Personall, what i find more disturbing than rescinding the card is that Halsey has been demoted a couple of divisions, which referee will now have the guts to show a red card to Terry, with a message shown that the guilty referee will be downgraded.......

Dont think you'll find Halsey has been demoted, the referees are given their fixtures for the month well in advance.

Going back to red card of John Terry there seems to be an unwritten rule for England captains, the FA support England captains through the bad times as well as the good times, its always been the case, this just seems one small example of supporting the national capatain.

Are you suggesting that failing to punish the England captain appropriately for a deliberate foul, (even if by their own rules they can't do anything about the card they can censure him fairly strongly) is supporting him? It's not. It's letting him get away with something he quite simply should not be getting away with and saying he's untouchable. Terry has always got away with things. we've all seen him commit fouls that any other player would get cards for, time after time. It's a shame that this time when a ref actually acted strongly against him he got away with it. How is the poor little dear ever meant to learn how to behave if nobody's ever allowed to say "that's enough"

Yes, it makes the England captains disciplinary record LOOK GOOD, England cant have a bad image of their captain on the international stage can they.

The FA did have the slightest of slightest cases with anther defender closer to goal than Terry was which they used, but the rugby tackle at the end was a definite red card.

Well, there were plenty who couldn't understand how he got the captaincy in the first place but it doesn't say much for us if we need to make him look good. to whom? Most English fans know he's a nasty piece of work. we've already seen enough evidence in the papers and on field with our own eyes. Surely they should have gone with the line of "Even the England Captain is going to get a severe penalty if he steps out of line." Sends out a much better message to young kids, the general public and other countries that despite what he earns he can still be done for the kind of thing he did at the weekend.

The ref acted strongly and wrongly by calling it serious foul play. It was never a red and he rightly got his ban taken away and Hasley has again proven what an inept ref he is.

There were a few (obviously not the majority)on the FA committee that hinted to Capello that they didnt think Terry should be the national captain obviously they've had to back Capello's decision.

Mike Riley is the ref for the Chelsea- Man Utd game on Sunday and according to the Sun he's the least hated ref between the two sides, although any dodgy decisions could change that especially with Fergie.

Riley is liked, for now

Just shows what a bloody big club biased git he's been in the past imo!

Anyway since they are apparently (and ludicrously) allowing clubs to pick the referee I expect us never to see messrs Riley, Wylie, Halsey and Clattenberg at ewood ever again!

What are you on about? Clattenberg/Clattenburg gives us as many penalties as he can.

All hail Arsene Wenger's total football.

The man is pioneering the modern total football with midfielders genuinely comfortable in any position. Who would have predicted their team today? Eboue left wing - LEFT WING?! This is the right back who was apparently on the way out after failing at his defensive duties. And then there was Denilson playing right wing - a guy who has played the central defensive role in midfield for much of this season and, incidentally, is only months older than Keith Treacy.

As much as it was painfully to watch Arsenal destroy Rovers, the attacking play was mesmerising. Today, against Bolton, they scored more spectacular goals, that epitomised the height of pace, skill, vision and movement.

I can't see their team winning the Champions League. Even the Premier League might be too much. But who cares? They play such delightful football. Wenger's not playing supermarket management - snaffling ready-made players off the shelf to fit into his team. He doesn't have a team of £20 million signings in every position.

Yes, he spends money. But he also does something that no-one else does. He nurtures his young players and reaps the rewards. Perhaps, he can be criticised for not promoting as many of his English youngsters but that's a minor criticism, imo. He has a very fixed idea of what he expects from his players. He wants a genuine desire to excel and a love for playing football. The players that give him that are in the hands of one of the best managers in the world.

Villa looking comfortable against West Brom, 2-0 now.

They have pace, youth, British players, good manager and generally a lot of good things going for them. Plus the fact they have a foreign owner who seems sensible and lets the manager manage.

Should have a good season.

I was also going to say they have a decent goalkeeper as well :P

Attacking wise i have to agree, though i think they are weak defensively.

Uefa Cup and nothing more in terms of the league. They will be like Spurs, having to rely on scoring more goals than their opposition to get points.

Some people like talking about 'attacking football', but Villa have the raw ingredients within their squad to actually play it. Pace, power, ability, youth and also, they have players who can pass the ball really well (Barry, Sidwell).

Intresting scorelines so far:

City beating Pompey 6-0- Pompey look really weak compared to last season, in particular in midfield. Some bad errors by David James.

Hull 2-2 Everton- Everton coming back from two goals down, having to work hard to get some points is good for us as Everton have a small squad and may feel a bit of fatigue in our midweek carling cup meeting.

Spurs 0-0 Wigan- LOL at Spurs. How much longer has Ramos got left?

City looking good. 5-0 VS a good Pompey side. Robinho, Jo and Wright-Phillips all linking in great together. Look a quality side do City, maybe just maybe a team that could compete for CL but is still too early to say.

I was actually looking forward to the Rovers-City game, i'm not anymore

Edit: make that 6-0 now

Spurs fans booing the team and Bentley getting a lot of flack on the Spurs message boards, apparently they feel they were "ripped off"

Couldn't happen to a nicer club, hope Ramos gets booted out and there is such turmoil that they get relegated.

We'll have him back then.
