LeChuck Posted October 23, 2008 Posted October 23, 2008 Given that he hadn't played football for the best part of a year, was settling in to a new country and adapting to an entirely new league and style of play, I thought he did very well last season under the circumstances. I was really looking forward to see how he would do this year after a proper pre-season. I'm not sure if theno's theory is right, but I suspect there it is something other than a pure football decision by Ince not to involve him at all. I can't imagine any such rise would kick in after only 7 or so games mind. Appearance money didn't stop him playing Fowler on Saturday either.

It is strange that Ince advocates passing football but someone who has ability in the middle has been ignored when the likes of Reid were given plenty of time before his injury. The Writing was on the wall for Vogel when Ince moved a left back into midfield.
philipl Posted October 24, 2008 Posted October 24, 2008 Suggests to me that possibly it might cost the club money to play him. For example Vogel may be on some kind of appearence money which kicks in when he plays so many games. One things for sure he's about our best 'proper' midfield option.... after 38 year old Tugay of course. I agree that he is Rovers' best proper midfielder after Tugay. He really made things tick in most of the games I saw him play. Anyway, QOTSA has posted that Ince has told him to find another club.

How come you agree with me Gunner? 24 hours ago you said all I do is talk rubbish so who's been talking crap new? .

Anyway, QOTSA has posted that Ince has told him to find another club. Based on the purely arbitrary measure of judging the importance of players by the closeness of their parking space at Brockhall to the manager's, Vogel should be 5th name on teamsheet, after RSC, Dunny, Nelsen, Samba. Fans should also be reassured Fowler & Andrews are somewhere on the outer kerbs, a few in from Ritgers and Gallagher. Maybe Mrs Vogel has moved the nameboard in though? Either that, or he took Bentley's spot
Hughesy Posted October 24, 2008 Posted October 24, 2008 Would you class this as abit of racism from Harry redknapp? "From the start of the game I just felt the referee had no idea whatsoever, it was frightening," said Redknapp. "Where was he from? Slovakia? Slovenia? I'm sure it's a good league there and he's been handling lots of big games."

Al Posted October 24, 2008 Posted October 24, 2008 Ince signed somebody who plays in the same position as Benni. Benni now appears to be trying to sort himself out. You think these two events are totally unconnected. Generally if somebody is signed who plays in the same position as yourself, it WILL affect you. Obviously Give it up Bucky. When you dig yourself into a hole it's better to stop digging. Am I the only one who thinks that Vogel is a lightweight and was not really very good last season?

BuckyRover Posted October 24, 2008 Posted October 24, 2008 Dig myself into a hole? Just because you can't link two related facts together does not mean I am in a hole. I know I am right, and so does any right minded person. Fowler and Benni are similar players, both like to receive the ball in deep positions and both have instinctive finishers. Benni doesn't want to lose his place in the team, has obviously seen how Fowler behaves in training and now wants to replace Fowler in the team. Before he was the only player we had who could be the link between defence and attack. Hopefully this will happen (as I would obvously rather have Benni in the team, he is a brilliant player when his head is in the right place).
den Posted October 24, 2008 Posted October 24, 2008 Am I the only one who thinks that Vogel is a lightweight and was not really very good last season? He just didn't seem to achieve anything in his play. Nice enough passer at times, but no threat whatsoever to the opposition and not the greatest tackler. Neat and tidy seems to cover it.

So you're now claiming that Benni has made an extra effort because of Fowler as fact? You plonker.
BuckyRover Posted October 24, 2008 Posted October 24, 2008 So by bringing Treacy into the team this had no effect on Pedersen, negative or positive? Signing Robinson had no effect on Brown? Making competition for places is beneficial to the team. If you were Benni, and you saw Fowler playing in "your" position? What would you think?? Would you not be embarrassed?? Would you not do something about it? This is not a fact but definitely not improbable

You mean anyone who just happens to agree with your narrow point of view? A classic example of when confidence in one’s opinion is overtaken by willful arrogance. You should learn some humility, after you’ve grown up a little bit of course
BuckyRover Posted October 24, 2008 Posted October 24, 2008 Ok, you keep believing that signing players has no effect on the attitude and mindset of those already in the squad. People were quite quick to make the assumption that signing Fowler would send out the wrong message to the squad and would make our players want to leave, as we were showing no ambition. They obviously didn't care to think about the positive effects it may also have. You keep decrying me to suit your own agenda. My argument stands.

So, according to your warped 'logic'; Fowler deserves a bonus for not playing, rather than playing, 'cos that means he's done his job by convincing Benni to get fit and play instead of him
dingles staying down 4ever Posted October 24, 2008 Posted October 24, 2008 the disagreement between Becky and Leftfooter is pointless until we've seen Benni in proper action. Lets see after tomorrow.
RibbleValleyRover Posted October 24, 2008 Posted October 24, 2008 An Arsenal fan has posted this on the 606 forums, the "Tottenham Rhapsody": Is this the real life.... The Top 4 was fantasy Now we're on the slide No escape from jocularity Open your eyes Look up to Arsenal and see We're just a poor team, never played in the champions league Because we're never high, always low Berbas gone, what a blow Everytime I get stick, pretend it doesn't really matter to me To me Hamburg, they've got our man The man with no hair on his head Martin's gone and now we're dead Damien, the lies had just begun But now Robbie's gone and Juande's thrown it all away Ramos ooo, Ud-in-ese made me cry Seems like you've got no more time to borrow Can't carry on, Can't carry on, as if nothing really matters Too late, our time has come Sends shivers down my spine Stoke are winning - that's not fine Goodbye everybody - we've got to go Gotta leave them all behind and face the drop Bentley ooo You don't wanna try, You sometimes wish you'd never been picked at all We see another North London team E-mir-ates, E-mir-ates will Nasri do the fandango Theo Walcott is lightning - very very frightening thee Fabregas, Fabregas Fabregas-and-Kolo - magnifico Bentley's just a ...... and nobody loves him Can you believe he was Arsenal fam-i-ly And Ledley never plays with his knee injury Ramos come, Martin go - will you let him know Bismillah! no - will you let him know - let him know Bismillah! we will not let him know - let him know Bismillah! we will not let him know - let him know Will not let him know - let him know Will not let him know - let him know No,no,no,no,no,no,no Mama mia, mama mia, mama mia let him know Mr Comolli is the one who picks the side not he, not he, not he So you think you can mock him in the public eye So you think you can blame him and put him out to dry Damien maybe - but don't forget Daniel Levy They've gotta get out - just gotta get right outta here Winning's all that matters Anyone can see Winning's all that matters - but winning isn't that eas-y Anyway the wind blows.... http://www.bbc.co.uk/dna/606/A42584240

Or maybe, I just want you to acknowledge that Fowler wasn't signed to to be Ince's mate, and perhaps he does know what he is doing. If Benni (and it is a big if) does make even a slight return to his first season form, then Ince has to be applauded. That is all I am saying. My mistake previously was saying it obviously made Benni better, that is not a fact, but if he does get better it then all things considered, signing a similar striker to Benni (Fowler) probably had something to do with it.
T4E Posted October 24, 2008 Posted October 24, 2008 If this is the case, why did Benni regress when we signed RSC?
Majiball Posted October 24, 2008 Posted October 24, 2008 Just been reading Ramos's??? comments after the game last night. Words of Wisdom. Ramos, who has overseen Tottenham's worst start to a season in their history, said: "I'm very angry because I don't like to lose. We lost this match in this competition and now we have to win matches to qualify for the next stage." "now we have to win matches to qualify" Wise words indeed who would have thought it eh, and they say coaches on the continent are more clued up than us!!!
