thenodrog Posted March 24, 2008 Posted March 24, 2008 It is curious when one looks at that particualr decision and then compare it to the multiple instances of Chelsea players surrounding and visibly bumping refs without so much as a single yellow being brandished. Could we just please have some form of consistancy. I think the overwhelming support (outside Liverpool) for Bennet should give Hackett & Co a strong mandate to continue. People have compared football discipline to that of rugby very unfavourably for years, maybe this incident will prove a watershed for the future.

American Rover12 Posted March 26, 2008 Posted March 26, 2008 Mascherano possibly could be out for the game against us
LeftWinger Posted March 28, 2008 Posted March 28, 2008 Keane Slams "Hypocritical" Managers This man really makes me laugh at times. "But I've seen other managers come out and demand respect. How can the players show respect if their manager does not?" Keane was famously heavily criticised in 1999 when, as United captain, he led the unsightly charge on referee Andy D'Urso after he awarded Middlesbrough a penalty at Old Trafford.
philipl Posted March 29, 2008 Posted March 29, 2008 After thinking the bottom would be a white knuckle affair, it seems Bolton and Fulham are doomed after both fluffed their chances and Brum neatly despatched the fading Citeh. Shame in a way as they were both promoted with us in 2000/1 and remarkably the trio have stayed up together for seven consecutive seasons. Anyway, glad we are the odd one out this time!
1864roverite Posted March 29, 2008 Posted March 29, 2008 I think its very twitchy bum time in the North East. Sunderland winning today just exaggerates the cost of our defeats to wham this season. 6 points would have come in very vey handy. Newcastle have a very very interesting set of fixtures coming up, a number of which they have little chance of winning and which could see them falling through the trap door if either Bolton or Fulham shape up. For me, its a further 2 from Fulham, Bolton,Wigan,Newcastle and Birmingham. run in - NUFC = spurs, pompy, everton and wham away, reading, chelsea and sunderland home. WAFC = villa and chelsea away, manure, reading spurs and brum at home. FFC = pompy, city and reading away, birmingham, liverpool and sunderland at home. Winkers = chelsea, villa, spurs and boro away, sunderland and wham at home. BCFC = villa, wigan and fulham away, everton, liverpool and Rovers at home.
Tim Southampton Rover Posted March 29, 2008 Posted March 29, 2008 If Sunderland send Newcastle down then that would be hilarious.
greggyk Posted March 29, 2008 Posted March 29, 2008 Cant see either Fulham or Bolton getting enough points to even make it close to be honest. Todays result would have hurt Bolton badly!
adopted scouser Posted March 30, 2008 Posted March 30, 2008 Cracking derby game at Anfield, surprised Rafa isn't four nil up, just the one from Torres. Gerrard's launched a right foot rocket which cannoned off the post and Everton haven't really threatened at all. Sunny day, high tempo game and second half to look forward to. P.S. There's a rumour going round that Newcastle have just beaten Spurs 4 - 1 at the Lane ?
1864roverite Posted March 30, 2008 Posted March 30, 2008 Thats correct AS 4-1 magpies. Result takes NUFC out of the dog fight me thinks.
1864roverite Posted March 31, 2008 Posted March 31, 2008 On my way back to Harrogate this morning I listened to a Bolton fan condemning his team back to the Championship where they will suffer and suffer with no chance of getting back into the elite whilst Megson and Garsdale are at the helm. A massive rant on bringing BFS back to the Block !!
philipl Posted April 1, 2008 Posted April 1, 2008 The English and German Leagues are the most predictable for professional gamblers to bet on. That article also shows that the strandard of football is not all that high in the Bundesliga this season. Italy and Spain are having their own crises.
American Rover12 Posted April 1, 2008 Posted April 1, 2008 Seems even the Prime Minister has an opinion on refs. Please notice the captains he references as good examples.
thenodrog Posted April 1, 2008 Posted April 1, 2008 Seems even the Prime Minister has an opinion on refs. Please notice the captains he references as good examples. From that article..... "Gordon Brown has joined the calls for footballers to respect referees - saying captains should be booked for failing to control their players." And what about party leaders who cannot control their party members? What a plonker!.... Sexual and financial scandals dog our members of parliament yet he recommends that footballers need to set an example to our youngsters! Substitute 'footballers' with 'members of parliament', 'captains' with 'party leaders' and 'referees' with the 'speaker' and the irony is superb! Does he not realise how effin stupid he sounds?
92er Posted April 2, 2008 Posted April 2, 2008 No wonder Championship sides/supporters take umbrage when they are "awarded" Premiership refs.
Alex Rover Posted April 2, 2008 Posted April 2, 2008 Take a seat Mr. Styles.....and Urinal is being "rested" as well. I got castigated on here by the PC brigade the last time I dared to question his competence (or lack of)
thenodrog Posted April 2, 2008 Posted April 2, 2008 Do the refs lose out financially or is this sort of action merely a sop for the masses?

CAPT KAYOS Posted April 3, 2008 Posted April 3, 2008 The problem is it is still not resolving the issues What is the point of relegating them to the Championship or whatever as they still make the same mistakes. We might not like some of the referees and I especially think most are dire and don't have a clue, however as I have said before they don't get much help from the powers that be in resolving what is wrong and just have more and more obstacles put in their way. This doesn't help anybody and just leaves the refs in a no win situation and probably as we have seen caught in two minds as to what is actually the correct thing to do during a match.
American Posted April 5, 2008 Posted April 5, 2008 Bolton and Fulham are both going to regret not getting something out of today.
1864roverite Posted April 5, 2008 Posted April 5, 2008 Had a mooch around various fans website. A brief synopsis. Bolton fans suicidal blaming everyone from Alladyce, Garside, Megson and the fans themselves ! Fulham fans are miffed with Roy. City fans not very happy with SGE and his lack of striking prowess. Arsenal fans like Bolton fans suicidal at the teams lack of ability to beat Liverpool. Chelsea fans think they have the title wrapped up.
alexanders Posted April 6, 2008 Posted April 6, 2008 Scum draw and actually weak against Boro. I really hope Boro' will claim this winner!

Sounds funny, to be fair to their fans they are pretty funny when it comes to being ###### off...
