ffan Posted August 14, 2008 Posted August 14, 2008 You just gotta love Roy - On Paul Koncheskys link to Blackburn "And if I was Paul Konchesky I would be very sad to see my name linked with a £2million transfer when I am a player who is worth a lot more than that. "God only knows where that has come from. There must be a reason for it. Someone must have an agenda and is using Paul's name to further it. "Paul Konchesky is not for sale. He is our star left-back. On Walter Pandiani - "His name has never even been mentioned in the eight months I have been at this club. "To be perfectly honest, I had forgotten he existed. I have no idea where he plays. We have no intention of signing another striker."

philipl Posted August 14, 2008 Posted August 14, 2008 Thanks ffan for Woy's words of wisdom on Paul Konchesky Pompey and Willie McKay charged by the FA over Benjani.
RibbleValleyRover Posted August 14, 2008 Posted August 14, 2008 The BBC have done a feature on some of the premier league newcomers this season: http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/e...rem/7543889.stm Carlos is on page four http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/e...rem/7549513.stm Doesn't tell us much really, but it seems the media are taking an interest in our chilean.
AussieinUk Posted August 15, 2008 Posted August 15, 2008 Well, Ramos has point blank refused Berbatov's transfer request!! Click me
daren Posted August 15, 2008 Posted August 15, 2008 The Register are 2nd hand reporting that Micheal Dell seems to have an interest in Newcastle (although they're distinctly sceptical). What is it about Newcastle? Is it an underdog thing, or something? Most players who went there didn't achieve anything, same for managers. And now owners! The place is a footy graveyard...
nellybc Posted August 15, 2008 Posted August 15, 2008 Just wondering what the villa fans think of the back four that they will be lining up with this season - Compared to ours. Friedel Robinson Young Simpson Cuellar Nelsen Laursen Samba Shorey Warnock Seems a fairly solid back unit on the left if they can gel together. Think as long as nelsen and samba can reproduce good form shown previously we can be fairly solid too. Thoughts ??
DeadlyDirk Posted August 15, 2008 Posted August 15, 2008 Friedel > Robinson Young > Simpson Cuellar = Nelsen Laursen = Samba Shorey < Warnock There isn't a lot in it, that's just my opinion. Most people would agree that Friedel is better than Robinson at present time, the rest are debatable to be honest.
trs Posted August 15, 2008 Posted August 15, 2008 Rangers have signed Pedro Mendes for 3million. Reminds me a lot of Tugay, football wise.
Majiball Posted August 15, 2008 Posted August 15, 2008 Jerome Thomas has signed for Portsmouth. I expect sky to now put them in the relegation predictions they signed a lower league player how dare they!!!
Presty On Tour Posted August 16, 2008 Posted August 16, 2008 Just wondering what the villa fans think of the back four that they will be lining up with this season - Compared to ours. Friedel Robinson Young Simpson Cuellar Nelsen Laursen Samba Shorey Warnock Seems a fairly solid back unit on the left if they can gel together. Think as long as nelsen and samba can reproduce good form shown previously we can be fairly solid too. I think Cuellar is an excellent prospect. I've selected him in my dream team too so I hope he does a good job. Thoughts ??
leftfooter Posted August 16, 2008 Posted August 16, 2008 Nolan urges Whites to get nasty http://www.thisislancashire.co.uk/sport/fo...s_to_get_nasty/ Just when you thought football had lost its capacity to surprise you. Apparently, Bolton this season will be walking out to Black Sabbath; wearing knuckle dusters and steel toe-capped boots.
ebenrocks Posted August 16, 2008 Posted August 16, 2008 Arsenal 1 WBA 0. Nasri with the goal after 4 minutes
DeadlyDirk Posted August 16, 2008 Posted August 16, 2008 Arsenal 1 WBA 0. Nasri with the goal after 4 minutes It's been all Arsenal so far, could well be a rout!
philipl Posted August 16, 2008 Posted August 16, 2008 Just seen the Arsenal shirt for this season- it is gross!!! I thought Arsenal were supposed to be a club of proud tradition. No Champs League for you guys- looks like they have been hanging around in a pigeon loft waiting for the droppings to accumulate on their shoulders.
ben_the_beast Posted August 16, 2008 Posted August 16, 2008 Rangers agree fee with fulham for Steven Davis
brfcshabba Posted August 16, 2008 Posted August 16, 2008 Not too impressed with Liverpool at the moment. Sunderland look quite comfortable Torres 5 yards out shoots and hits Robbie Keane and Torres scores when Keane goes off
leftfooter Posted August 16, 2008 Posted August 16, 2008 Just to top a great day, here's a topical example of how maybe some clubs just might be starting to tighten their belts, this is close season. Everton's dealings (up to now): Ins: None. Outs: Lee Carsley (Birmingham City, free), Stefan Wessels (VfL Osnabruck, free), Andrew Johnson (Fulham, undisclosed). This doesn't take into account the 5.5M they trousered for McFadden in January. Absolutely not taking anything away from an excellent footballing performance today, as Everton is a tough fixture at the best of times. It puts Rovers transfer dealings over the past few seasons into glowing perspective; buy low sell high. The Arsenal of the North - or should that be Arsenal are the Rovers of the south?
cn174 Posted August 16, 2008 Posted August 16, 2008 Speaking to some Everton fans on the train home, they are less than impressed with goings on. They are all a bit miffed that all their money is being saved for the new stadium which may or may not happen anymore. A couple were even talking about getting a refund for thier season tickets!!
HemelRover Posted August 17, 2008 Posted August 17, 2008 Now i know that its only the first game of the season and last week was only the Charity/Community/EatMcDonaldsNow Sheild but Pompey look toothless. Last season they were pacey, strong, physical and dangerous. It looks like Harry is having them play a completley different way to accomodate Crouch. Im pleased to say it aint working and long may it continue. EDIT Oh and Chelsea look great too, not too sure where Essian is gonna fit in ;-)
