RevidgeBlue Posted October 29, 2008 Posted October 29, 2008 Indeed I fear what will happen to the club when he moves on. We will appoint another Chairman, no doubt on an equally lucrative salary, but our fortunes will continue to hinge on how good our manager is, as has always been the case.

Hughesy Posted October 29, 2008 Posted October 29, 2008 agree totally, why are people so focused on us being relegation fodder after 9 games. Ain't it more common for fans to be optimistic glass half full type people.......seriously no clue as to the big downer quite a few board members are on. We are currently mid table and with the squad as is i expect to at least finish a few places higher certainly above.........Bolton,stoke,newcastle,wba,fulham,sunderland,wigan,boro and wham.......that would be an 11th place finish and very achievable with this team. It must be the credit crunch that has them on downers ha ha! In comparison to Adams, Martin O'Neil also started at Wycombe. Unlike Adams he was a success there. He also quietly earned a degree, without hawking his academic ambitions around the BBC and any other media outlet that would listen to him. Another homely example is our very own Paul Ince, who also went to a small unfashionable lower league club to learn his trade. Unlike Adams at Wycombe, Ince saved Macclesfield from near certain relegation. He then went to another lower league club, taking MK Dons to Wembley and winning promotion with them. It's funny to read therefore such an upbeat, almost 'Boys Own' assessment by you of Adams' credentials, when you are so stiff-necked and mealy mouthed with reference to Ince's own managerial prospects. Even more odd is your questioning of his abilities in the transfer market - even though Ince boasts a far superior CV to Adams. Very true. They appoint someone with less experience, and no success as a manager and also no proof that he can handle a job when the pressure gets on. Like you say Ince saved Mac and then got MK promoted. He has also had a very steady start to his time at Blackburn considering he lost 2 of his best 3 players

leftfooter Posted October 29, 2008 Posted October 29, 2008 You've tried deflecting every bit of well deserved criticism over what you said and downplaying it as a bit of a joke and what you said wasn't funny. I've never been part of 'the pack' but I've agreed with every bit of criticism you've received over what you said. I'm not going to say another word on it because I don't want to start it off again. You're best forgetting it too. 'Let sleeping dogs lie'... According to Einstein, “insanity is doing the same thing over and over - and expecting different results…” Take this in good faith Drog, as I would put you on a higher level to the usual Awkward Squad of vapidly quarrelsome Ince detractors (T4E, JAL, Frisky Jim et al...), but please do us all a favour and give the subject a rest already. You're better than that!
ABBEY Posted October 29, 2008 Posted October 29, 2008 just laughing at sky sports text,it say Arry turned up at the ceromony and was booed and jeeered ,who would of thought it haha.Cant beleive his rhino skin at turning up,they do live in a different world and have lost touch with how fans feel.

The media luvvies just don't get it about their mate 'arry, the guy has no shame whatsoever. It would be like one of our managers walking out on us to manage the Dingles, us having the good grace to forgive him and take him back, then him dumping on us again and walking out on us a second time to manage someone else. A few months after he said he was going to finish his career here. I can't believe he had the gall to even turn up for the freedom of the City thing. He should have politely declined after walking out to manage Spuds.
philipl Posted October 29, 2008 Posted October 29, 2008 Which makes Philip's upbeat prognosis of Adams' prospects at Pompey all the more idiosyncratic. Let's see how he does. By all accounts, Adams now is a very serious, focussed and driven individual who has used his time since Wycombe to accumulate a vast knowledge of the game at the top level across the world. A lot of people who have met and interviewed him have been seriously impressed.

A lot of people who have met and interviewed him have been seriously impressed. Agreed - they worked on this overhaul since his Sporting Chance days. Somehow I don't buy into the whole donkey re-branded as Desert Orchid thing though? Somehow seems incongruous to have a limited defender who's forte was playing the offside game, drinking Romford dry and redecorating walls with cars then running away to somehow be considered as a deep, philosophical thinker these days. Wonder if we can send Ince to the same finishing school then?
Exiled in Toronto Posted October 29, 2008 Posted October 29, 2008 Back to 'Arry; does he have his Uefa coaching badges? And what about all these ex-Spurs 'legends' such as , err, Tim Sherwood, he is lining up to be his top tier coaching team, do they? He'll be pinching Winterburn off us next. I think we should be told.
Majiball Posted October 29, 2008 Posted October 29, 2008 btw feet's? God damm spellchecker's, you gotta blame something.
Brfcrule1 Posted October 29, 2008 Posted October 29, 2008 thought this was the best place to put this seems as though Adebayor and Arsenal are at it again I wish there was a link out there it made me laugh. Adebayor has come out and said he wishes teams would come and have a go at the Emirates stadium. In the champs lge. teams express themselves and have to win to qualify for the later stages but is fed-up with teams coming up to the Emirates and playing defensive football "as in football football you have to enjoy yourself it is not all about not trying to lose and if you are playing for Arsenal it is different". Maybe for arsenal winning the premiership is high on their agenda and the cups but someone needs to tell Ade football is about 2 teams trying to win a game or at best getting a point at the Emirates he is obviously still bitter about the Hull defeat, maybe he is still expecting teams to go and do what we did and not turn up with their defence and wants more 6-2's i think at times players come out with such stupid comments anyway the article is in today's metro rant over
LeChuck Posted October 29, 2008 Posted October 29, 2008 To answer your question, what about the old Liverpool 'boot room'? Agree though, it's the exception rather than the rule. That's what I was thinking of as well. It's a long time ago though, especially considering how much clubs have tried it since then. Even Liverpool seem to have ditched the idea though after the less-than-successful Roy Evans era.
brfcshabba Posted October 29, 2008 Posted October 29, 2008 Bentley has scored and it was a pretty good goal. Goals seemed to be steadily flowing now
trs Posted October 29, 2008 Posted October 29, 2008 Bentley has scored and it was a pretty good goal. Goal of the season so far!
misterbigalow Posted October 29, 2008 Posted October 29, 2008 Well that Bentley goal certainly brings my wee-wee to a boil. The guy was complete TOSH every time he played Arsenal with us, and now he's playing fab stuff. Hope he gets injured, ha!
Alex Rover Posted October 29, 2008 Posted October 29, 2008 Johson has put Fulham 1-0 against Wigan. Thanks for letting us know.
T4E Posted October 29, 2008 Posted October 29, 2008 Take this in good faith Drog, as I would put you on a higher level to the usual Awkward Squad of vapidly quarrelsome Ince detractors (T4E, JAL, Frisky Jim et al...), but please do us all a favour and give the subject a rest already. You're better than that! I'm an Ince detractor? How have you come to that conclusion? Also, isn't Frisky Jim a John Williams detractor? Do yourself a favour and actually look to do a bit of research before you show yourself up to be a blind follower.
Amo Posted October 29, 2008 Posted October 29, 2008 Arsenal 2-0 up? I thought Bentley scored for Spurs?
92er Posted October 29, 2008 Posted October 29, 2008 Arsenal 2-0 up? I thought Bentley scored for Spurs? 2-1 then. Fulham leading 2-0. Boro beating City 1-0.
Tim Southampton Rover Posted October 29, 2008 Posted October 29, 2008 I can't see Redknapp keeping that Gomes in goal by the end of January. He's awful at crosses.
92er Posted October 29, 2008 Posted October 29, 2008 Arsenal now leading 3-1. Now it's 4-2 to Arsenal.
Anti-Dingle-Brigade Posted October 29, 2008 Posted October 29, 2008 4-3 Jenas. Bolton 0-1 Everton. Fellaini. 4-4!!!!!!!
