Neil Weaver Posted September 16, 2008 Posted September 16, 2008 What's ridiculous is it's not dropped to a yellow - just wiped out altogether. True, but I heard they couldn't do that. Rule (yes I know) is that a straight red can't be 'downgraded' to a yellow - it's all or nothing. Vidic's was two yellows, so I would guess that could have been 'downgraded' to just one yellow. [Cynical mode on] Still, what's the more serious offence - a rugby tackle or a light tap to an opponents' face (Aliadiere at Liverpool at the end of last season)?...... To answer my own question, I suppose it depends if your England's captain. [cynical mode off]

Hughesy Posted September 16, 2008 Posted September 16, 2008 Utter rubbish - it was cynical, it would of left two against 1, and that 1 had to get accross the pitch 1st so you could argue he was through on goal, afterall he isnt a slow player. Im sure had it been Samba then it would of stood.

Im sure had it been Samba then it would of stood. Of course it would. The guy they interviewed on the radio tried to tell us that if it had been a Luton town player or whatever the decision would have been the same but we all know it wouldn't. It's that refusal to face facts that annoys me and many other fans.
PMT Posted September 16, 2008 Posted September 16, 2008 I suppose I am sure Spurs will eventually get out of the bottom 3. I'm less confident about us. I'm less confident about us as well - that's why it's important to enjoy any small bits of joy e.g. the prospect that Bentley may not play Champions League football for the next two seasons, Curbishley and Neill falling out, Allardyce not having a job, etc. etc.
Presty On Tour Posted September 16, 2008 Posted September 16, 2008 I see the F.A have overturned Terry's red card, I wonder if they would of done the same for us! Also nice goal by Gerrard tonight and a good open game too.
Anti-Dingle-Brigade Posted September 16, 2008 Posted September 16, 2008 The Liverpool game is super end to end, quick stuff.
tonygreenbank Posted September 16, 2008 Posted September 16, 2008 I suppose I am sure Spurs will eventually get out of the bottom 3. I'm less confident about us. To be honest Spurs looked very poor last night. very lightweight in midfield and Bent is not a natural goal scorer. The Russian looked so slow too. I think Bentley`s career has stalled at the moment. No England place or Tottenham`s guaranteed. The grass always seems greener...

Anti-Dingle-Brigade Posted September 16, 2008 Posted September 16, 2008 Another hat trick for Doyle, he is too good for the Championship.
HemelRover Posted September 16, 2008 Posted September 16, 2008 Ronaldo(the fat one) not going to City. http://www.teamtalk.com/football/story/0,1...4152843,00.html
Grabbi Graeme Posted September 17, 2008 Posted September 17, 2008 It seems Sir Alex is not happy with the decision to cancel John Terry's red card, I think that if Man Utd were not playing Chelsea this week then Fergie wouldn't have mentioned it. Fergie not happy, but when is he?
Rovermatt Posted September 17, 2008 Posted September 17, 2008 F**k Fergie and f**k United. I hope Chelsea give them a lesson at the weekend.
Billy Castell Posted September 17, 2008 Posted September 17, 2008 I hope there are 27 red cards followed by a reacreation of the battle of Waterloo with live ammunition.

Fergie not happy, but when is he? I watched the incident on TV, not knowing that Terry had been sent off and as soon as I saw it I said to my wife ooh that's a red card offence... Sure enough Halsey produced a red card. Terry basically rugby tackled the player while the defensive cover was remote to say the least. The player would have been though on goal with the keeper to beat and Carvalho would have had a hell of a job to get across to make a challenge. It was a yellow at the very least. Someone should ask Fergie how many penalties Scum have conceded at home in the last 17 years and how many times added time has been extended until they scored when, magically just after, the ref blows to end the game. (No, I'm not cynical... )

(No, I'm not cynical... ) Agreed on the Fergie cynicism, he likes a good moan (I wonder if he's a closet Rovers fan?). The problem with Terry was that Halsey deemed Terry to have committed serious foul play, not a professional foul. It wasn't that bad, a booking would have been right, however I also think that if Halsey changed his report to a professional foul Terry would not have got off.
percy Posted September 17, 2008 Posted September 17, 2008 Interesting to see that Craig Fagan has broken his leg as a result of that dreadful Danny Guthrie challenge. I bet Guthrie will not be demonised like Lucas was for his tackle on Carragher! You cant get away with injuring Sir Jamie, but I doubt the media will care about Fagan! and Guthrie has got away without any further charges from the F.A.... bbc.co.uk report "The FA doesn't have the power to extend automatic suspensions. "The only circumstances in which we could take any further action would be to issue an additional charge against a player." So why isn't a further charge implemented by the F.A? Farcical decision....
Hughesy Posted September 17, 2008 Posted September 17, 2008 Pathetic! Out of character or not, Guthrie lost his rag and went to hurt fagan, which he suceeded in doing - he should now face a much longer ban. Pathetic, just because it was against Hull, rather than Arsenal or some Media loved club!
Billy Castell Posted September 17, 2008 Posted September 17, 2008 I hate how John Terry always gets away with screaming at the ref, fouling players and so on just because he's 'England's best defender'. Guthrie was damned lucky with a 3 match ban.
Hughesy Posted September 17, 2008 Posted September 17, 2008 Terry should of still got a ban. It should of been a yellow at least for his rugby tackle and another yellow for his lack of respect for the referee.
CrazyIvan Posted September 17, 2008 Posted September 17, 2008 http://www.thefa.com/TheFA/Disciplinary/Po...harge_Sep08.htm Moyes in trouble with the FA again...
misterbigalow Posted September 17, 2008 Posted September 17, 2008 I think the decent thing now would be Newcastle coming out and saying they will ban Guthrie for a further few games after his 3 match ban. Obviously that won't happen, but there we go. Newcastle? Decent? HAHAHA!
67splitscreen Posted September 17, 2008 Posted September 17, 2008 Mike Ashley. doppelganger Nice swing
American Rover12 Posted September 18, 2008 Posted September 18, 2008 I hope there are 27 red cards followed by a reacreation of the battle of Waterloo with live ammunition. good one that
