I'm tired but was it against Liverpool that Cisse was absolutely dire very recently. And Cisse got dropped when Marseille plummeted to the bottom of the French League didn't he?

Please please let this just be agent talk. Besides which if Benni is happy yappy problem child, Cisse is a sullen misery problem child....

i'm just happy theres talk of us having 7.5 million to spend.

I know that is great. I think if that is the amount we have Hughes will stretch it to three players that we NEED as opposed to one that we would like.

For the right price he is a brilliant signing, for that sort of money...not so much. He has a lot of talent and his pace would be great for our side, but he hasn't been good this season.

Im a fan of french footy and always watch it and i think cisse is very similar to bellers.

Cisse has only got 2 goals though this year so far, and when he played recently hes been booed.

I guess it's a matter of trusting Hughes a lot, if he was willing to spend let's say 3 million on Cissè - who we know possess great qualities when in form - I would be happy with that. Bellamy, Benni and Santa Cruz - the three big signings upfront - all three probably tripled their value in their first season. I don't think Cisse is on our radar though, so in a way my arguments are redundant. It's good night, I guess...

What about Carlos Paredes of Sporting Lisbon? They parted company today and he is a terrific central midfielder. The price is right and he is a Paraguayan International like Roque with terrific experience having played 3 years with Reggina in Italy and many years with the Paraguay National team. He is 31 years old but has great qualities.

I was going to mention him. He is free and could be a good short term solution. I have no idea how good he is now because he hasn't played for Sporting Lisbon.

RSC might aprove his signing.

SL Benfica will only sell Katsouranis for 10 million €. I doubt any team will give this much money so, if Rovers try to get him on loan, close to the end of January, Benfica might allow him to leave.

We need to stop looking for short-term solutions and find players who will either be able to fill the position for a while or who will have a sell-on value. If we don't have much money then what is the point in having to replace players in the same position every two seasons.

I'm a big fan of French football, but the idea of spending £7.5 million on a guy that has only scored two goals all season is ludicrous. Cisse was a big flop with Liverpool and his performances for Marseilles don't suggest that much has changed. For £7.5 million you could be making bids for people like Alexander Frei, Mladan Petric, Mario Gomes, Vagner Love, Javier Saviola, Jermane Defoe or Alexander Kerzakhov. If Hughes is willing to spend this sort of money on Cisse, then surely he must realise that are better options out there.

Like Tugay? There are no guarantees in football these days... If he's a free 31 year-old with sufficient quality then bring him in. I don't see the need for sell-on value if the player cost nothing to begin with.

We don't need to spend big on a striker now. Santa Cruz and McCarthy are both quality players who will get you goals if they are given proper service from midfield. Splash all the cash on a central midfielder with a good engine and great passing ability!

Well in my opinion Tugay hasn't really been fully up to it for a couple of seasons. He is still a valuable member of the squad, but he hasn't been a realistic option week-in-week-out for two or three years. The sell-on value isn't the most important thing, but if you're spending money brining in a player to only have to spend more money to replace him in two years then it just seems silly. We need to bring in young central midfield options.

Now that Savage looks like he's about to join Derby,i it's going to be intresting to see what kind of player Hughes brings in now, please no more bloody left backs Hughes we have got plenty all ready

Then again, we'd probably get that (older) proven player for a lot less than a younger, promising one. If the impact is immediate we would see a return on the money in an improved league position.

A very good suggestion. He is playing for Arsenal youth team at the moment, hardly the stage for such a quality player.

Or Lassana Diarra.

The only way we would get him would be on loan i think, may not be an awful shout.
