Rovermatt Posted September 27, 2008 Posted September 27, 2008 Fair play to Hull but that result is indicative of the problems that beset this current Arsenal side. They'll never win the league if they don't want to shoot at goal.

novella Posted September 27, 2008 Posted September 27, 2008 Well played Hull. Makes our draw against them look decent.
Tim Southampton Rover Posted September 27, 2008 Posted September 27, 2008 BBC commentator just revealed that Hull have already equalled Derby's points total from last season. How Derby were ever promoted i'll never know. They were so playing awful football in the Championship before their wonderful spell in the Premier League last season. I don't believe there will ever be a worse team in the history of the top flight than Derby.
thenodrog Posted September 27, 2008 Posted September 27, 2008 Well played Hull. Makes our draw against them look decent. Alternatively it reflects badly on our performance against Arsenal!
novella Posted September 27, 2008 Posted September 27, 2008 Alternatively it reflects badly on our performance against Arsenal! swings and roundabouts
FINRover Posted September 27, 2008 Posted September 27, 2008 This is very good think for Premierleague. Good job Hull City.
grizfoot Posted September 27, 2008 Posted September 27, 2008 swings and roundabouts Is that where the Arsenal team was today.

T4E Posted September 27, 2008 Posted September 27, 2008 Can links to websites showing todays goals please not be posted. Hi Ricky, Got your PM, tried to respond but your inbox is full. Fair do's though buddy, it hadn't even occured to me that it wasn't legal but I'm pretty sure it wouldn't be now you mention it. Sorry about that! Cheers
Bobby G Posted September 27, 2008 Posted September 27, 2008 West Ham quietly popping up this season, despite the fact that they didnt recruit any notable signings, lost their manager and are not the most stable club at the moment due to the Tevez fiasco...

Hasta Posted September 27, 2008 Posted September 27, 2008 Just seen the 'penalty' Ronaldo got awarded today. Shocker. The Bolton defender won the ball cleanly and the ref seemed to be in a perfect position to see it. Damn good job that was today and not against us next week.
roversmum Posted September 27, 2008 Posted September 27, 2008 He's had some practice for our match though.
American Posted September 27, 2008 Posted September 27, 2008 West Ham quietly popping up this season, despite the fact that they didnt recruit any notable signings, lost their manager and are not the most stable club at the moment due to the Tevez fiasco... We were talking on chat after the match about how this is one of those seasons where pretty much anyone can win on a given week. West Ham is starting to look good and clubs like Sunderland look like they could go on a run at some point. I think spots 4-20 will be fairly wide open - even Stoke don't look like quite the walkover they did before the season began (still expect them to finish bottom).

I think spots 4-20 will be fairly wide open - even Stoke don't look like quite the walkover they did before the season began (still expect them to finish bottom). I hope so, footballs appeal is because of that. The best things that could happen to footie are, in order: 1) A team other then the "big four" win the Premier League. 2) two different teams qualify for the CL 3) All three of the promoted teams don't get relegated 4) A team outside the "big four" win the FA cup (amazingly this happened last year! Long may it continue) In a weird way even the "big four" themselves rely on it. Football depends, like all sport, on unpredictability. It is getting too regimented. If it stays like that in England people will lose interest, especially in foreign countries.
1864roverite Posted September 28, 2008 Posted September 28, 2008 Sounds like there are major behind the scene issues at Portsmouth. £60m already in debt. £20m PLUS still owed in transfer payments for 2008 alone. £25m year loss to be reported for 2008. £75m to be found for the stadium rebuild. Estimated turnover for 2008/09 £62m with a wage percentage of 90%. Now, I only got o level maths back in 1983 but surely those figures just dont show anything positive

Now, I only got o level maths back in 1983 but surely those figures just dont show anything positive The previously published loss for 2007 was £33m and I am not surprised they are still losing. The total stadium construction costs are in the £200-£300m range.
RibbleValleyRover Posted September 28, 2008 Posted September 28, 2008 Pompey beating Spurs 1-0. If the result stays like this i wonder how long Ramos has got left. I'd love to see them get relegated.

But seriously it's a shocking state of affairs for the FA Cup holders! An FA Cup win would once provide financial stanility for a few years.
Anti-Dingle-Brigade Posted September 28, 2008 Posted September 28, 2008 2-0 Pompy. Oh dear David. :D :D
Grabbi Graeme Posted September 28, 2008 Posted September 28, 2008 Pompey 2-0 up against Spurs now Pavlychenko taken off and replaced by Darren Bent and cries of you dont know what your doing from the spurs fans, how long has Ramos got left
vintageadidas Posted September 28, 2008 Posted September 28, 2008 Spurs are very poor. DB looks a shadow of the player he was at Ewood.
1864roverite Posted September 28, 2008 Posted September 28, 2008 Totally agree VA Bentley is a pale shadow of his former self, like he was at Norwich before Rovers rescued his career. Looks more like he has been found wanting in the fishbowl that is spuds fc
philipl Posted September 28, 2008 Posted September 28, 2008 I am astonished at how poor Bentley is looking after a lively opening few minutes. "I don't know where the Blackburn David Bentley has gone. He's slow, cumbersome and has had absolutely no impact on this game." BBC Radio 5 Live's Steve Claridge Lennon's final ball has been the usual absolute disgrace. To Pompey and the Guardian have this: In the wake of some Sunday press speculation about Alexandre Gaydamak's plans for Pompey, the club have released a statement clarifying that there are no current plans to seek new investment at Fratton Park. "The club's owner has already stated that the club is not for sale but, as with all businesses, should the right offer be forthcoming serious consideration would be given to the proposal," read the statement. "The financial position of the club is fully audited and is consistent with its peers in the football industry. The club's growth and performance over the last 2½ years is evidence of how well the club is managed." Make of that what you will. What I make of it is the Gaydamaks are desperate to sell and not having much luck. Papa's just lost a cool 400 million and switched off the taps at Beitar Jerusalem and the same is going to happen at Pompey if they don't sell first. The player sales at Pompey if the Gaydamaks are still there in January will be eye-popping.
