A snippet of an article I just read

"Chelsea's final offer of £140,000 per week for four years was rejected by the Lampard camp."

Someone friggin bust this baloon for me, please?

Is it any wonder the likes of Bentley get their heads turned in the England camp?

My Thai monitoring friend tells me this is the likely outcome of it all....

Deals will be done so that TS is found guilty some charges and aquitted of most of the others.

This will satisfy political opponents and allow the current coalition to continue. It will also mean TS will not go to jail and will be free to come back to the UK, albeit minus an acceptable chunk of his fortune. This will also allow him to continue business in Thailand.

HOWEVER...here's the interesting footy related bit.

This will mean he now fails the Premier League "fit and proper person" test. This is because the charges relate to fraud and corruption. His close family members have already been found guilty of fraud so could not take his place as a puppet.

This would mean his interest in City would have to be reduced to less than 30%.

A buyer would then have to be found, probably within a timescale acceptable to the Prem.

It would seem TS would be unlikely to begin (yes begin, he hasn't put in a penny yet) funding the club.

The takeover of City was, in my opinion, a method of raising his profile so that he would firstly be less likely to be assassinated due to the fuss it would create ( there was a military coup in Thailand remember) and secondly to make it less acceptable to international governments should he be thrown into the Bangkok Hilton for 20 years and/or his monies taken from him.

So good luck Sparky....tight trustees might not seem so bad in 6 months....

Unless City borrow our 'Racist' pass card to get the Prem to ignore their own rules...... First Yellow Chairman in the Prem. Be sure to get back page headlines in the Guardian and a few bob more in the far east for TV rights. It worked for us.

Sunderland have had a £4.5 million bid turned down by West Ham for George McCartney.

I don't know what is stranger - Keane continually thinking these players are worth the amounts he bids for them, or his board continually letting him away with it!

Interesting times which might be shifting back Rovers' way.

07/8 was spend the Sky money EPL transfer bonanza and frankly few clubs got much value.

08/9 comes the sobering up and a remarkably stalled market so far:

- Mancs might do damage but they are sweating on CR and hiding the fact they hyave £80m interest a year and £250m repayment by 2010 to find.

- Arsenal and Chelsea are not adding to EPL liquidity as they will do all their buying elsewhere

- Liverpool have to sell to buy

So the Top 4 are hardly driving the market

- Villa seems that Learner is being very careful with his cash although he could blow everyone out of the market if he wanted to

- Spurs now have to sell to buy having already spent their transfer alklocation for this year and the Berbatov sale looking nothing like the sure thing it did back in June

- West Ham and Newcastle are in hair shirt mode

- Pompey have done a lot of shopping already

- Everton would prefer not to be net spenders with the stadium issue

So that leaves Citeh who may or may not (Not in all reality) have £65m to spend as the motor for this year's transfer market.

I don't really agree with this in terms of Randy Lerner. In 2 years he has ploughed £14m into a new, state of the art training ground, said to be one of the best in this country. He paid £7m as soon as he arrived for Stiliyan Petrov, out of his own money (the takeover was still taking place). He has paid £5m on the Holte Pub outside Villa Park and has spent a few million on general historical prestige around the stadium (mosaics etc). Lets not forget the shirt sponsorship he has given up this season and instead put a children's charity on the front of our shirts (Acorns Children Hospice).

In terms of players:-

Petrov - £7m

Ashley Young - £9.65m

Curtis Davies - £10m

Scott Carson - £2m (Loan)

Zat Knight - £4m

John Carew - swap for Baros

Nigel Reo-Coker - £8.5m

Shaun Maloney - £1m (had 6 months left on his contract)

Wayne Routledge - £1.5m

Steve Sidwell - £5.5m

Now, not a massive outlay - but that isn't down to Randy himself, but down to Martin O'Neill who is quite particular about his signings. Also, in the first season, you have to remember that we had just finished 16th and attracting players was difficult. This is going to be a big summer for Villa, as we are now in a position to attract good players.

Unfortunately the game is run by money now. I hear Rovers are looking for a buyer - hopefully you'll get someone with a lot of money too, as that is how the game is going now. I've got a lot of time for Rovers.

Quinn letting him bid that amount is a strange one because it was Quinn who sold him to West Ham 2 years ago for £600,000 and Clive Clarke in part exchange.

Rovers won't be a bottom half team. For £6m you can do ALOT better. You already have a good strikeforce anyway. Zamora shows how crazy the transfer market is - £6m move

"When the ball hits your head and you're sat in row z,

it's Zamora."

If we loose Roque it's going to be for plenty. If £6m of it is invested in a player who inspired that ditty from West Ham fans then we are in deep dodo.

How can the rest catch up when the Big 4 nobble them by buying their best players>?

Written in relation to Villa but has applied to and by us.

My point about Lerner at Villa is he has so much wealth, he could turn the tables on a heavilly indebted club like Liverpool, let RBS (who loaned LFC £275m) know what is in their best interest and hoover up the 'pool's best players- if he wanted to.

Sparky is making his first Cake Tin signing- Ben Haim for £6m.
