears here. That's never happened before with a match that hasn't involved Liverpool - thats it lads, i'm going to bed (posted Today at 07:01:38 PM) - You can't blame Spurs. You can blame the FA though, for not having the ###### to put the sort of phone-tap on Ferguson that the Italian's did on Moggi. It's far worse here than it was over there - if Redknapp is seen with a new car in the next week I'll go mental. - i hope webbs car blows up on the way home
beerwins Posted April 25, 2009 Posted April 25, 2009 "if Redknapp is seen with a new car in the next week I'll go mental " is that statement really what i think it is ?, a spurs fan thinking redknapp took a bung to lose ? if it is thats insane.

beerwins Posted April 25, 2009 Posted April 25, 2009 Isn't it a Liverpool fan? Ahh yeh that would explain the mentality.
