The referee is booking people for anything. He booked Aguero for shooting from the kick off which he is perfectly entitled to do.

That was just the most outrageous piece of cheating from Gerrard. And the hand-slapping congratulations from another Liverpool player immediately afterwards. I'm absolutely disgusted, but Gerrard is hardly alone in being a diving, cheating sod. Without video replays the sport is fundamentally broken. No more football for me for a while, it totally wound me up.

Yes. Last moments of the game, Captain flippin' Marvellous chases a ball out of the area, leaps into a defender, goes sprawling like he'd been kicked in the back by a mule, screams for a penalty, gets one.

Brilliant. England's finest midfielder does it again. Worst thing is, there's probably only a handful of top players who wouldn't have tried something like that if they'd been in his position. What a joke of a sport this is.

I think it was the linesman who flagged for a penalty....... I guess they are 'cheaper' than referees.

Speaking of refs .... 2 yellow cards tonight that illustrate the stupidity of the authorities. The Madrid guy who got booked for kicking the ball out of play, and Deco who got a second yellow for simply taking a quick free kick when they were chasing the game! And some think McCarthy was harshly treated!

Sometimes those get given, sometimes they don't. Nobody's mentioned the blatant handball by the Madrid defender - the most nailed on penalty I've seen this season - which the referee somehow missed. The linesman had absolutely no excuse though, but as Gordon says, "they're cheaper".

You win some you lose some. Liverpool came out quits and it was a totally fair result tonight.

Dont know whether you are being sarcastic or not, but Gerrard's facial contortions of agony is sufficient to show he is acting, as I doubt a touch on the ribs triggers the reaction we see from him.......

The problem is that the spanish defender does not get the ball and touches Gerrard. Gerrard does go down too easily but technically it is a penalty but it was harsh.

How many of you calling Gerrard a cheat would have been screaming at Ewood for a pen if RSC had gone down like that? I suspect all of you.

Its an absolute ridiculous decision and very clear that its not a penalty - back to the usual of what we all know in that the officials haven't got a clue themselves of what is a penalty and what isn't, which is strange as the continental ones tend to be better than our resident league incompetents.

Agree 100%, I was fuming. Yes Liverpool maybe deserved something, however But for the cheating they wouldnt of got diddly squat! Sickening to see a so called professional like Gerrard cheat like that. I knew what was going to happen before he even left the ground.
