A spirited team effort by Rovers saw them through to the quarter finals of the Carling Cup this evening with a 2-1 win away to Portsmouth.

Despite a last minute strike by Kanu, Rovers ensured that they went into the next round with a first half goal from Benni McCarthy and a second half strike from Pedersen.

The victory was however soured with injuries to midfielders David Bentley and Aaron Mokoena who it is feared may have broken his leg.
