Well I never have the time to go as far as the 2317/18 season like some here do (and do you guys sleep, work, eat or wee?) and wait for the might of Solihull Motors gain promotion to the Premiership. What is wrong with egqlitarianism and giving other teams a fair chance. I use the data editor and I'm proud of it so there. Hell, given all the uncertainty and unrest in reality surely everyone would need some escapism.

Neither do I mate, I have to work, drink a lot - and also a girlfriend to see

Ok i've loaded the Weegie update and started a Rovers game to take a look

Just checked out the squad, it has Robinson in there, plus Danny Simpson on loan, Vogel looks a bit crap but he is there also. The budget for a top half finish for me was £18 million, though your status in the game might change that e.g. what your previous background was set at.

Noticed Villaneuva wasn't there so i searched for Villaneuva and guess what i found:

He is on loan at Aston Villa!!!

All the staff are there, Mathias, Winterburn, Mimms, Knox and Tugay in a player coach role. Though their stats are a bit crap.

I'll give the database a go, don't know if i will manage Rovers or not, might start abroad instead for a change or in the lower leagues and see how Rovers fair under Ince.

Not sure why its called FM WeeGiE, maybe the handle of the person who started to make the fan based database updates. Its not an official database update, as far as i'm aware sports interactive haven't released one.

The database file in the link i provided is just over 60mb. I assume Hughesy your game is already patched to 8.02?

On the right Winger front:

Giles Barnes is more gettable because of Derby being in the championship. Theres also Lubos Kalouda, Torje or a guy called Gregorz Bonin. Though your probably know about them already.

You start with £18m but wage budget is at its max!! Also people like RSC is only worth £3.6m or something - This needs to be looked at. Wage structure is set at only £350k per week when in reality we are over double that! Think il have to amend some small details to make it more realistic

Yeah i've moved King Carlos to Rovers, plus gave myself a small but reasonable increase in the wage structure.

Speaking of King Carlos, stats wise he doesn't look too bad, should work out in my formation.

I started last night but quit when i noticed the wage structure. Il amend it all later and make it more realistic. Also you get £18m to spend, but the actual bank balance is only £14m! That cant be right when you think about the £3m compo, Bentley money + the £10m rovers said we had. Think il adjust the actual balance to £25m and keep the £18m pot to spend. Probably adjust wage structure to £600k.

Also need to add Cuellar at Villa and change Roque's valuation (if you can change them).

Finished 5th in my 2nd season with Rovers. I was top scorer in the league but still shipped 50+ goals its really annoying me, how can you counter balance scoring lots with conceding lots!!

I finished 7th then 2nd and won the UEFA Cup in my second season.

I signed Rafael Sobis and he banged in 53 goals in 52 games! Leading scorer in the prem with 33 goals and European golden boot.

Before starting the games I changed Friedel and Robinson around and brought in Edu from Betis, signed Paulo Ferreira and Younes Kaboul, that was pretty much it for the first season. Brought in Sobis and Arshavin for the second season and got rid of Santa Cruz who was unhappy about me rejecting bids for him! Also signed Aurelio from Liverpool for my left side and ditched Warnock who was average at best. Boularouz came in for Nelsen and him and Samba were awesome. Played a formation of 2 centre backs, wing backs, def mid, 2 central mids, an attacking mid and two strikers.

The second season was just unbelievable, Arsenal won the league on 94 points and I finished a couple of points ahead of Chelsea and Man Utd.

Sobis is just awesome in this game and the bigs clubs want him, but even at the start of the season he was happy to stay even though there was speculation. Now with Champions League football even the fringe players are happy to stay.

Derbyshire is a good impact player and I also signed a young Brazilian called Guilherme who gets better and better.

I have just downloaded a zip of the update but when I try to extract it says, windows has blocked this file to protect your computer and have done what it says to do to unblock but the error message still comes up

what I have written bairly makes sense to me but if anyone could help it would be much appriciated

There isn't a scheduled release date as of yet, Play.com currently has it listed at the end of October but this is purely speculation at the moment.

The first news regarding FM09 is expected sometime towards the end of August.

HELP!!!!!!!!

The disk drive on my computer seems to have given up the ghost and is not recognising disks!

ANyone any tips on how to try an get round this so I can play FM without the disk. i.e can I add the data to my hard drive and change the settings some how so it looks there instead?

Best I can suggest is getting a no-cd patch for it. Am not sure whether we're allowed to post links to them so I'll stick one on here and if it's not ok then can one of the mods remove it?

The new features for it are being released for it on the 3rd of September (Wednesday), the game is usually released mid to late October.

Indeed. 2008 was a real let down. The half dozen new features just caused the match engine to cock up, and each patch caused something else to go wrong.

Hopefully with 2009 they will have started again from scratch as I don't think the current platform can cope with any more additions.
