Despite dominating the game and taking an early lead with a Marceo Rigters goal, Rovers Reserves dropped two points when Ben Hutchinson equalised 4 minutes from the end for Middlesborough Reserves.

Rovers threatened from the kick off and took the lead on 10 minutes when Rigters converted Tony Kanes cross. Within a short period of time, he was unlucky not to grab a second, when his 20 yard volley thundered off the post. With Rigter running the show, Rovers went close to extending their lead with attempts by Alan Judge and Keith Treacy before the break.

Rovers continued to dominate in the second half, as the weather deteriorated, with attempts on goal by Taylor, Berner and Kane, however they were hit by a sucker punch by the home team 4 minutes before the end; when Hutchinson volleyed home from the edge of the area in to the roof of the net.
