Some people like talking about 'attacking football', but Villa have the raw ingredients within their squad to actually play it. Pace, power, ability, youth and also, they have players who can pass the ball really well (Barry, Sidwell).

...and bagloads of money. You forgot about the king's ransom they've spent aquiring all those raw ingredients.

I was referring to our own manager, who will quickly learn (or maybe he has already) that to play attacking football you need the players to do so.

Also, makes me laugh when I read people saying Hughes did not like or want to play attacking football with us. See above.

Swaggering Manchester City turned on the style with a devastating display of attacking football to crush Portsmouth at a buoyant Eastlands.

He didn't because we didn't have the players to play that sort of football. We had Robbie Savage, Aaron Mokoena, Paul Dickov none of them have any flair. City have the likes of Robinho, Jo, Wright-Phillips, Ireland, Elano, Petrov etc. With that sort of squad you have to play attacking football, you would be plain stupid not to. But with Rovers he didn't have them kind of players, so he played the "in your face" tactics. We were hard to beat, rough, tough and full of energy. We didn't have much attacking football at Ewood under Sparky, especially in his final season. Best times under Sparky was when we had Bellamy, he had pace and thats what made our football exciting. After he went, our "attacking" football went.

So where are those numpties who dismissed SWP as a speed merchant and nought else. Perhaps, he doesn't have it to star in a major team - but the boy has real talent.

Harry Redknapp has descended into something like foolery. Why on earth did he sign Kaboul? He seems to have this delusional moments, like when he signed Djimi Traore. Alan Pardew still hasn't recovered from the shock that someone was prepared to pay over a million for that lump of waste.

I'm sure "even" Ince could add a bit of attacking flair if he was permitted to spend 42m on two players!

Anyway how come Pompey last 6-0 I thought 'Arry was the greatest English manager since sliced bread!

And..........it'll never happen but wouldn't it be sweet if Spurs and DB went down! There were reports in one of the Sunday tabloids today that Ramos is homesick and wants to leave WHL already.

Apparently DB got jeered off when subbed by Spuds after 65 minutes yesterday. I saw a report that Bentley is deteriorating from the poor form he showed at the end of his time with Blackburn.

Is this going to be yet another player whose career peaked at Ewood?

Please be true.

Isn't DB being played on the left of a five man midfield?

At yido mate of mine, was worried that DB being played out of position would lead to a deterioration of form and confidence. I personally can't understand why Ramos is doing this..

I want him to stay at the yids. He's doing a great job so far! I'd love Stan Ternant or Chris Waddle to move in if he does go.

It was actually quite enjoyable to watch Man.City tear Portsmouth apart. Robinho's had a real effect on the club, and his composure is rubbing off on the other players.

Why didn't Ince try to sign him when the window was open!? <_<

I wonder if Robinho will be as good against Hull on a cold, wet Wednesday evening in Janurary. Yes it is an old chestnut, but there's something about him that suggests he may be a bit tempramental like Anelka. I'm waiting for the "Manchester is a dump, the women are ugly and British people are awful" interview in a foreign newspaper.

Good point, a number of foreign players start strongly and fade as soon as the winter starts......the best foreign players have been those who managed to play well on Monday nights in January ........they do suddenly start playing well once April arrives... :D

Wondering if Bentley is going to join the vast list of players who have done well at our club then really struggled at another.

Possibly, although I'm not surprised he's playing badly in the middle. I always thought he was poor for us when Hughes did it with him last season.

Belhadj and Traoré are both left wing-backs though...so I'm not sure how they lined up. I have no idea idea what Harry is doing there this season to be honest, this was their line-up: James, Johnson, Distin, Campbell, Belhadj, Diarra, Davis, Kaboul, Armand Traore, Crouch, Defoe.

8/10 outfield players there are defenders or defensive midfielders. Hopefully they'll continue like that because they'll really struggle this season if they do.
