philipl Posted November 13, 2007 Posted November 13, 2007 Mike Newell to be interviewed. His social views are likely to be too straightforward and progressive though.
American Rover12 Posted November 13, 2007 Posted November 13, 2007 There's an ale house in Burnley I used to frequent, I met Stevie Cotrill, his money all spent, He asked me to play, I answered him "nay", 'cos I'll hate Burnley @#/?s, 'till my dying day. There's an ale house in Burnley I used to frequent, I met the caretaker, his money all spent, He asked me to play, I answered him "nay", 'cos you'll never be gaffer, till your dying day!

deryck guyler's spoon Posted November 13, 2007 Posted November 13, 2007 Mike Newell to be interviewed. His social views are likely to be too straightforward and progressive though. A favourite Rover of mine especially for his play off screamer against Derby. Seems a character as well. Wont be happy if he goes to the Yahoos.
nicko Posted November 13, 2007 Posted November 13, 2007 I hear Burnley are interviewing four managers tomorrow and will decide from that list. Peter Reid is one of them, Mike Newell probably another. Working on the other two. Think they will go for somebody from the north-west with previous managerial experience. Any help identifying the other two is appreciated...

nicko Posted November 13, 2007 Posted November 13, 2007 Is Souey Cheshire based? That won't be happening.
deryck guyler's spoon Posted November 13, 2007 Posted November 13, 2007 Is Souey Cheshire based? Sounds as though they are going for Paul Jewell. Do they stand a chance?
Claytons Left Boot Posted November 13, 2007 Posted November 13, 2007 It doesn't matter who is on the shortlist - if someone applies and they drive a Ferrari, then they've got the job.
Hasta Posted November 13, 2007 Posted November 13, 2007 Think they will go for somebody from the north-west with previous managerial experience. Any help identifying the other two is appreciated... Where's Stuart Pearce based. If he's still up here he's not going to get a Premiership job any time soon.
JC4LAB Posted November 13, 2007 Posted November 13, 2007 I reckon Preston will be on the look out for someone too very soon..
nicko Posted November 13, 2007 Posted November 13, 2007 Sounds as though they are going for Paul Jewell. Do they stand a chance? Paul Jewell was asked, but is not interested. Stuart Pearce did not fancy Wigan because he is happy at the England under-21s. Chris Hutchings is not in the frame. Is there anybody left? I think Simon Grayson has a chance, by the way. But he might just be geeing up Burnley over a new contract.
Hasta Posted November 13, 2007 Posted November 13, 2007 I reckon Preston will be on the look out for someone too very soon.. Good call. Simpson sacked.
cn174 Posted November 13, 2007 Posted November 13, 2007 I think Simpson going was inevitable. They've had some shocking results/performances of late and last few games the fans have been calling for his head.
philipl Posted November 13, 2007 Posted November 13, 2007 Eleven weeks into the season and the big chop has happened at all the neighbours except Accy Stanley.
Presty On Tour Posted November 13, 2007 Posted November 13, 2007 i think we should keep our own house in order before laughing at the neighbours. my money is on mike newell to take over, either at the dingles or north end!!

Stuart Pearce = physco Sounds like a marriage made in heaven for The Burnley family
92er Posted November 13, 2007 Posted November 13, 2007 Joe Royle has been linked with the Burnley job.
deryck guyler's spoon Posted November 14, 2007 Posted November 14, 2007 They're creepy and they're kooky, Mysterious and spooky, They're all together ooky, The Burnley Family. I really hope we get them in a cup tie so we can sing this... it'd sound surreal if thousands of us sung this together and clicked our fingers! Think it goes more like- "Your father had your mother, your sister and your brother, you're sh*****g one and other, the Burnley fam-il-ee" but your's is good as well

American Rover12 Posted November 14, 2007 Posted November 14, 2007 If we get them i'll fly from college to be at the game.
philipl Posted November 14, 2007 Posted November 14, 2007 Souness out of dingle race because of Rovers connection. Doesn't that rule out all their front runners then?
yoda Posted November 15, 2007 Posted November 15, 2007 from the bbc today "We're a little bit disappointed in Burnley releasing this to the media because just over 12 months ago we spoke to Burnley asking if we could approach their manager, he said no, asked us to say nothing, and we agreed on that," Walker added. "I believed we had the same agreement yesterday. Brian's aware of their interest but why would he want to go to a smaller club anyway. "We want him to stay with us " smaller club and cocked it up!
