speeeeeeedie Posted September 6, 2007 Posted September 6, 2007 What happened here? Wigan charged by FA. It reads that they have been charged because ther players acted in an unorderly manner when dealing with the ref against Newcastle. Was it worse than any game where Chelsea get a bad decision against them? Man U of old with Keano and Neville berating any official?

Billy Castell Posted September 6, 2007 Posted September 6, 2007 Maybe we should loan Bollock and Shevchenko from Chelsea in Janurary-providing we only pay up to 40% of their wages Nah, can't see it happening either.

Agree, it sill annoys me how it's rules for one team and rules for another (big 4). What did Wigan do anyway? Was it when Kilbane got wrongly sent off that they acted in an 'unorderly manner'?
philipl Posted September 9, 2007 Posted September 9, 2007 Interesting comment on goings-on at Chelsea and Man U.
philipl Posted September 11, 2007 Posted September 11, 2007 Just noticed this week-end's fixtures are a big test for the "pretenders": Everton v Man U Portsmouth v Liverpool Spurs v Arsenal and of course Chelsea v Rovers Normal service resumed or a new element in the mix for at least a few weeks more? Pompey and Spuds' start to the season is going to look rather sick if they both lose with Jol as good as history if the Gooners triumph at WHL.
Presty On Tour Posted September 11, 2007 Posted September 11, 2007 interesting fixtures, all tricky games imo. i'm trying to remember the last time the big 4 all lost on the same weekend? any ideas anyone?
USABlue Posted September 11, 2007 Author Posted September 11, 2007 Be nice to put an end to Chelsea's unbeaten home record.
Roar of the Rover Posted September 11, 2007 Posted September 11, 2007 Be nice to put an end to Chelsea's unbeaten home record. It's about time we had a decent result down there, since Jose's come in we've been getting battred there, even though we play well. It depends how our players are after there International duties.
frosty Posted September 11, 2007 Posted September 11, 2007 interesting fixtures, all tricky games imo. i'm trying to remember the last time the big 4 all lost on the same weekend? any ideas anyone? Not sure, but earlier this season they all played on the Sunday (Arsenal at us 1-1 draw, Utd got beat at City, Liverpool and Chelsea drew) and none of them won.
philipl Posted September 15, 2007 Posted September 15, 2007 Hit the right thread this time! Just seen the nailed on penalty that Pompey should have had against Liverpool. Scholes at Everton would have been sent off just before half time if his name were Tugay. There is systematic refereeing bias in favour of the big 4- no doubt about it. No referee bias in Spuds 1 Arsenal 3- the only points Wenger's whingers have dropped so far this season have been at Ewood. Hopefully Lippi has said yes to being Spuds' coach.

I actually think that was one of the best officiated games I've seen for a while. Good hard play but did not allow it to get out of hand. We are all aware of the bias, too bad the FA have not figured out yet it is only hurting football. Hard to be bias in Spurs v Arse, Arsenal being one of the big four and Spurs being a media favorite as a pretender for being one of. Watched the Spurs Arsenal match, most of it, thought Arsenal looked very very good. Either it is a compliment to how we played or they had an off day. The were delightful to watch at times, looked a little toothless without Henri but if they get past that more fools those that wrote them of. When Henri was there you thought they could score anytime now they don't seem that way, that said they still banged in 3 at WHL and squandered several more. All around a very enjoyable game, atmosphere good hard nosed footy and some sweet passing and technique on display. Have not seen any other highlights, will keep an eye out for the penalty shout though.
thenodrog Posted September 16, 2007 Posted September 16, 2007 Watching MoTD and it appears that I must have missed something recently. Has Steve Bruce finally come out of the closet or is he after a part-time job in one of Sullivans gayboy vids? His poofy hair-do looks absolutely ridiculous on him..... even when taking into account his classic profile and chiselled movie star features. Lipstick on a pig.... as they say.
philipl Posted September 18, 2007 Posted September 18, 2007 This had me chuckling in the BBC: Jurgen Klinsmann says he is not interested in managing Tottenham because they are too small and he wants to take charge at a Champions League club.
KimberleyBRFC Posted September 18, 2007 Posted September 18, 2007 Maybe we should loan Bollock and Shevchenko from Chelsea in Janurary-providing we only pay up to 40% of their wages Nah, can't see it happening either. They wouldn't get a look in our superior squad
USABlue Posted September 23, 2007 Author Posted September 23, 2007 Derby look pretty well screwed. I thought Boro and Sunderland was a good game. I almost did not watch it, even though it is a derby I thought it would be a dull affair but it was thoroughly entertaining.
Roar of the Rover Posted September 23, 2007 Posted September 23, 2007 Arsenal are so good at Home, yes i know it was only Derby but the way they played againts Sevilla was awesome. It's going to be a top tile race this season, not alot of people were expecting Arsenal to be in the position they are in.
Eddie Posted September 23, 2007 Posted September 23, 2007 Saw this on the BBC: 1536 BST: "I must be the only Chelsea fan looking forward to this (in a strange kind of way admittedly). If Grant does lead us down the plughole and we start dropping points every week, it'll hopefully make the defeats slightly less painful and the wins slightly more enjoyable in their rarity. Hopefully." Gibbo via text on 81111
speeeeeeedie Posted September 24, 2007 Posted September 24, 2007 Some good games this weekend, but they were all drowned by the Man U-Chelsea express. Arsenal have started very well, and Liverpool seem to be having their usual Autumn drop point fest after a bright start. Roy Carroll's Chelsea bully boy article in the other thread was interesting. Should the ref have booked Terry for trying to stop him from showing the card to Mikel? Robbie Savage would have been sent off for the same thing.
roversmum Posted September 24, 2007 Posted September 24, 2007 That was a total disgrace in my opinion. Terry should have got a yellow for that. Talk about arrogant.
USABlue Posted September 29, 2007 Author Posted September 29, 2007 Quick comment on the Drogba incident, commentator bias again. The commentator was defending Drogba as accidental but if you watch the replay he has a quick little look to see where the Fulham bloke is. He knew what he was doing, might not have intended to do him in the head but I don't think it was any accident. Two sendings off in two consecutive league games, can we expect the press to be full of Bully Boy and Dirty team comments.
philipl Posted October 1, 2007 Posted October 1, 2007 This had me chuckling: Kolo Toure swapped shirts with West Ham's Henri Camara on Saturday - and then promptly threw it to the Arsenal fans in the away section. (Daily Mirror)
speeeeeeedie Posted October 1, 2007 Posted October 1, 2007 Not a mention of Portsmouth-Reading yet? It was a great game. Kamikaze defending, lucky goals, and lots of action. Terrible for coaches though. Imagine scoring 4 and losing? Man U were boring, Liverpool were lucky, Arsenal worked hard, City seem to have a bit of spark, and the rest I don't care about or did not see. I think the top half of the league will be tighter than last season. The big 4 aren't rolling over everyone like last year. The chasers are all better; us, Villa, West Ham, Everton, City, Portsmouth, Newcastle. Chelsea are a shell of the team they were last season. They will not win anything at this rate which pleases me no end. I also reckon that the bottom teams are worse. Derby are done for and you can pick 2 from Wigan, Sunderland, Reading, Fulham, and Boro even though they all have the potential to do well.
USABlue Posted October 1, 2007 Author Posted October 1, 2007 Utd have not looked good at all to me so far. From what I have seen of the "Big Four" to date I would say at the moment Arsenal look most likely to win the league.
