Hi Mack Posted August 17, 2008 Posted August 17, 2008 Baggio said: What a player Jonas Gutierrez looks. Looked good but will he be as up for it at WBA or Bolton on a Windy night in November?Everyone is up for a game vs Man Utd Especially on your debut! But i agree he looked good today! Man Utd looked very average after watching Chelsea!

He's been putting that much effort into games pre season, works his socks off and is so direct when running with the ball. Really impressive.
Eddie Posted August 17, 2008 Posted August 17, 2008 He puts in a good shift, but wasn't that impressed by his actual skill.
imy9 Posted August 17, 2008 Posted August 17, 2008 Tim Vickery said exactly the same thing, he runs all day and is direct but not very technical
Hughesy Posted August 17, 2008 Posted August 17, 2008 He also went down way to easily, a dive to try and win a penalty too! No cheats in our league please

cn174 Posted August 17, 2008 Posted August 17, 2008 ffan said: Vidic clearly too him out! I think you're talking about different incidents. The one (i think) you are on about was when Vidic took him out on the edge of the penalty area. Had this been at the other end it would've been a free kick no doubt about it. He did dive sometime in the second half when he clipped it past the defender in the box, went down like he'd been shot, realised he was never going to get a pen and looked silly and got straight back up again
Presty On Tour Posted August 17, 2008 Posted August 17, 2008 Interesting to see 2 ex Rovers keepers on display today. I thought Given was excellent today, some great saves and even with his head from point blank range. To get anything at OT you need a performance from your keeper. As for Friedel, it was the first time I've seen him in Villa colours and he done alright. Felt very strange watching but he's history now. The king is dead. Long live the king!

Hmmm, I thought Brad's weaknesses were more visible than for quite a while (Brum game excepted) In the last 10 mins he parried three not too difficult shots right back into the danger area, all to Villa players fortunately for him, and was rooted to his line for a corner that floated into the middle of the 6-yard box. He won't get away with that kind of stuff for long.
Grabbi Graeme Posted August 18, 2008 Posted August 18, 2008 Hughesy said: He also went down way to easily, a dive to try and win a penalty too! No cheats in our league please Yes because no other players try it do they? Even our own players are guilty of diving, and in the same game Giggs went down easily in the penalty area after a Newcastle defender had stood his ground
Tom 1 Posted August 18, 2008 Posted August 18, 2008 Am sure we put a smile on your faces with that result against Man City. Hughes was absolutely livid on the touchline. I could hear him ranting at them.
nellybc Posted August 18, 2008 Posted August 18, 2008 A smile ?? You better believe it, not that i am bitter!! I had 4-1 down for the score in a prediction league. So close
speeeeeeedie Posted August 18, 2008 Posted August 18, 2008 A decent opening weekend. United were at sea again, just like the first game last year. Chelsea battered a poor Pompey. James should never have let Deco's shot in. I think I've figured out another reason why England are crap. If the two best keepers we have are Robinson and James we'll be in trouble for a while. Liverpool resemble the United Nations. Lots of countries represented and none on the same wavelength. It was good to see City and Spurs lose. Why do West Brom not have a sponsor on their kit?
neekoy Posted August 19, 2008 Posted August 19, 2008 Don't know if anyone has noted that Juan Pablo Sorin is looking a club on a free, class player with a bad attitude, also Appiah has quit Fener. Also Finnan is in transfer 'limbo', certainly could add depth to the right side Also does anyone understand what is up with Chelsea? Ivanovic seems to be off to Milan It would be interesting to see the players that Chelsea has bought and sold without playing any decent time on the pitch Ivanovic, Geremi, Bouhlarez, Kezman there are still a number more
Billy Castell Posted August 19, 2008 Posted August 19, 2008 Knowing Woy, it'll be for £7m. I've no idea how good or bad he is though.
Billy Castell Posted August 19, 2008 Posted August 19, 2008 Latest rumours on SSN: 1. A. Ferdinand, David Healy ->Sunderland 2. Dickson Etuhu->Fulham (exchange for Healy) 3. Ameobi not going to Ipswich (injury)

Veevs Posted August 19, 2008 Posted August 19, 2008 Not quite the right thread for this.. but anyone else watching the sky scouting page.. http://www.skysports.com/football/transfer...4005469,00.html thought it is a rather nifty little feature.. wonder if any blackburn youngsters make it in there..
philipl Posted August 20, 2008 Posted August 20, 2008 Apparently Arsenal are moving to sign Silvestre.
philipl Posted August 20, 2008 Posted August 20, 2008 Shevchenko going to AC Milan according to one of their directors. I guess a Kaka move might have inched closer. Barton being sued by the guy he punched and the footballer who got the cigar in the eye.
