RibbleValleyRover Posted November 2, 2008 Posted November 2, 2008 A lot of City fans on 606 and Blue moon say Hughes is clueless and want him out.
Exiled in Toronto Posted November 2, 2008 Posted November 2, 2008 A lot of City fans on 606 and Blue moon say Hughes is clueless and want him out. I can't believe he'll be around in Jan to spend all that money. And if by some chance he is, I can't see the Sheiks OK-ing his main purchase being a Blackburn forward who so far this season has accumulated more injuries than goals.
Exiled_Rover Posted November 2, 2008 Posted November 2, 2008 Or looking at it another way Philip, we're level on points with Man City, and stil above 'Big Clubs' Spurs and Newcastle. And having picked up a point where Saint Mark of Wrexham and his £100m squad couldn't.
92er Posted November 2, 2008 Posted November 2, 2008 Or looking at it another way Philip, we're level on points with Man City, and stil above 'Big Clubs' Spurs and Newcastle. I can see Spurs getting above us fairly quickly. It might take NU longer.
SIMON GARNERS 194 Posted November 2, 2008 Posted November 2, 2008 Citeh look a million miles away from being a top ten club never mind Champions league!
imy9 Posted November 2, 2008 Posted November 2, 2008 Hughes having a squad consisting of Robinho (£32 million), Jo (£18 million), Wright Phillips (£8 million), Elano (£8 million), one of the best central defensive partnerships in the league, have concended EIGHTEEN goals and lost SIX games!! Saint Mark is a mere mortal after all, I cant see him being in a job in Jaunary to spend all those billions...
gumboots Posted November 2, 2008 Posted November 2, 2008 I can see Spurs getting above us fairly quickly. It might take NU longer. Thought Alan Green got it right yesterday when he said that Spurs haven't actually done anything remarkable yet and that most of what they have done has been down to a big slice of luck i.e. Liverpool being unable to score more than one goal in most games recently, and poor decisions by Arsenal. Watching it live on canal+ just before the equaliser I was screaming at Arsenal to hold the ball in the corner. They hoofed it down the field and Spurs came right back and equalised. If I knew what Arsenal should do, why didn't they? Spurs will climb the table but they won't keep doing as well as they are at the moment. They still have the same poor defence and lightweight midfield and the media darling can't do anything about those till January.
T4E Posted November 2, 2008 Posted November 2, 2008 Well done notlob beating Man City with more comfort than the 2-0 would suggest (even though the lineo was behind the play and missed the blatant offside for the first goal). It wasn't offside, Gardner was ahead of the defence but behind the line of the ball as it was played.

I didn't see any of the games so I was going off the results/goals etc. Indeed, I couln't believe Arsenal not winning. It should be a very interesting match later in the month, with the possibility of their going above us if they win.
trs Posted November 3, 2008 Posted November 3, 2008 Probably a sign of the times, (cedit crunch/sky tv etc) but was surprised to see so many empty seats in the city end at Bolton yesterday.
1864roverite Posted November 3, 2008 Posted November 3, 2008 City fans still protesting at what happened 2 seasons ago when they charged them £39 quid having had agreed a cut price ticket deal earlier on in the season. City fans were promised a £20 ticket deal only to see it blown up in their faces when Bolton found out they had already taken some 5000 pre booked tickets, they promptly upped the prices ! City will never sell out their full allocation at Bolton such is the protest at that clubs failed promises
Hughesy Posted November 3, 2008 Posted November 3, 2008 Very similar to our fans, although this year the prices enticed us back. 21,000 on yesterday - thats not very good against a local team like City.
jim mk2 Posted November 3, 2008 Posted November 3, 2008 Newcastle 2-0 up versus Villa ; the relegation pack is closing in.
AggyBlue Posted November 3, 2008 Posted November 3, 2008 Newcastle 2-0 up versus Villa ; the relegation pack is closing in. Jeeze, we might be down before the end of the month then
grizfoot Posted November 3, 2008 Posted November 3, 2008 Newcastle 2-0 up versus Villa ; the relegation pack is closing in. Or you could look at it that the teams chasing the UEFA cup spots aren't pulling away. Four points cover from Everton in 7th all the way down to West Brom in 19th. Close you could say. This makes these next few months and handful of games even more important. A couple of wins and you could be top half comfortable a few bad results and your in the relegation zone. The quality of teams is very close this year. There's not really much to choose between Rovers, Newcastle, Sunderland, Middlesborough, Bolton, Fulham, Wigan, West Ham and Portsmouth. More than likely one of these teams will go down this year. You'd probably expect Villa, Everton, City and Spurs to be challenging for the UEFA spots but you just never know. Then you've got Hull who have suprised everyone this year combined with Stoke who already have four wins to their name.
T4E Posted November 4, 2008 Posted November 4, 2008 (Scottish) Premier League admittedly, but I was sad to read this morning of the death of Brookes Mileson. http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport2/hi/football/7707081.stm
Rovermatt Posted November 4, 2008 Posted November 4, 2008 Newcastle 2-0 up versus Villa ; the relegation pack is closing in. We're in the * and our next game is Chelsea.
philipl Posted November 4, 2008 Posted November 4, 2008 Fulham v Newcastle so one of those go above us whilst Sunderland and Wigan have eminently winnable home games this week-end. So its down to 16th- 18th if West Brom and Bolton get extremely improbable wins away from home (Liverpool and Hull respectively). I see Aidy Boothroyd who didn't make the Rovers' final shortlist but was a candidate has parted company with Watford. Not that I'd want him within a million miles of Ewood but there are two young managers doing rather well in the Coca Cola- Roberto Martinez at Swansea and Coyle at you know where.
Hughesy Posted November 4, 2008 Posted November 4, 2008 Coyle isnt doing that great really... what makes you say that? Martinez is because he got them promoted too.
LeChuck Posted November 4, 2008 Posted November 4, 2008 He never said 'great', he said 'rather good'. Burnley are in fourth, which you have to say is rather good. Think Hughesy, think.
cn174 Posted November 4, 2008 Posted November 4, 2008 Wenger is furious!!!! again http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/e...rem/7708886.stm
Tris Posted November 4, 2008 Posted November 4, 2008 Wenger is furious!!!! again http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport1/hi/football/e...rem/7708886.stm Is he the worst loser ever to disgrace the league? It's all a ploy to put pressure on referees who have to deal with Arsenal in forthcoming games - and that's now job done regardless of whether or not the FA choose to censure Wenger for his provocative comments. Which they should do.

Which they should do. Also to deflect criticism from a poor performance by Arsenal
