thenodrog Posted July 26, 2008 Posted July 26, 2008 Keegans Captain threatens to walk out ...... Just 45 games in 3 years, just 10 goals last season, £105,000pw, An Owen thinks he's worth MORE money! http://www.guardian.co.uk/football/2008/ju...d.premierleague Good luck to Owen for trying to do the best for himself under the current climate but even though the mags have a long and fine history of crass stupidity, presumably based on isolation from the real world, I expect fat ashley to cough a bit at that one.

Billy Castell Posted July 26, 2008 Posted July 26, 2008 Not the EPL, or Rovers related, I had to when I saw this one on a rumour board. God help you. HEARTS FC Hearts are interested in experienced forward Corrado Grabbi. He will meet with Mindaugas Nikolicius where it is hoped a deal can be concluded. Holy Crap! Tore Pedersen will be there next. Maybe Grabbi fancies a stab at management when Nikolicius is inevitably sacked in October. Hearts were once a good team before Romanov came in. Stoke sign Wolves midfielder for £3m
thenodrog Posted July 26, 2008 Posted July 26, 2008 10 goals from 19 games last season is a good return, but not for that money (for a striker). He always strikes me as a player who peaked early because of his attributes. Santa puts Owen to shame IMO. How about 47 games over 3 years at a cost of approx 27m to date? Thats almost £600,000 per match!!! And now he wants a rise! The only one one on a good return is sick-note Owen.

The only one one on a good return is sick-note Owen. You have to laugh really, The curse of the barcodes strikes again!!! Can't believe he wants more money, 105K a week is plenty. I wonder if they will try to cash in on him surely losing him on a free, which looks likely would not go down with Ashley at all. But if they want, perhaps we could swap Warnock for him and get them to pick up half his wages. I know its pie in the sky but I'd love to see a fit Owen alongside RSC.
leftfooter Posted July 26, 2008 Posted July 26, 2008 Other than filthy lucre, one wonders what Chelsea are gaining by playing such dross sides in China. This latest team Chengdu Blades are so bad, they would struggle against a Unibond standard side. Their goalie isn't much bigger than Deco. Still, at least SWP seems to have found his correct level.

Frisky Jim Posted July 26, 2008 Posted July 26, 2008 It does make you feel sorry for Hearts! Hearts are in serious trouble: Vladimir Romanov has brought that football club to its knees, to the point where they may cease to exist. It really is that bad.

philipl Posted July 27, 2008 Posted July 27, 2008 El Hadj Diouf moving to Sunderland for £2.5m. I would never want to see Diouf at Rovers but that is a decent piece of business by Roy Keane.
rover6 Posted July 27, 2008 Posted July 27, 2008 I fear that Stoke's purchase of Seyi Olinfinjana (sp) does spell the end of their alleged interest in Mokoena. Hope I'm wrong.

ebenrocks Posted July 27, 2008 Posted July 27, 2008 I've been quite impressed by Sunderlands ins during the window so far. Despite the fact that Keane is bloody awful in the transfer window they've bought a few players who i really wouldnt expect to see at Sunderland, but who i think will help them engrain themselves as a premiership side. I think only Keane could control a team containing Chimbonda and Diouf though, any other manager and they'd be running riot.

Aye, it's a total shambles at Tynecastle. Alarm bells starting ringing when Burley was sacked after a superb start to the season, and a whole host of managers have been and gone since then. How long do you think the new fella will last? A month? Six weeks? Plus they have crippling debts so the future does indeed look very bleak for the Jambos.

You probably can't even get odds at a bookies on how long the new unknow from some back water country manager will do.
Hughesy Posted July 27, 2008 Posted July 27, 2008 SSN just reporting that Everton have had a £12m bid turned down for Moutinho - Thought they were skint??? Also they seem abit short - they have gone on tour of USA with only 15 players!
John Posted July 27, 2008 Posted July 27, 2008 Have to admit, I cannot work out if Sunderland are being shrewd in the market, or just being a bit crazy. Will be interesting to see how they get on...
Billy Castell Posted July 27, 2008 Posted July 27, 2008 I reckon a bit better than last time, about 13th-16th. They will have a few heavy defeats along the way though.

Hearts are my Scottish team after Niemi's heroics for Finland in 2002, and I used to visit the message board when Romanov first took over. There was so much optimism when he first came, and Hearts fans believed that they could challenge the grusome twosome, especially when Burley got off to a flier. We all know what happened next, and as a result, the official messageboard was closed. Probably due to criticism of Vladimir. If Doug Ellis is 'deadly' for his reputation of firing managers, then maybe we should have 'Vicious' Vladimir.
Baggio Posted July 28, 2008 Posted July 28, 2008 Newcastle have had a bid of nearly 12 million euros rejected for Fabricio Coloccini, the player isn't happy as he was told he could leave if a fee of that size came in and has threatened to do a 'webster' unless he's allowed to move. http://translate.google.co.uk/translate?hl...%26as_qdr%3Dall
rover6 Posted July 28, 2008 Posted July 28, 2008 Have to admit, I cannot work out if Sunderland are being shrewd in the market, or just being a bit crazy. Will be interesting to see how they get on... Shrewd? That's the last word I'd use to describe Roy Keane's *get list of Premier League players - close eyes - select player* method. Keane is displaying a severe lack of imagination or resourcefulness. To assemble all you recruits from Premier League clubs is an exercise in wasting money. Even if they turn out decent, the majority will be very overvalued.
67splitscreen Posted July 28, 2008 Posted July 28, 2008 Solano, and his trumpet. That I would like in the Blackburn End. Long live Solano and his band.
leftfooter Posted July 28, 2008 Posted July 28, 2008 I like Robbie Keane; but £19m for a glorified 28YO journeyman must represent the best bit of transfer business since... well since Randy Lerner decided to put off field business before on field matters and stump up 2.5M for a 37YO KK. Levy's mock outrage at the sale just adds to the incongruity.
Exiled_Rover Posted July 28, 2008 Posted July 28, 2008 Robbie Keane's a fantastic player. He's in his peak years, and with the transfer market as crazy as it is £19m is a fair price for his services.
