Cocker Posted October 22, 2007 Posted October 22, 2007 Also see that large numbers of Trotters are buying tickets to the Bayern game. Mid-weeks are going to be painful for us Rovers fans. To be honest I don't mind it. I looked at our next game - spurs. They have to play today, Thursday and then us on Sunday where we get a bit of time to recharge the batteries. I know what you mean though it is sad to see bottom of the league Bolton marching on in Europe while we sit at home waiting for the weekend

LeftWinger Posted October 22, 2007 Posted October 22, 2007 Coral have cut John Collins to 3/1 joint favourite with Megson. He's available at 25/33s in other places. Wonder if Coral no something we dont?
Billy Castell Posted October 22, 2007 Posted October 22, 2007 Any of the leading names would be great....................for the opposition. Megson, Souness, O'Leary would all be likely to do a job in stuffing up the Wankies. How about Steve Cotterill? That would kill off two birds with one stone-Bolton would be relegated as Steve would be out of his depth, whilst the dingles would lose a manager who has done a reasonable job for them. Bet it'll be an anti-climax though
RevidgeBlue Posted October 22, 2007 Posted October 22, 2007 I've got 20 quid riding on Coleman at 5/1, but I'd gladly pass up any potential winnings to see Souness take over and take Bolton down. Like they say in the Visa ads - priceless! I think he would take them down as well. Imo whatever he had when he had a successful period at Ewood, he lost some time ago and I could see it being a disaster of Brian Kidd proportions - without an Uncle Jack to bail them out. Bring it on!
Ronin Posted October 22, 2007 Posted October 22, 2007 To be honest I don't mind it. I looked at our next game - spurs. They have to play today, Thursday and then us on Sunday where we get a bit of time to recharge the batteries. I know what you mean though it is sad to see bottom of the league Bolton marching on in Europe while we sit at home waiting for the weekend I probably wouldn't put it as marching on, or at least I hope they don't!
American Posted October 22, 2007 Posted October 22, 2007 If Bolton has the lack of budget being reported, I'd be worried about them getting Souness. He's done wonders when he doesn't have a large amount of money to spend...
daren Posted October 23, 2007 Posted October 23, 2007 Souness also wins silverware, albeit mostly cups. He didn't win anything at Newcastle, but then that seems to be impossible! O'Leary wouldn't be a bad idea. He can't be blamed for Leeds, that was their financial "troubles" and before that he was going very well indeed. As for the rest, his track record is good, he does have a souness-like ability to go off the rails, though.
Presty On Tour Posted October 23, 2007 Posted October 23, 2007 it would certainly add fuel to the fire if souness went on to manage our local rivals. wasn't it us who beat them up geordie land 1-0 and it would be greame's last game in charge of the magpies?
deryck guyler's spoon Posted October 23, 2007 Posted October 23, 2007 Talksport reporting Souey has ruled himself of the Breezeblock job. Getting seriously embarassing for The Trotters.
Guest fernhurstblue Posted October 23, 2007 Posted October 23, 2007 i can't believe that people have contributed 4 pages of waffle about who is gonna be the new boss at bolton ..... some people have to much time on their hands, me thinks
Cocker Posted October 23, 2007 Posted October 23, 2007 i can't believe that people have contributed 4 pages of waffle about who is gonna be the new boss at bolton ..... some people have to much time on their hands, me thinks Thanks for your contribution to the 4 pages
thenodrog Posted October 23, 2007 Posted October 23, 2007 I keep on feeling a touch of sympathy for our neighbours over the moors..... and then I rem that lot on the Riverside and all my sympathy immedietely evaporates.
frosty Posted October 23, 2007 Posted October 23, 2007 wasn't it us who beat them up geordie land 1-0 and it would be greame's last game in charge of the magpies? If I remember correctly, we beat them 1-0 and then they lost 3-0 at Man City the week after.
philipl Posted October 24, 2007 Posted October 24, 2007 Shambles- I think my original adjective was correct.
Alan75 Posted October 24, 2007 Posted October 24, 2007 O'Leary wouldn't be a bad idea. He can't be blamed for Leeds, that was their financial "troubles" and before that he was going very well indeed. O'Leary is in line for the R.O.I. vacancy
deryck guyler's spoon Posted October 24, 2007 Posted October 24, 2007 Coleman holds Bolton talks... for a fee, but could well be worth it. Would be good for The Trotters. I'd be happy with that if I was a Notlob fan
Hughesy Posted October 24, 2007 Posted October 24, 2007 He didnt do anything with Fulham. If bolton are happy to be around 12th - 16th every season then Coleman is there man!
daveoftherovers Posted October 24, 2007 Posted October 24, 2007 I'd be happier if they got someone more incompetent than Coleman to be honest, my heart bleeds for them, it really does ! Has the sweepstake started on who leaves first? My money is on at least 3 out of the following in January: (* = Favourite) 1. Speed * (Dependant on manager wanting to manage on his own) 2. Anelka * (See's a gap in the door and is completely through it) 3. Diving llama * (See above but with more cheating & attitude) 4. Fat Michael Jackson * (Retirement / hairdressing bill has to be cut) 5. Nicky Hunt (For England :-) 6. Piederson (Just rubbish) * 7. Gardiner (Ideas above station) Any thoughts?
Hughesy Posted October 24, 2007 Posted October 24, 2007 But im sure Bolton want top 6 and thereabouts again! Not 6th from bottom. Disagree there, Coleman has kept a side relatively comfortably in the Premier League where in other circumstances they could easily have gone down.
Hughesy Posted October 24, 2007 Posted October 24, 2007 Yeah this season im sure they would but not next season, and i dont think Coleman is capable of providing a top 8 team. They would be better looking at one of Aidy Bothroyd, Ranieri or Paul Jewell.
Cocker Posted October 24, 2007 Posted October 24, 2007 6. Piederson (Just rubbish) * Any thoughts? I thought he had already gone?
USABlue Posted October 24, 2007 Posted October 24, 2007 I am a bit surprised myself at Bolton's top choices as manager. I mean Megson??? What's he ever done really. Coleman? decent but neither would get me too excited. I'd have thought Boothroyd might be in there as a top choice or Jewell for sure. Strange ideas Gartside has.
