philipl Posted October 28, 2007 Posted October 28, 2007 Little stories coming out- looks like Eck McLeish turned down Notlob as did John Collins before they turned to Megson. Wonder if Gartside is regretting not waiting for Martin Jol to get the chop as the Dutchman says he wants to remain in Britain. Anyone who can get that shambolic club to two consecutive 5th places must be a decent manager.

Wonder if Gartside is regretting not waiting for Martin Jol to get the chop as the Dutchman says he wants to remain in Britain. Anyone who can get that shambolic club to two consecutive 5th places must be a decent manager. McLeish was contacted on the Monday and said no to a talk. Bolton went for Megson shortly afterwards. Collins was an approach but not followed up. Hibs would have let him go if he was going to get it - Bolton could not guarantee that. To be fair to them it was not quite the done deal portrayed. If McLeish had said yes they would have spoken to them and then decided between him and Megson.
tcj_jones Posted October 29, 2007 Posted October 29, 2007 To think, if Bolton had decided to sack Sammy Lee just a week later, they might have had Jol as their manager! Jol Intent on Staying in English Football

thenodrog Posted October 29, 2007 Posted October 29, 2007 After the Croatia game McClaren could be around too... Even taking into account the likes of ex-Prem chairmen Rupert Lowe and Peter Risdale I dont think any of em are as stupid and devoid of thought as Brian bloody Barwick.
