Bazzanotsogreat Posted January 2, 2008 Posted January 2, 2008 Maybe it was 60 meters? What's a normal time for a footballer at 60m? From the article despite once clocking 100m in 9.98 seconds

tchocky Posted January 2, 2008 Posted January 2, 2008 From the article Yeah, I can see that. I'm suggesting it may be a mistake. It is Wikipedia after all.
T4E Posted January 2, 2008 Posted January 2, 2008 Yeah, I can see that. I'm suggesting it may be a lie. It is Wikipedia after all. Fixed.
Alan75 Posted January 3, 2008 Posted January 3, 2008 Pretty good right back, although I think he's a bit suspect defensively and did lose his starting spot to Liam Rosenior (sp?) last year. I'm not sure he'd be that much of an upgrade on Emerton.
Oklahoma Posted January 3, 2008 Posted January 3, 2008 Valencia bought Banega which puts Manuel Fernandes close to leaving. He will probably get out on loan and he'll want to guarantee first team status to get ready for a possible participation in the Euro 2008. Rovers should try to get him... Same situation for Maniche, probably leaving Atletico and needs to secure first team status to get a place in Portugal squad for Euro.

I'd imagine Everton would be favourites to get him though, and I'm not sure our resources stretch to somebody of his value
krislu Posted January 3, 2008 Posted January 3, 2008 It really is a shame that we cannot allocate more money for transfers. There are loads of good players out there that is available and would sign for Rovers. As seen before, when Hughes is given some money to spend on a quality player then he often gets his man. Bellamy, McCarthy and Cruz are all good examples...

Nelsta Posted January 3, 2008 Posted January 3, 2008 How about Kevin Nolan.Off the boil at Bolton and i couldnt see him costing that much.

LeftWinger Posted January 3, 2008 Posted January 3, 2008 How about Kevin Nolan.Off the boil at Bolton and i couldnt see him costing that much. I've always thought Nolan struggled in a 4-4-2
Oklahoma Posted January 3, 2008 Posted January 3, 2008 he turned down everton in the summer, preferring valencia (at the very last minute). i cant see moyes wanting him back after he's been snubbed. He didn't turn down Everton, Valencia just paid the release clause (20 million Euros), Everton didn't!
Lathund Posted January 4, 2008 Posted January 4, 2008 Read a list made by Gab Marcotti on the 50 best targets in January (Or the summer, in some cases). Some of the players we could use. although I am aware that it's just pure speculation from my part, and that most of these transfers are extremely unlikely to occur. I don't have anything beter to do right now though, so why not do this? Cristiano Lucarelli, Shakhtar Donetsk. Will be at the club for their CL campaign next season, but allowed to go on loan until then. 32 years old, so not a long term option, but if we lose one of our strikers this window... Willy Sagnol. I've said myself in the past that it's very unlikely, but he's clearly on his way out from Bayern so worth a shot I suppose. Not many better right backs out there, available or unavailable. Miguel Veloso. Admittedly, seen very little of him, but looks extremely good. Holding midfielder, good in the tackle, and can retain possession as well. IIRC Oklahoma has been mentioning his name for the past year or two. I'd imagine he'll go to a much bigger club, but other quality, hyped players have gone to smaller clubs (D'Allessandro, van der Vaart to name two) so it's not impossible. Assuming we have the money, which I suspect we don't. Tiago. Juventus want rid. Admittedly he didn't set the world alight at Chelsea, but I think there's more to come. I'm a pretty useless scout though, so luckily I'm not the one to decide these sorts of things Angulo and Albelda from Valencia. Quality players who are being made scapegoats for Valencias poor results. Would improve most teams, and certainly Rovers. Considering that Valencia do really want rid, the fees wouldn't be ridiculous either. Lassana Diarra. Pretty much the whole Premiership minus the top 4, and I'm sure some clubs abroad as well, would be interested. A very good player, would be a starter in most teams. And finally, one for the summer I guess: Olof Mellberg. Again, unlikely, as I believe he's happy at Villa and would only be looking at a bigger club if he leaves. But he'd be available on a bosman, and is better than any centre half we currently have, so why not at least try? Got nothing to lose.
EwoodGlory Posted January 4, 2008 Posted January 4, 2008 Samba was on Marcotti's list, somewhere in the 30's
Presty On Tour Posted January 4, 2008 Posted January 4, 2008 from lathlund's list, willy sagnol at the right price could benefit us. unlucky to play back up for a large majority of his national career to thuram but has been reliable, has vast experience and is A natural right back.

A part from Veloso, ( who will cost circa 14-16m) we'd have some sort of chance of getting if we can raise abit of capital

He has a release clause of 30 million € and has been linkd with major clubs in Europe. Tiago could leave Juve but it seems things are getting better for him there.
Fife Rover Posted January 4, 2008 Posted January 4, 2008 Samba was on Marcotti's list, somewhere in the 30's I don't think Samba is that old; you must be talking about his Great Grandfather (only joking; I know what you were trying to say)
B.R.F.C Posted January 4, 2008 Posted January 4, 2008 Listed as 37th...here is the article: http://www.timesonline.co.uk/tol/sport/foo...icle3122021.ece
Ricky Posted January 4, 2008 Posted January 4, 2008 Some good targets on that list. Wondered where Tiago was these days.
waggy Posted January 4, 2008 Posted January 4, 2008 i'd be surprised if 30% of them moved on this transfer window
rebelmswar Posted January 4, 2008 Posted January 4, 2008 I liked Benjani Mwaruwari a lot whne he played this weekend for Portsmouth, I suppose there is no chance there though.
Fife Rover Posted January 4, 2008 Posted January 4, 2008 Royston Drenthe 20 yrs old and apparently unwanted by his present Spanish club. Could be well worth a punt remembering his form against us for Feyonoord.
