is the wrong that I'm rooting for Hull every game they play not versus us? I love that they're riding this run and think it is great for the game.

No, you won't be the only one.

Considering we are the only team they haven't beaten away from home this season, our 1-1 against them is starting to look like a decent result!

Incorrect and I'm afraid I'm going to have to deduct points, Bucky. Better luck next time.

Your assertion that the signing of Robbie Fowler has improved McCarthy's form is laughable.

Excellent, if you think I am wrong, it makes me even more certain that I am correct

Joe Garner goes straight into Nottingham Forest's starting eleven against Cardiff today.. Will be interesting to see if he can succeed at a decent level.

Or, he may end up like Derbs did at Plymouth when the restless natives hound Calderwood out of a job. Same thing happened when he went Carlisle didn't it, seem to recall? He moved and they sacked manager after the next game?

Credit to Garner though, not many players get two moves 'up' somewhat in such a short space of time. More money dropping into Academy coffers, two incoming fees (inc one sell-on) - good stuff.

Agreed - was thinking same myself earlier; just goes to show the benefit of patience and time in forming opinions.

Ramos' Carling Cup win papered over massive cracks last season.

Then, to sign Bentley but not a left midfielder to replace Malbranque was pretty idiotic. And they needed a top class holding midfielder but opted to buy about 32 left backs.

Sacking Ramos must be something of a dent in their finances - and after splashing reservoirs of cash on new signings, you don't need to be philipl to know that their books aren't going to look good now. (Or can you tell me otherwise, phil?)

Redknapp presumably to join Tottenham unbelievable!!

I think that's called 'double jeopardy' isn't it? Terrific - they deserve each other. Wonder how Harry will go on with his 'little Englander' mentality there then? Especially with Monsieur Comolli & Mr Levy; less chance of money falling down the back of agents' sofas I'd suggest.

Is it just me, or anyone else think Redknapp isn't 'all that'? He gets an easy ride from the media, and I certainly don't get the love-in; the Southampton move showed his real colours.

Edit - believe Comolli has gone too. Wonder how this will affect their search for a buyer? How long before they come knocking for Incey boy if Redknapp's scared of the 'big job' he's never had? (tongue firmly in cheek BTW)

The more I see shenanagins like this, the more satisfied & proud I am with 'little old Blackburn'. As if Pompey didn't have enough problems.

Think Southampton didnt have the cash to fill Harrys boots which hindered greatly his chances at St.Marys, but Spurs have the cash to' do a deal for Harry' to fill his boots in the process - pompey are finished this is the beginning of the end for them.

If Redknapp's supposed to be a good manager, why is he only ever moderately successful when he 'wheels and deals'? I can't recall - possibly Bournemouth maybe - him ever doing anything that didn't involve a high churn of players, some dubious transfers, and lots of flannel in the media.

Good point raised in an earlier post about managers should be able to manage with the squad they have, on the whole. One of our biggest failings was in letting managers spend flippantly and then getting rid of them, leaving a squad of dead wood - sometimes players the manager before the one before the one before had bought.

Ince is motivating the squad he inherited well enough IMO; he's bought players to bide him over (Fowler), one to add to the squad & be his spy in the camp (Andrews), one potential superstar (with a get-out clause if he flopped - CV), Grella-ella-ella-ella & 2 decent goalies (a trick he clearly learnt at Liverpool). Surely he will have a dabble in the market too once he's done his cull come January.

I'm wondering if we may have a few spots in the Prem spare from clubs flopping/folding, Pompey and West Ham must be sailing very close to the wind now. Pompey have over 90% wages/turnover and nothing like the assets we have (Academy, training ground, no debt, decent squad coveted by other clubs, an owner who's not an international fugitive, etc.)

It will be putting a dent in Spurs finances but they made £35m profit last year AFTER transfer and manmagement changes costs.

The interesting one is Pompey- when Newcastle came calling, they gave 'arry a big pay rise and another £10m spending money.

Now the Gaydamaks are so short they have probably driven him to White Hart Lane so they can save on his wages and collect the compensation.

Thats pompey in trouble unless they can find another top manager.

Can understand why he wants to join them as he will have big bucks and alot of big name players to sort out. Big job on though and they just remind me of a richer version of Newcastle but in London.

Looks like the Director of Football idea has been booted out by Harry and he has cleared Poyet out who only recently received a Spurs pledge when he turned Newcastle down (he will be feeling very sore about that one- or maybe not!).

The January window is going to be interesting for certain- there is bound to be some clearing out and buying in at Spurs. Harry is not one to do an Ince and leave a transfer budget unspent.

I wonder if Harry still has such a high regard for Nelsen?

I have to say I am nervous this morning- both Newcastle and Spurs now have managers who are proven relegation scrappers and survivors; if those two pull out of their crises, who is going to get caught? Bolton and Fulham scrapped their way out last season and could do again, Wigan are significantly better than they were last season and the three promoted clubs are putting up a much better fight than most expected with Hull already close to safe having collected 20 points from 9 games.

I am afraid to say that Rovers profile badly having a clear weakness (no effective width) and a manager on whom the jury is still out. I can see us having a bad transfer window (it will be a minor miracle if RSC doesn't get bought) and could easily buy the wrong players- the scenario is worrying.
