Blue n White Rover Posted September 21, 2008 Posted September 21, 2008 Spurs fans booing the team and Bentley getting a lot of flack on the Spurs message boards, apparently they feel they were "ripped off" Couldn't happen to a nicer club, hope Ramos gets booted out and there is such turmoil that they get relegated. Pressure of playing at a "big" club

1864roverite Posted September 21, 2008 Posted September 21, 2008 He got subbed didnt he ? Now he is another making an arse of himself !!!
Exiled_Rover Posted September 21, 2008 Posted September 21, 2008 Some people like talking about 'attacking football', but Villa have the raw ingredients within their squad to actually play it. Pace, power, ability, youth and also, they have players who can pass the ball really well (Barry, Sidwell). ...and bagloads of money. You forgot about the king's ransom they've spent aquiring all those raw ingredients.
John Posted September 21, 2008 Posted September 21, 2008 I was referring to our own manager, who will quickly learn (or maybe he has already) that to play attacking football you need the players to do so. Also, makes me laugh when I read people saying Hughes did not like or want to play attacking football with us. See above. Swaggering Manchester City turned on the style with a devastating display of attacking football to crush Portsmouth at a buoyant Eastlands.

He didn't because we didn't have the players to play that sort of football. We had Robbie Savage, Aaron Mokoena, Paul Dickov none of them have any flair. City have the likes of Robinho, Jo, Wright-Phillips, Ireland, Elano, Petrov etc. With that sort of squad you have to play attacking football, you would be plain stupid not to. But with Rovers he didn't have them kind of players, so he played the "in your face" tactics. We were hard to beat, rough, tough and full of energy. We didn't have much attacking football at Ewood under Sparky, especially in his final season. Best times under Sparky was when we had Bellamy, he had pace and thats what made our football exciting. After he went, our "attacking" football went.
rover6 Posted September 21, 2008 Posted September 21, 2008 So where are those numpties who dismissed SWP as a speed merchant and nought else. Perhaps, he doesn't have it to star in a major team - but the boy has real talent. Harry Redknapp has descended into something like foolery. Why on earth did he sign Kaboul? He seems to have this delusional moments, like when he signed Djimi Traore. Alan Pardew still hasn't recovered from the shock that someone was prepared to pay over a million for that lump of waste.
Eddie Posted September 21, 2008 Posted September 21, 2008 More to the point, maybe people can see what pace really does. City's attacking football was mostly pace. I think their bubble will burst and I doubt Robinho will keep it up, I'm still looking forward to playing them.
RevidgeBlue Posted September 21, 2008 Posted September 21, 2008 Also, makes me laugh when I read people saying Hughes did not like or want to play attacking football with us. See above. Swaggering Manchester City turned on the style with a devastating display of attacking football to crush Portsmouth at a buoyant Eastlands. I'm sure "even" Ince could add a bit of attacking flair if he was permitted to spend 42m on two players! Anyway how come Pompey last 6-0 I thought 'Arry was the greatest English manager since sliced bread! And..........it'll never happen but wouldn't it be sweet if Spurs and DB went down! There were reports in one of the Sunday tabloids today that Ramos is homesick and wants to leave WHL already.
philipl Posted September 22, 2008 Posted September 22, 2008 Apparently DB got jeered off when subbed by Spuds after 65 minutes yesterday. I saw a report that Bentley is deteriorating from the poor form he showed at the end of his time with Blackburn. Is this going to be yet another player whose career peaked at Ewood?
AussieinUk Posted September 22, 2008 Posted September 22, 2008 There were reports in one of the Sunday tabloids today that Ramos is homesick and wants to leave WHL already. Please be true. I saw a report that Bentley is deteriorating from the poor form he showed at the end of his time with Blackburn. Isn't DB being played on the left of a five man midfield? At yido mate of mine, was worried that DB being played out of position would lead to a deterioration of form and confidence. I personally can't understand why Ramos is doing this..
Billy Castell Posted September 22, 2008 Posted September 22, 2008 And..........it'll never happen but wouldn't it be sweet if Spurs and DB went down! There were reports in one of the Sunday tabloids today that Ramos is homesick and wants to leave WHL already. I want him to stay at the yids. He's doing a great job so far! I'd love Stan Ternant or Chris Waddle to move in if he does go.
JC4LAB Posted September 22, 2008 Posted September 22, 2008 Papertalk is full of ex Rovers are soon to be offloaded .Bellamy, Neill,Duff. I would welcome them all back..
Billy Castell Posted September 22, 2008 Posted September 22, 2008 Then you must be mad! Duff isn't half th player he was, Bellamy is an injury prone twerp who only works well with Hughes, and Neill's wage demands will be massive.
Amo Posted September 22, 2008 Posted September 22, 2008 It was actually quite enjoyable to watch Man.City tear Portsmouth apart. Robinho's had a real effect on the club, and his composure is rubbing off on the other players. Why didn't Ince try to sign him when the window was open!?
gumboots Posted September 22, 2008 Posted September 22, 2008 Cost of SWP and robinho = cost of buying Rovers give or take a few million
Billy Castell Posted September 22, 2008 Posted September 22, 2008 I wonder if Robinho will be as good against Hull on a cold, wet Wednesday evening in Janurary. Yes it is an old chestnut, but there's something about him that suggests he may be a bit tempramental like Anelka. I'm waiting for the "Manchester is a dump, the women are ugly and British people are awful" interview in a foreign newspaper.
CrazyIvan Posted September 22, 2008 Posted September 22, 2008 http://www.guardian-series.co.uk/sport/loc...y_at_Tottenham/ Hee hee...
Billy Castell Posted September 22, 2008 Posted September 22, 2008 We should put in a loan bid in Janurary just for a laugh. And if he takes us up on the offer, pull out at the last minute.

I'm waiting for the "Manchester is a dump, the women are ugly and British people are awful" interview in a foreign newspaper. Good point, a number of foreign players start strongly and fade as soon as the winter starts......the best foreign players have been those who managed to play well on Monday nights in January ........they do suddenly start playing well once April arrives...
RibbleValleyRover Posted September 22, 2008 Posted September 22, 2008 Wondering if Bentley is going to join the vast list of players who have done well at our club then really struggled at another.
LeChuck Posted September 22, 2008 Posted September 22, 2008 Wondering if Bentley is going to join the vast list of players who have done well at our club then really struggled at another. Possibly, although I'm not surprised he's playing badly in the middle. I always thought he was poor for us when Hughes did it with him last season.
92er Posted September 22, 2008 Posted September 22, 2008 http://www.guardian-series.co.uk/sport/loc...y_at_Tottenham/ Hee hee... I read in the Sunday Telegraph DB saying that Spurs had a number of players who had moved to the club, were looking for new homes etc and were just generally trying to find their feet. Maybe we'll put a £5mill bid in for him......and he'll remember he's always been a Rovers fan.
92er Posted September 22, 2008 Posted September 22, 2008 Did Pompey play the 3-5-2 again? Good spot-according to the Daily Telegraph, they did.
LeChuck Posted September 22, 2008 Posted September 22, 2008 Belhadj and Traoré are both left wing-backs though...so I'm not sure how they lined up. I have no idea idea what Harry is doing there this season to be honest, this was their line-up: James, Johnson, Distin, Campbell, Belhadj, Diarra, Davis, Kaboul, Armand Traore, Crouch, Defoe. 8/10 outfield players there are defenders or defensive midfielders. Hopefully they'll continue like that because they'll really struggle this season if they do.
