Hughesy Posted September 29, 2008 Posted September 29, 2008 No thanks. He has burned his bridges when he hardly acknowledged our club for helping him get to where he is now. We saved him, progressed his career and made him a better player, but he didn’t acknowledge it. Enjoy spurs Bentboy!
Wild Irish Rover Posted September 29, 2008 Posted September 29, 2008 Saw this on the BBC text commentary on the Spuds game yesterday.St Totteringham's Day.- gave me a chuckle.. Link sorted now... I suspect St Totteringham's Day will fall early this season

Driftpeasant Posted September 30, 2008 Posted September 30, 2008 Saw this on the BBC text commentary on the Spuds game yesterday.St Totteringham's Day.- gave me a chuckle.. Link sorted now... I suspect St Totteringham's Day will fall early this season Do we have St. Walker's day, defined as the day when Burnley cannot possibly catch us? Or is that just every day?
CrazyIvan Posted September 30, 2008 Posted September 30, 2008 Do we have St. Walker's day, defined as the day when Burnley cannot possibly catch us? Or is that just every day? Yeah, it's the day we know they can't get promoted i.e. the first day of the new season!
philipl Posted October 4, 2008 Posted October 4, 2008 Ok not Premier League but a Murray League latest score: Brighton 3-2 Cheltenham L Murray 1 Murray 7 Murray 47 ...................Murray 2 ...................Murray 45+2
Grabbi Graeme Posted October 4, 2008 Posted October 4, 2008 Sunderland have took the lead against Arsenal, would be Arsenal's 3rd defeat this season
ffan Posted October 4, 2008 Posted October 4, 2008 The sooner clueless Hodgson buggers off the better.
Frisky Jim Posted October 4, 2008 Posted October 4, 2008 The sooner clueless Hodgson buggers off the better. Playing players out of position by any chance?
Hughesy Posted October 5, 2008 Posted October 5, 2008 Cracking comeback by the scousers - anyone else watch it? Hughes & Co booed off after leading 2-0 to lose 3-2 ha ha! Skirtel looked a bad injury, broken leg surely!
benlloninho Posted October 5, 2008 Posted October 5, 2008 Was it broken? I saw the slow motion replay and I thought he just twisted his knee. Maybe my mind is playing tricks on me, leg breaks make me feel pretty woozy. Wow, didn't mean to rhyme like that.
RoverRich Posted October 5, 2008 Posted October 5, 2008 Our draw against Hull looks a better result every week! Fair play to them, they are doing well and Geovanni was an inspired signing!
92er Posted October 5, 2008 Posted October 5, 2008 There was an interesting article by Patrick Barclay in the Sunday Telegraph today with the headline " Govt must act now to avoid meltdown". He showed a table, based on the 2006/7 finishing places to highlight the Premier League's top 10 debtors that also showed the annual wages bill. I show debt first, followed by the wages bill MU £605m, £92m Chelsea £620m, £133m Liverpool £57m, £78m Arsenal £268m, £90m AV, £63m, £43m Middlesborough £85m, £38m Newcastle £69m, £62m MC £103m, £37m, WHU £142m, £44m Fulham £182m, £35m Apart from wondering if Platini will be able to introduce a level playing field, I was shocked at the total indebtness of the clubs, and surpried at the amounts owed by Middlesborough and Fulham.
philipl Posted October 5, 2008 Posted October 5, 2008 There was an interesting article by Patrick Barclay in the Sunday Telegraph today with the headline " Govt must act now to avoid meltdown". He showed a table, based on the 2006/7 finishing places to highlight the Premier League's top 10 debtors that also showed the annual wages bill. I show debt first, followed by the wages bill Updating the figures- MU £605m, £92m NOW £850m+ £110m Chelsea £620m, £133m NOW £650m £160m But owner debt so can be cancelled Liverpool £57m, £78m NOW £320m £90m with stadium project imploding Arsenal £268m, £90m NOW £250m £100m debts linked to property and low interest rate bonds AV, £63m, £43m But owner debt so can be cancelled Middlesborough £85m, £38m But owner debt so can be cancelled Newcastle £69m, £62m Mike Ashley found it was massively under-stated; NOW £150m,£80m MC £103m, £37m, Also under-stated - what it is now is anybody's guess! WHU £142m, £44m And Iceland is about to go completely bust taking several UK companies with it. Wages went up to £58m Fulham £182m, £35m But owner debt. Rovers NOW £0m, £40m Apart from wondering if Platini will be able to introduce a level playing field, I was shocked at the total indebtness of the clubs, and surprised at the amounts owed by Middlesborough and Fulham. This is the Patrick Barclay article. Looking at it realistically, the Man U and Liverpool debts are enormous problems for their owners who might well take a deep bath when they fail to rollover their borrowings but the clubs would only struggle if the Government/UEFA suddenly move quickly to act on debt. That would only happen if there are some spectacular bankrupcies. As things stand Hearts and West Ham (Barclay mentions Tevez as a prime case of the football authorities failing to regulate) could provide the spectacular crashes that change the climate. Poor old Sheff U might have won their case but never get their cash in the end.
Rovermatt Posted October 5, 2008 Posted October 5, 2008 Awesome, awesome result at Spurs. Come on Bents, what's gone wrong eh?
LeChuck Posted October 5, 2008 Posted October 5, 2008 Very poor goalkeeping from Friedel for Anelka's goal. He's always had a problem with pushing the ball back in to a dangerous area, he had two chances to push that to the side and messed it up both times.
Flopsy Posted October 5, 2008 Posted October 5, 2008 I'm still trying to work out how Hughes could possibly question the sending off of that man Citeh player. I am still laughing at the Spurs result.
grizfoot Posted October 5, 2008 Posted October 5, 2008 Spurs and Citeh losing somewhat brightens up my otherwise pretty crappy weekend.
Billy Castell Posted October 6, 2008 Posted October 6, 2008 I seriously hope someone pulls the plug on the Premiership (and the 'Champions' League). It's too shallow, unequal, bloated and rotten. If you take Hull's success out of the equation, there is more interest in the board rooms than on the pitches. For example the BBC newspaper round up has as much on takeovers involving Everton and Newcastle, as transfers and normal stuff.
Eddie Posted October 6, 2008 Posted October 6, 2008 We are a while from the transfer window, so news is bound to be a bit slow.
philipl Posted October 7, 2008 Posted October 7, 2008 It will be interesting to see if Sepp Blatter's intervention will give cause for concern amongst prospective buyers of football clubs. With all the other uncertainty swilling around, I doubt anybody is going to be buying football clubs at the prices the sellers hope for. There are going to be too many better bargains of all sorts lying around.
Hughesy Posted October 7, 2008 Posted October 7, 2008 Uefa Cup seems to be getting alot more high profile, with much tougher teams in there: Group A Schalke 04 Paris St Germain MANCHESTER CITY Racing Santander FC Twente Group B Benfica Olympiacos Galatasaray Hertha Berlin Metalist Kharkiv Group C Sevilla Stuttgart Sampdoria Partizan Belgrade Standard Liege Group D TOTTENHAM Spartak Moscow Udinese Dinamo Zagreb NEC Nijmegen Group E AC Milan Heerenveen SC Braga PORTSMOUTH Vfl Wolfsburg Group F Hamburg Ajax Slavia Prague ASTON VILLA MSK Zilina Group G Valencia Club Brugge Rosenborg FC Copenhagen Saint-Etienne Group H CSKA Moscow Deportiva La Coruna Feyenoord Nancy Lech Poznan
