Sydney Rovers Posted September 7, 2007 Posted September 7, 2007 The only game I'm looking forward to is New Zealand v Portugal and that only to see how crap Portugal will be. As for Australia's chance, they'll get to the quarter finals but no further as the players are too busy playing golf or whinging about their midnight curfew.
Eddie Posted September 7, 2007 Posted September 7, 2007 Still not much sign of it starting here really. Few ads and party buses, but apart from that there isn't too much going on. I'm sure the bars will be busy, but it gets nowhere near to the football World Cup in '98. I have a free 10 pound bet on England, but I don't expect to be collecting anything. I have a feeling that it might be France's year.
dillo_dillo Posted September 7, 2007 Posted September 7, 2007 I'm loking forward to watch! .... I'll try to get up 4am to watch the opening game ...
Bazzanotsogreat Posted September 7, 2007 Posted September 7, 2007 0 it's the all blacks to lose in all honesty though france will fancy themselves being the hosts and you can never rule out austrailia. for the home nations, england the current champions are going to struggle to get to the later stages, wales and ireland could be dark horses and could make the semis with abit of luck and well the jocks.... well you never know home before the postcards? Comon Presty, I know you’re from Wales and al ( but take of your tinted specsl , even though England have been poor , they surely stand a better chance than Wales, remember the game at Twickenham last month?. Wales are worse than England and they have been awful over the past 3 and bit years None of the home nations will do anything, I expect France and New Zealand to contest the final. With Australia just been edged out I the Semi’s. Ireland have excellent backs , but are poor in the tight five- which will be a major handicap and with a generally ageing squad will be the last chance this particular irisg squad has of doing anything in the world cup
blue phil Posted September 7, 2007 Posted September 7, 2007 Still not much sign of it starting here really. I have a feeling that it might be France's year. Hopefully the frogs will sort it out by the time I get to France at the weekend ... I also fancy the onion sellers to win it . Hopefully against the Aussies ... Nowt for England I'm afraid - no flair , no skill , incapable of throwing the ball about enough to score tries against the big boys .
Flopsy Posted September 7, 2007 Posted September 7, 2007 Come on the Argies, utterly brilliant and the French are shocking. England can win the thing (or at least do well) but need to change everything theyve done since 2004 It looks like England just need to click and then we'll be fine, but I've been saying that since 2004 so I'm sure we're due. You going to any games Phil? If so you lucky sod
dillo_dillo Posted September 7, 2007 Posted September 7, 2007 Very wxciting game!! WELL DONE Argentina!! Yeah!! ************* The International Rugby Board (IRB) vs Media (Reuters, Agence France-Presse, Associated Press, Getty and the European Pressphoto Agency) No progress in media row as kick-off looms Late agreement saves tournament cover
American Posted September 8, 2007 Posted September 8, 2007 Hopefully the US part-timers can learn a thing from the Irish cricketers....
Flopsy Posted September 8, 2007 Posted September 8, 2007 The italians are currently being destroyed by the All Blacks. 38-0 after 22minutes
Eddie Posted September 8, 2007 Posted September 8, 2007 Hopefully the frogs will sort it out by the time I get to France at the weekend ... Whereabouts are you going to be?
philipl Posted September 8, 2007 Posted September 8, 2007 Eddie meeting blue phil will be more entertaining than the rugby!
blue phil Posted September 8, 2007 Posted September 8, 2007 Whereabouts are you going to be? South ; Languedoc - wine country Sorry about backing the froggies to do well ...
Eddie Posted September 8, 2007 Posted September 8, 2007 Well part of the French psyche says that they have to start poorly in order to succeed. We'll see if it works out this time.
John Posted September 8, 2007 Posted September 8, 2007 Has anyone put any bets on? I put £55 on Australia to win it outright.
philipl Posted September 8, 2007 Posted September 8, 2007 You are obviously of the school who believes bookmakers are deserving of charitable donations John.
John Posted September 8, 2007 Posted September 8, 2007 You are obviously of the school who believes bookmakers are deserving of charitable donations John. Lets review your comment in six weeks time!
Billy Castell Posted September 9, 2007 Posted September 9, 2007 You are obviously of the school who believes bookmakers are deserving of charitable donations John. You say that, but New Zealand have a long history of choking in the world cup. And Australia have a habit of just doing enough to reach the final, then putting in a performance.
John Posted September 9, 2007 Posted September 9, 2007 Odds 12.5. I am not convinced it is going to happen, but it seemed a decent bet at the time.
Eddie Posted September 9, 2007 Posted September 9, 2007 Yeah, they are my third favourites at the moment, so at that sort of price it is probably worth the risk.
brfc fan Posted September 9, 2007 Posted September 9, 2007 For anyone who didn't know You can watch highlights of England v. USA here.
John Posted September 9, 2007 Posted September 9, 2007 Put £5 on Canada to beat Wales - get £245 if it happens, but unlikely eventhough Canada are winning at half-time.
