grizfoot Posted November 5, 2008 Posted November 5, 2008 Tony Pulis 1 - Arsene Wenger - NIL ... Classic, he even manages to quote Abraham Lincoln That's brilliant. Why didn't we ever think of that we were getting consistently criticised.

Amo Posted November 5, 2008 Posted November 5, 2008 I read an article where someone was saying Arsenal shouldn't be applauded for being kicked off the pitch against Stoke, since they're trying to play the beautiful game. I can understand that, but they have to realize that not every club has the money to invest in such talent. Why they should they bend over and let Arsenal walk through them when there is millions of pounds at stake?
Amo Posted November 5, 2008 Posted November 5, 2008 Anyone else hear that Sir Alex has thrown his toys out of the pram again? This time at Sky, due to criticism of Wayne Rooney by pundits Phil Thompson and Paul Merson. They each said Rooney was lucky not to be sent off against Everton and Hull respectively. What an idiotic thing to do. Basically freedom of speech is not allowed in Sir Alex's mind.
92er Posted November 5, 2008 Posted November 5, 2008 I wonder if he'll stop doing interviews with them as he has done with the BBC.

What an idiotic thing to do. Basically freedom of speech is not allowed in Sir Alex's mind. He only makes these accusations for the media to forget about his team and focus on their "crazy manager", which removes the pressure of Rooney's and the rest of the United teams shoulders... Arsene Wenger and José Mourinho are two other fine players of this game.

I can understand that, but they have to realize that not every club has the money to invest in such talent. Why they should they bend over and let Arsenal walk through them when there is millions of pounds at stake? A full blooded encounter from fully committed team is all part and parcel of the 'beautiful' game. Not much pretty pretty football about on the day but for anybody who was there who can ever forget the Burnley v BRFC match 17/12/2001? Dirty, dangerous, cheating, diving are to be condemned but there is nothing at all wrong with playing 'hard but fair', in fact imo it is a necessary requirement from my team. Trouble is that I see way too many referees now reacting to a. the speed of a challenge, and b. a big girly scream from some poncey type rather than the actual incident...... Neill on Carragher springs immedietely to mind re: 'a', and any number of examples re:'b' . I know where Wenger is coming from as his teams play some superb stuff but football played on a pitch to 5 a-side rules is not the way forward.
philipl Posted November 5, 2008 Posted November 5, 2008 The BBC's assessment of relegation this season does consider the Rovers. The comments on Ince's management rather suggest the guy writing the piece has picked up some of the stuff that is going wrong at Ewood. It considers that whichever three clubs go down this season will have just been unlucky- not very reassuring.

It considers that whichever three clubs go down this season will have just been unlucky- not very reassuring. It's not the "BBC's assessment" - it's a crappy blog by a B-list MOTD commentator for crying out loud!! And how you can try and pretend that he's "picked up on stuff that is going wrong at Ewood" from these 50 words - Paul Ince's first steps into top flight management at Blackburn have not all been assured. One or two transfers have raised the eyebrows as have one or two results. The January window will reveal whether some key players are ready to be tempted away but on their day they are a very capable side and should not be sweating come May. - is quite beyond me. I have refrained from commenting on your ceaseless bizarre insinuations from mystery shrouded sources about catastrophe behind the scenes this summer, but this is once too much. It's all absolute rubbish.
RevidgeBlue Posted November 6, 2008 Posted November 6, 2008 The bloke actually says We "should not be sweating come May." A fact Philip conveniently overlooks.

Having read the piece I can only assume you have misread it, or read something else, or just fabricated it to aid you current crusade.

Eyebrows have been raised at transfers and results Be fair to Philip because the translation of the article into Maltese was very poor. It was translated into 'Sources at the club say Ince never spent his £100 million transfer kitty so are now certainities for relegation'

philipl Posted November 6, 2008 Posted November 6, 2008 Chocolate-coated, mistranslated etc etc, boy I hope I'm laughing with you all so far as the relegation threat is concerned. I really really do. Anyway for those who follow things in a distant place, at least the Big 4 cannot coast the last two rounds of the Champions League Group stages this season. All four had iffy results this week which means they still have work to do to come top of their groups.
Majiball Posted November 6, 2008 Posted November 6, 2008 And here's todays Man City link: Man City LB Target As changing as the wind.
Ozz Posted November 6, 2008 Posted November 6, 2008 The bloke actually says We "should not be sweating come May." A fact Philip conveniently overlooks. Twas merely a comment on global warming I believe.
RibbleValleyRover Posted November 6, 2008 Posted November 6, 2008 Pulis fears ref backlash "What worries me the reaction we might get from the referee on Saturday," said Pulis ahead of Stoke's trip to Wigan. "When dealing with managers of that esteem people sometimes take their word as being honest and perceive you to be something that you're not. "We are not over-physical and that has got to be addressed." Stoke should be worried as the same thing happened to us after Wenger came out with his overphysical BS comments. A reputation we are still being tarnished with
Hughesy Posted November 6, 2008 Posted November 6, 2008 Correct - our record this season of most fouls and also top of the dirty league is crazy. We havent been dirty this season and we are nowhere near as rough as some teams. We just get punished alot more easily by the ref's due to our reputation.
RibbleValleyRover Posted November 6, 2008 Posted November 6, 2008 Btw can anyone explain this row between Paul Ince and Celtic? Strachan and the Celtic players apparently said something about Paul Ince in their comments after the game. What did Ince exactly say to get them all riled up?
dingles staying down 4ever Posted November 6, 2008 Posted November 6, 2008 Btw can anyone explain this row between Paul Ince and Celtic? Strachan and the Celtic players apparently said something about Paul Ince in their comments after the game. What did Ince exactly say to get them all riled up? Ince apparently said after the first Utd/Celtic game was like watching Men against boys. This upset Celtic apparently. Not like watching Rovers v Utd at all then?
Hughesy Posted November 6, 2008 Posted November 6, 2008 Maybe not, he wasnt wrong however about his views on their 1st game.
dingles staying down 4ever Posted November 6, 2008 Posted November 6, 2008 No but maybe after our performance against Utd maybe he should have kept his mouth shut.
Hughesy Posted November 6, 2008 Posted November 6, 2008 Maybe, but he has only been in the job 4 months. Strachan and his team have been together for years. Even we didnt lose 3-0
philipl Posted November 6, 2008 Posted November 6, 2008 There was a Telegraph article on relegation candidates which didn't include the Rovers which I posted earlier. Then the BBC article on relegation did include the Rovers. The way various folks have piled into me since I drew out that little point of contrast might suggest they are secretly more worried than they are letting on.
