pavyluchenko - 14.5m

1st team alone cost approx.£118m, so,so funny that they are so,so bad. Other than Leeds i can't remember wanting to see a team go down so much.

If Benni has managed to get himself into shape, maybe it was the signing of Fowler that encouraged him to pull his socks up. It may not be an obvious consequence but it probably had some impact.

Ince should be given credit for that if it transpires.

Has there ever been a summer transfer window where so many big transfers have been so bad. never been a summer better to keep our money in our pocket.

Jo,keane,elmander,bentley,modric,crouch,berbatov,fellianni,johnson,cisse.

I don't get it. Are you saying all those signings are bad? Crouch and Berbatov have been brilliant, and Cissé has been decent as well. Fellaini, whilst not looking a £15 million player, seems to have settled in quickly. Most Liverpool fans have been very happy with Keane.

Sat watching the Villa game and it is really annoying me that the players have the names on the back of their shirts and they don't begin with a capital letter!

I work in a school with quite a lot of children who support Villa and punctuation is a key issue especially use of capital letters. It is no wonder they don't have a clue really!!!

if he regains form its because hes got himself back in shape instead of the blob that he was,but to say its because of fowler is a bfrcs legendery quote.

Who dropped him? Who sent him away from the first team and told him to get in shape and is now planning on starting him because he has shown improvement in training?

I dont agree with the Fowler thing but one man has to take credit for the turn in Benni and that is PI not MH.

Add at least an extra £20 mill for other players not in the team and it gets even funnier.

yeah, as far as value for money goes they are bad. Berbatov has 3 goals but really has'nt stamped his authority in any match and when i've seen matches on tv you don't even realise the guy is on the pitch for £30m you'd want a hell of a lot more than dubious offside tap ins.

Crouch is doing ok, maybe harsh to compare him to the likes of jo, i'll give you that one. Would'nt however call his return brilliant, i'd call the return zaki's given brilliant.

Ask most liverpool fans their opinion of any of their players and you'll get the same blinkered response, by any other fans standards £20+m for a return of zero league goals in 8 games is bad, and djibrl cisse will always be djibrl cisse and people may keep paying £13m for him but he'll never be worth £13m.

there are different levels of "badness" as regards value for money, with jo and johnson at the very top with felliani and keane battling it out for third i'd suggest

Ince signed somebody who plays in the same position as Benni.

Benni now appears to be trying to sort himself out.

You think these two events are totally unconnected.

Generally if somebody is signed who plays in the same position as yourself, it WILL affect you. Obviously

Oh Spur's - To be bottom of one table is unfortunate, but to be bottom of two... is careless!

Taken from BBC - We've just heard from Spurs defender Jonathan Woodgate. Some strong words from the England international. Asked if they were in a relegation fight, he replied "one million per cent".

It is important! :P

Not only her but me too. It's teachers. They want to carry a big red pen with them all the time and correct everyone's mistakes. I even corrected one Mark Hughes had made on his tactics board the last time I was in the dressing room at Ewood.

I'm shocked, gumboots. I would never have thought it of Mark. Still, he is Welsh I suppose...

In the past few years JW has on a number of occasions made the point that, in general, players purchased should be first teamers and the youth system should provide squad players.

I agree that the signing of Rigters appears not to fall in with the above statement, but I imagine, as with Olson, it might have been a purchase for the future that would hopefully work out.

Dunn(injured),Tugay,Emerton,Reid(although now injured) and Grella would all start in centre midfield before Andrews. Supporters of Andrews have said he is OK, sometimes people say he is good. What I can't fathom, on footballing grounds, why Ince was so keen to sign a squad player when we had funds to bring in a better quality player.

As for Fowler, who I guess is 5th choice striker, why were we bringing him in? OK, if he grabbed his last chance of making it again at Premiership level and had made a pretty quick impact it's a gamble that could be justified. But has he? And signing him meant that less time was being spent on searching out and bringing in more appropriate players.

And people who are not convinced by Ince use these 2 signings as huge question marks about him

I know he only played a cameo role but I thought Andrews acquitted himself well when he came on against Bolton. The fee paid is cheap for a squad player and if Andrews develops further that would be a bonus.Sickening that fans boo when he comes on.

Read the Johann Vogel thread on the Rovers official website.

Admin said:

It is quite straightforward, the manager prefers other players for that position.

and

This is what happens when clubs change managers, people have different ideas.

Bucky, your withdrawal and apology is accepted.

Suggests to me that possibly it might cost the club money to play him. For example Vogel may be on some kind of appearence money which kicks in when he plays so many games. One things for sure he's about our best 'proper' midfield option.... after 38 year old Tugay of course.
