If Ferdinand is out for a while it could have a major impact on the title race, Vidic is already out for 3 weeks or more.

It will. Anyway, whitout Vidic United is much weaker defensively. I reckon we might have a chance at Ewood Park !

It ended 2-2, the title race is on!

Depressing to see United rescue themselves as usual. The point though throws the title race wide open however. Chelsea are a hugely resilient side and have really come up on the rails while the focus was on United's apparently beatific attack and Arsenal's pathetic ineptitude. If we can take some points from the Red Scum and put a spanner in their title challenge (which should have been buried by now) then I would be very pleased indeed.

I hate the mancs .... always have really since Busby managed em ..... but if its now virtually a two horse race I must admit I'd far rather them win it than Chelsea.

I think that the Chelsea team is basically managing itself. The players from the body language i've seen and the media reports i have read have no respect whatsoever for Grant. The guy doesn't have a clue about management, which was clearly evident in the League Cup final.

Which, if true, makes you question how good Mourinho was as a manager. Chelsea are in with a decent chance of winning the league, were runners up in the league cup and should make it to at least the semi-final of the Champions League. If the players are capable of managing themselves - then maybe Mourinho wasn't the genius he lead us all to believe.

And I think you've indirectly ( or directly if you really believe that as well) brought up a great point. With that much skill and talent out there, after training X amount of hours day in and day out, is it really that far fetched to assume that they've just clicked and figured out how to play together as a team themselves?

Mourinho could have taught them to manage themselves, or the leaders in the Chelsea team i.e. Lampard and Terry could be just continuing what occurred under Mourinho.

It was just the impression i am getting that neither Grant of this TenCat guy have the respect of the players and that there were mumblings in the media that Terry for example was playing a larger role than just a player. I've noticed that that coach guy Steve Clarke? Mourinho's number two? seems to be the one always issuing out orders at the touchline and speaking to the players.

I have no clue really whats going on, i'm just speculating, though something doesn't feel right with the Chelsea set up.

I am surprised no-one has picked up on Portsmouths latest accounts news.

Posting a loss of £23million ! Not only that, according to fans in the know, they owe subtantial transfer fees for most of their signings with agreements to settle them next year (I dont know just how true this is but would imagine they would owe part of each transfer fee like most clubs). They have a very minimnal turnover with a crowd average of 19000 !

I just cannot see how they can survive next year. Granted an FA Cup Final win gives them approx £3m and 6th spot will give them a decent prize pot BUT it wont pay their bills !

I cannot see them spending big money in the close season UNLESS they have a serious sugar daddy.

Some interesting thoughts from the Pompy fans

II cannot see them spending big money in the close season UNLESS they have a serious sugar daddy.

Wouldn't be sure he'll fund lots of summer spending, but doesn't young Mr Gaydamak fall into the category of serious sugar daddy? I always had the impression he's there for a while to pay the 'running costs' of Portsmouth, and I would have thought the 23 million loss falls into that category. That's only an amateur's view.

Meanwhile, how much better than us are they doing this year? Puts into perspective the sort of funds/backer we'd need to leap forwards.
