Pointless challenge when his team were cruising. He'll learn next time. I can't remember the Red Rats having much sympathy for Henning Berg when a similar decision actually cost us the game. They were laughing their heads off at us that day.

Completely different context, missing the point entirely.

I've kept my cool wih your crackpot posts on the grounds that everyone is entitled to their own opinion however bizarre they may seem to others. But what you are saying here is an absolute disgrace and shows all of us (as if we didn't alreadyknow) what a complete fool you are.

What my views on video replays or laughing at the Man United player's misfortune?

Your personal attack on Fletcher. I could just about sympathise with your point if you had been talking about Rooney or Ronaldo or any of the regular cheats that Man U. employ, but Fletcher is an honest player who plays the game the right way. What has he done to incur your insulting remarks?

Fletcher. Good.

Barton. Bad.

Mistah Kurtz, he dead!

Enlighten me please.

We were United's main rivals at the time and laughed at us mainly because it meant they won points at the expense of us. It affected our team more than it affected one man, and it's not like Berg missed any career defining matches out of it.

Here we're not showing any great sympathy with United as a team (they won't even suffer that much because of it), just one player who by all accounts is a pretty decent bloke when compared to other top 4 footballers who is missing the biggest match of his life down to a harsh decision. Also it's not like we stand to gain anything from this dismissal, the only reason why anyone would laugh at this is purely out of spite and nothing else, and honestly it's pathetic.

We lost 3 absolutely crucial points as a result of the Berg decision. Maybe I need to remind you that we won the league by 1 point that season. If United would have won at West Ham on the final day we would have been pipped at the post. Possibly you might not have been quite so sanguine about the Berg decision then.

I'm not laughing at Fletcher, I just couldn't care less. I'd swap our treatment by referees for United's any day. Given the number of ridiculous sendings off you see every week his is nothing out of the ordinary.

Like I said, still missing the point.

Most ridiculous sendings off you see every week don't concern a good honest hard working footballer like Fletcher missing the biggest game of his career thanks to the bad decision. It's not even about United's past treatment from referees.

Even more ridiculous are the Uefa rules forbidding an appeal and insisting the decision stands.

I dislike United as much as any Rovers supporter but I do feel sorry for Fletcher. I wonder if United would have accepted the decision quite so calmly if it had happened to Ronaldo .... ?

If it had been Ronaldo making the challenge, or Rio say, he'd never have sent them off.

In my view it's been extremely noticeable over the years that when a ref does finally pull out a card for a Man Ure player, it's usually for a lesser light, O Shea, Fletcher, Park out of the current set up etc.

The higher the profile of the player, Keane, Cantona, Scholes, Rooney, Ronalso, etc. the more they get away with.

As for Fletcher - very unfortunate indeed - unbelievable there's no right of appeal. Apart from anything else it also assumes the match officials are always going to be whiter than white/and/or completely impartial and/or immune to pressure and/or never make any mistakes.

As I said last night it is stupid that there is no appeals process however that shouldn't be adressed until the end of the season, you can't go changing the rules midway through.

I don't think you've got a point for me to miss. He got sent off. He's not the first to miss a final this way and he won't be the last. There is no right of a appeal, move on.

Both semis blighted by huge refereeing errors. Video technology must, at some point, be used to stop these ridiculous decisions standing and ruining games.

The referee has barely got a big decision right tonight.

Chelsea were wrongly denied a couple of legitimate pens in the first half imo. In the second Drogba and Anelka have been throwing themselves to the floor at every opportunity. Drogba chesting the ball then going down like he'd received some sort of foul blow to the back of the head was laughable.

The sending off incident was even worse. No contact whatsoever and Anelka should have been the one who got a red card for diving. (How can Andy Gray claim there was some sort of coming together?)

All that said, Chelsea deserve to go through. Barca have been very disappointing on the night. Powderpuff, lightweight, with no idea at all of how to break Chelsea down.

Edit: Me and my big mouth!

:D

For entertaining games with twists, turns and plenty of goals, the Champion's League as been excellent this season.

For once the undoubted two best teams in Europe will play the final as well, should be a cracking game.
