modes98 Posted April 14, 2008 Posted April 14, 2008 Arsenal, but did you ever consider that they just aren't good enough? I agree. The pundits said they doubted if they would last the pace and they have been proven right. You can't win anything with kids! They have a good young team that will be good in future seasons but if Wenger is deluded enough to think that he only needs to bring in 1 player in the summer then he may find himself out of a job sooner rather than later. You can't continue playing pretty football and not winning things.

Rovermatt Posted April 14, 2008 Posted April 14, 2008 You obviously have a (very large) soft spot for Arsenal, but did you ever consider that they just aren't good enough? Not particularly Eddie. I think they play good football but my frustration is borne of United's success. Frankly I couldn't care who beats Fergie to the league.
B.R.F.C Posted April 14, 2008 Posted April 14, 2008 How bad was Mike Riley at giving City a penalty yesterday-the lad just fell over! Time for another job Mike. Not only that the tosser pretty much had an assist to his name for their 2nd goal after getting in the way of Whitehead I think. Was a cracking strike by Whitehead for the equaliser too.
philipl Posted April 14, 2008 Posted April 14, 2008 Unless Chelsea beat Utd by an extraordinary margin United's goal difference will be enough to see them through. Obviously I hope we win on Saturday but realistically Utd's last three fixtures against Rovers, WHU and Wigan should give them the 9 points they need to secure the title on 89 points, a total Chelsea can equal but not better. Not going to comment on our chances against Man U other to say we have suffered one double against us so far. West Ham won at OT last season and the game at Wigan is on that wonderful playing surface which the egg chasers will be smoothing out for them by then.
Exiled_Rover Posted April 14, 2008 Posted April 14, 2008 Chelsea 0-0 Wigan at half time. And booed off. Ridiculous fans.
Tim Southampton Rover Posted April 14, 2008 Posted April 14, 2008 1-0 to Chelsea Essien gets them out of trouble. Wigan have been superb defensively today and Kirkland has pulled off some brilliant saves.
Tim Southampton Rover Posted April 14, 2008 Posted April 14, 2008 A late Wigan goal pretty much ends Chelseas title hopes unless we beat United! Game finished 1-1. Chelsea fans are not happy but personally I find it hilarious!
grizfoot Posted April 14, 2008 Posted April 14, 2008 Emile Heskey scores in the third minute of injury time, surely it's United's title now.
Tim Southampton Rover Posted April 14, 2008 Posted April 14, 2008 How great was Chris Kirkland tonight?? He pulled off some world class saves tonight. Yet again Chelsea's downfall was them failing to finish teams off.
ABBEY Posted April 14, 2008 Posted April 14, 2008 kirkland should be promoted to englands number one after that showing....can utd win league at ewood now?
brfcshabba Posted April 14, 2008 Posted April 14, 2008 kirkland should be promoted to englands number one after that showing....can utd win league at ewood now? No, even if Chelsea lose to Everton on Thursday and United beat us the gap will be 8 points and 9 still to play for
Rovermatt Posted April 14, 2008 Posted April 14, 2008 Chelsea's title hopes are ended by...Wigan. Blow me down with a feather.
Tim Southampton Rover Posted April 14, 2008 Posted April 14, 2008 kirkland should be promoted to englands number one after that showing....can utd win league at ewood now? I don't think so but I think they can win the title at Stamford Bridge the weekend afterwards.
USABlue Posted April 15, 2008 Author Posted April 15, 2008 Emile Heskey scores in the third minute of injury time, surely it's United's title now. But wait! they have to play us.
Hughesy Posted April 15, 2008 Posted April 15, 2008 If Chelsea lose to Everton and United beat us then it is their title, unless Chelsea can somehow pull back all those goals different. No chance. Title to Old Trafford now.
joey_big_nose Posted April 15, 2008 Posted April 15, 2008 Hughes for Chelsea then. In a sort of weird mixed blessing our awful five months mean I doubt even the likes of Newcastle will now look at Hughes. The "hot tip" managers are now Moyes, O'Neill and Harry. If we had won four more games in the run in Hughes probably would have been a top target for other clubs. Funny old game, eh.
waggy Posted April 17, 2008 Posted April 17, 2008 I SEE liverpoo play foolham again on sat, just like they did last season before a very important champions league game.the premier league should force liverpoo to play a decent team,as this game last season saved foolham
Grabbi Graeme Posted April 18, 2008 Posted April 18, 2008 Megson has already been in the press saying he hopes Benitez upholds the spirit of the Prem League and picks a strong team against Fulham.
brfcshabba Posted April 18, 2008 Posted April 18, 2008 It will. Anyway, whitout Vidic United is much weaker defensively. I reckon we might have a chance at Ewood Park ! Ferdinand and Vidic fit to face us
Paul Posted April 19, 2008 Posted April 19, 2008 If we had won four more games in the run in Hughes probably would have been a top target for other clubs. Winning the two home games against Villa and Pompey would have had much the same effect. I said at the time those results would prove costly.
BuckyRover Posted April 19, 2008 Posted April 19, 2008 1540: Robbie Savage nearly levels for the Rams but his diving header is tipped over the crossbar by Robert Green.
philipl Posted April 20, 2008 Posted April 20, 2008 Rovers did themselves and the Premier League a huge favour yesterday. However, it will still need a major miracle for Chelsea to win the title or the Champions League for that matter. Chelsea come up against the form team of the moment in Liverpool in the CL (wouldn't have thought I would have been writing that six weeks ago!) whilst Man U will probably take a lead back to OT with them from the Nou Camp and make a rather stately advance on Moscow underlining how good the Rovers' performance was yesterday. In the unlikely event of Chelsea beating Man U next week, the Mancs' last two fixtures have banana skin written all over them. WHam have made a habit of distressing the Mancs (and weren't we grateful in 1995) whilst changing vegetable matter metaphor the potato patch in Wigan is not where anybody would want to be securing a major title. Bottom end is massively intriguing. Brum desperately need to get at least a point at Villa and we will probably have to relegate them to get Intertoto if we are still in the hunt then. Reading are playing like drains but they have two magic words in their remaining fixtures- Derby County. Bolton need another win and need it before they play Chelsea on the last day unless the Mancs have already put Chelsea out of it by then in which case playing a probably dispirited Chelsea could be their lifeline.
SIMON GARNERS 194 Posted April 20, 2008 Posted April 20, 2008 Notlob have found renewed vigour and are looking like they could just survive......going down to the final day this, interesting to say the least! Some rather heated derbys on the cards today.
