Beta Ray Bill Posted October 3, 2007 Posted October 3, 2007 I think they are a good idea. The scrolling past is less annoying that the huge signatures that some people insist on having. Yes, I know signature viewing can be switched off, but some are funny, interesting or have decent links in them. I just get fed up with seeing the same picture 3 times on the same page esepcially when it's been seen for months on end in every thread. At least the player votes are relevant to a specific thread.
colin Posted October 3, 2007 Posted October 3, 2007 MOTM, I can take it or leave it. It's a pretty pointless award anyway. Just like those points awarded to players out of 10 in the newspapers. We know who has been playing well, we know who has been playing badly and needs to be left at the training pitch to sort themselves out. MOTM is just some kind of "X-factor" rubbish. It really means sod-all. When the PA system at Ewood come out with "The Peter Jackson Man Of The Match Award Has Been Award To ***********" do any of us really care? I don't.

Alan75 Posted October 4, 2007 Posted October 4, 2007 When the PA system at Ewood come out with "The Peter Jackson Man Of The Match Award Has Been Award To ***********" do any of us really care? I don't. YES. I think 1. Are they watching the same game as me. 2. He's been late for training Hughes must have told the sponsors the player needs a new watch. 3. His mum is on the voting panel.
Ozz Posted October 4, 2007 Posted October 4, 2007 The Peter Jackson MOTM awards are obviously biased, I mean a Rovers player wins it EVERY week FFS!
ABBEY Posted October 4, 2007 Posted October 4, 2007 usually a sympathy vote..tonights will be either sav, benni or mgp if they play ..mark my words
b12_simon Posted October 4, 2007 Posted October 4, 2007 The Peter Jackson MOTM awards are obviously biased, I mean a Rovers player wins it EVERY week FFS! They're sometimes political. Those MOTM awards than Barry Ferguson got beggared belief!
Bing Posted October 4, 2007 Posted October 4, 2007 Spurs recently vetoed a MOTM award that the sponsors gave to Jermaine Defoe. It was the game when he'd played well and was subbed so he threw a tantrum. The club wanted them to give it to Tom Huddlestone to boost his confidence even though he'd be pretty poor. The sponsors tried to give it to Gareth Bale instead but the club stood firm and Hudd got it. Ridiculous really.
thenodrog Posted October 5, 2007 Posted October 5, 2007 Should we continue putting the polls for the man of the match, onto the match previews? I can't see another way apart from the way it's being done now. Running the poll seperately from the match previews wouldn't attract enough votes, so I just want to know what the majority of people think. Should we continue as we are now, or would people simply prefer that we abandon the idea? Does it cost owt? If not carry on. When no one bothers to vote will be the time to bin it.

I saw some of that match and how anyone could think Defo deserved it is beyond me.
Fife Rover Posted October 5, 2007 Posted October 5, 2007 I always vote for Big Brad... Ah so that's were his 1 vote keeps coming from!
Ben-2000 Posted October 5, 2007 Posted October 5, 2007 Samba should have been given MOTM last night. At one point in the 2nd half he was that quick that their forward gave up the chase for the ball just as Samba was passing him

ewoodblue Posted October 6, 2007 Posted October 6, 2007 Carry on.They're not doing any harm. I enjoy comparing the vote with the Lancs Evening Telegrah.
roversmum Posted October 6, 2007 Posted October 6, 2007 As I am a great believer in being polite, please note my vote is Yes Please.
Presty On Tour Posted October 8, 2007 Posted October 8, 2007 is someone going to slap a motm poll on the big club thread or what? :):)
tchocky Posted October 8, 2007 Posted October 8, 2007 Yes! If they are taking up too much room on your monitor, consider getting a bigger one! Or get someone to modify the code so that polls can be turned off in your controls. Shouldn't be hard to do.
