philipl Posted November 29, 2008 Posted November 29, 2008 So we are not 20th but we will in all probability be kicking off tomorrow 6 points behind Wigan, 7 points behind Bolton and a dramatically inferior goal difference compared with both of them. That should be sounding the alarm bells down in Jersey.

John Posted November 29, 2008 Posted November 29, 2008 Good result for Fulham. Hodgson likes his teams to play 'good football' but seems to have a found a balance so far this season. Also, they have had good results against the top 4 teams (or contenders) - beaten Arsenal, drew with Liverpool (away) and drew at Villa (away).
tony gale's mic Posted November 29, 2008 Posted November 29, 2008 Times are bad when we're pleased with Wigan beating West Brom.
SIMON GARNERS 194 Posted November 29, 2008 Posted November 29, 2008 Whatever Megson is giving his Bolton side....can we have some too please Sir?
vintageadidas Posted November 29, 2008 Posted November 29, 2008 Whatever Megson is giving his Bolton side....can we have some too please Sir? Megson got rid of Archie Knox, thats why they are better this season and we have slid to second bottom. Honestly though, he makes them play for the shirt!!!!
roverfanuk Posted November 29, 2008 Posted November 29, 2008 honestly, it's getting hard to show our faces on the streets now. It gets worse. Thats the first time in 3 years Bolton have scored 4 goals away from home... But hey Ince, don't worry. We played well against Sunderland (not!)... Who cares about the points...
Mr Creosote Posted November 29, 2008 Posted November 29, 2008 So we are not 20th but we will in all probability be kicking off tomorrow 6 points behind Wigan, 7 points behind Bolton and a dramatically inferior goal difference compared with both of them. That should be sounding the alarm bells down in Jersey. Why will it? They dont give a ****.
philipl Posted November 29, 2008 Posted November 29, 2008 Why will it? They dont give a ****. That is total rubbish.
Mr Creosote Posted November 29, 2008 Posted November 29, 2008 That is total rubbish. Without wishing to drag this off topic there are many obvious reasons for my assertion. It will take some reasoning on your part for me to change my mind and believe yours.
Billy Castell Posted November 29, 2008 Posted November 29, 2008 At least we'll be in a league where every game is competitive and means something if/when we get relegated. I hate the Premiership. It is not football, but a fashion accessory for loudmouthed ____s. We may end up like Ipswich or Sheffield Wednesday, but at least we wouldn't have to put up with the media nonsense and the dodgy penalties given to Man Utd or Chelsea. In the Premiership, everyone is a loser, even those who come first.

I think I've just read one of your recent postings that suggested you had stopped watching us at the moment.
SIMON GARNERS 194 Posted November 29, 2008 Posted November 29, 2008 We may end up like Ipswich or Sheffield Wednesday We dont want to go there Castell....we really, really dont.
Billy Castell Posted November 29, 2008 Posted November 29, 2008 In which case, will you be attending games at Ewood? I think I've just read one of your recent postings that suggested you had stopped watching us at the moment. I would if I could. I live at the wrong end of the country and have no money. I'd enjoy the day out, even if we lost, as I don't get to see much live sport. I don't watch MOTD if we lose as it would only make me miserable (and therefore a true Rovers fan I guess). And I try to ignore football altogether when things are truely awful, as I'd only be a terrible person to be around at weekends. Who knows, next season, I might be able to go to a game or two whichever division we are in.
frosty Posted November 29, 2008 Posted November 29, 2008 Times are bad when we're pleased with Wigan beating West Brom. Aye, I was thinking that earlier.
1864roverite Posted November 29, 2008 Posted November 29, 2008 Yes Billy C imagine the dodgiest of all penalties being given to Burnley at Ewood in the 94th minute ? That would be fun wouldnt it ? If you take your thoughts that serious your in a terrible state, Maybe a move bck up North where the air is cleaner mgith make your brain unfreeze
Billy Castell Posted November 29, 2008 Posted November 29, 2008 Re 1864: That would be crappy, but that sort of thing happens at Stamford Bridge or Old Trafford all the time. I have just given up caring about whether we stay up, who wins what and the overall state of the game of football. Fans are about as relevent as a customer at a supermarket, presentation, reputation and media brown nosing are as important as results. Maybe it is my bouts of depression, but I have got more important things to be happy about. I have got a job, I am fighting the overdraft monster, and I will be taking up a course in September in order to start a career. So why dwell on the bad stuff when it gets you so down? At least if we go down, next season's games will mean something, and we are not just there to make up the numbers. Oh, and the only connection I have with the North West is my (real) surname. The only times I have lived up north (Kirkby Lonsdale, Carnforth and Bridlington) have been crap times in my life. So I'm staying in an area where people don't punch you in the face for no reason.
1864roverite Posted November 29, 2008 Posted November 29, 2008 Hey Billy, you gotta keep your chin up mate. As for depression? You had better come and sit near the Rev at Ewood, that is really depressing sometimes i can stomach the odd bad decision at old triffid but NEVER EVER against t'trolls
philipl Posted November 29, 2008 Posted November 29, 2008 Interesting that the media are getting the knives out for Roy Keane but Ince is being left alone.
dingles staying down 4ever Posted November 29, 2008 Posted November 29, 2008 Interesting that the media are getting the knives out for Roy Keane but Ince is being left alone. Because Rovers havent conceded 4 to one of the favourites for relegation
Billy Castell Posted November 29, 2008 Posted November 29, 2008 Hey Billy, you gotta keep your chin up mate. As for depression? You had better come and sit near the Rev at Ewood, that is really depressing sometimes i can stomach the odd bad decision at old triffid but NEVER EVER against t'trolls You have to find positive things in your life, and ignore things that don't apply to your immediate health or living standards. Hence the positive stuff about a period in the Championship. At least there will be a clear goal (i.e. promotion) rather than some vague league placing and a cup semi-final. And we might wallop Burnley 6-0 the next time we played them. Who knows? As for Phillipl's point, I think Keane has more of a reputation as a tempramental psychopath, so the media want to poke sticks at him to make him explode. And he has spent a lot of money. Ince still has a bit of kudos from the 'brave' appointment by Williams, and the more obvious novelty factor. I think the media want to give him more time because it has been a big step up.
LeChuck Posted November 29, 2008 Posted November 29, 2008 Because Rovers havent conceded 4 to one of the favourites for relegation With Bolton in 7th and West Ham in 15th, our 4-1 defeat against the Hammers is looking like a far worse result.
thenodrog Posted November 29, 2008 Posted November 29, 2008 Some wise old sage on here was spot on by suggesting that this season will be like 'death by a thousand cuts'. Well it bloody well is!
tony gale's mic Posted November 29, 2008 Posted November 29, 2008 Some wise old sage on here was spot on by suggesting that this season will be like 'death by a thousand cuts'. Well it bloody well is! I'd say it's been a lot more direct than that...
imy9 Posted November 29, 2008 Posted November 29, 2008 Interesting that the media are getting the knives out for Roy Keane but Ince is being left alone. Probably because Keane has spent an absolute fortune on a squad which got battered 4-1 at home to their nearest rivals.
