philipl Posted June 24, 2008 Posted June 24, 2008 Nice one mum! Two things caught my eye this morning: 1) Newcastle have little money to spend in the transfer market this summer. 2) Spurs lining up a GK and another youngster for £10m each A general observation re the slow action in the transfer window- international players all round the world are still playing Euros and World Cup qualifiers. They have not even started their summer holidays yet so their physical unavailability to attend medicals etc. is going to delay the full-on transfer market by a few more weeks. Anyone else noticed that the 2008/9 season started last week-end with the first round of Intertoto games?

modes98 Posted July 2, 2008 Posted July 2, 2008 Barry's whining Just a rehash of his comments the other day. Liverpool have been told the price, I know they are short on funds but just make the offer and get it over with. Like pulling a plastic off, just rip it off.
alexanders Posted July 6, 2008 Posted July 6, 2008 What a ridiculous article: Spurs next season Spurs are putting Bentley in their first xi for the next campaign. Idiots.
SIMON GARNERS 194 Posted July 6, 2008 Posted July 6, 2008 Nothing ridiculous about it at all.Spurs will have a damn sight better chance of cracking the top four with players like Bentley in their side thats for sure.
alexanders Posted July 6, 2008 Posted July 6, 2008 Of course, but if you look at the article they mention a lot of possible signings, but not Bentley. It seem like it's already settled and done deal.
RibbleValleyRover Posted July 6, 2008 Posted July 6, 2008 Nothing ridiculous about it at all.Spurs will have a damn sight better chance of cracking the top four with players like Bentley in their side thats for sure. Spurs will fail as that is what they always do.
Billy Castell Posted July 6, 2008 Posted July 6, 2008 North London based Schadefreude Maybe the 4th Champions League spot is open after all...........................Hopefully this is the start of other clubs shunning this turd, and making his employers pay for not sacking him.
John Posted July 6, 2008 Posted July 6, 2008 Few other going ons: Queiroz's Man Utd future in doubt Real say Ronaldo move unlikely Gunmen kidnap Yobo's brother
Baggio Posted July 6, 2008 Posted July 6, 2008 Few other going ons: Queiroz's Man Utd future in doubt Real say Ronaldo move unlikely Gunmen kidnap Yobo's brother So all this time Queiroz has been going on at Ronaldo about showing loyalty to the club yet he's about to jump ship himself?
Eddie Posted July 7, 2008 Posted July 7, 2008 Bit different. He may have the chance to become an international manager rather than simply an assistant at a club where he may have to wait several more years to get the chance to manage the club, if he is even offered it. I doubt he'll make any more money as Portugal manager, the decision would be purely based on his desire to manage.

Chelsea's double whammy on Man U, they've got Scolari and weakened MU in the process and probably unsettled Ronaldo even more! I'd not be suprised to hear that Abromovich's money had included a top up fund for Queiroz's wages.

This is surely a once in a lifetime job for CQ and you can't compare it to ronaldo who may get many other chances to play for a to club. Not at all like Mark Hughes telling Bentley to stay at Rovers whilst all the time wanting out himself.
American Posted July 7, 2008 Posted July 7, 2008 I wonder if, knowing that Carlos was leaving, Hughes might have stayed until Fergie retired....
gumboots Posted July 7, 2008 Posted July 7, 2008 I wonder if, knowing that Carlos was leaving, Hughes might have stayed until Fergie retired.... No he'd painted himself into a corner and had to go.
FourLaneBlue Posted July 7, 2008 Posted July 7, 2008 This is surely a once in a lifetime job for CQ Well...except for him having done it once before!
speeeeeeedie Posted July 7, 2008 Posted July 7, 2008 It looks like Lurch is going back to Portsmouth; Crouch to Pompey
1864roverite Posted July 7, 2008 Posted July 7, 2008 City have sacked Fazackerly this afternoon so he is now looking for a new job.
AggyBlue Posted July 7, 2008 Posted July 7, 2008 City have sacked Fazackerly this afternoon so he is now looking for a new job. I don't want him at Rovers. Teams have been poor defensively at clubs where he's been coach.
thenodrog Posted July 8, 2008 Posted July 8, 2008 I don't want him at Rovers. Teams have been poor defensively at clubs where he's been coach. Anyway didn't Jack Walker sack him?
modes98 Posted July 8, 2008 Posted July 8, 2008 I don't want him at Rovers. Teams have been poor defensively at clubs where he's been coach. Man City were pretty solid at the back last season.
philipl Posted July 8, 2008 Posted July 8, 2008 Interesting times which might be shifting back Rovers' way. 07/8 was spend the Sky money EPL transfer bonanza and frankly few clubs got much value. 08/9 comes the sobering up and a remarkably stalled market so far: - Mancs might do damage but they are sweating on CR and hiding the fact they hyave £80m interest a year and £250m repayment by 2010 to find. - Arsenal and Chelsea are not adding to EPL liquidity as they will do all their buying elsewhere - Liverpool have to sell to buy So the Top 4 are hardly driving the market - Villa seems that Learner is being very careful with his cash although he could blow everyone out of the market if he wanted to - Spurs now have to sell to buy having already spent their transfer alklocation for this year and the Berbatov sale looking nothing like the sure thing it did back in June - West Ham and Newcastle are in hair shirt mode - Pompey have done a lot of shopping already - Everton would prefer not to be net spenders with the stadium issue So that leaves Citeh who may or may not (Not in all reality) have £65m to spend as the motor for this year's transfer market.
