[Archived] Likely Transfer Window Targets

According to Lancashire Telegraph we are after Koumas and there is a possibility that the deal could be done before the game on Sunday.

Sounds like desperate stuff from Rovers and Mark Hughes hes a championship player at best not too happy with this one.

The Tugay injury is very worrying if it is serious. That means that in a couple of weeks we coud have Dunn and Reid as our only out-and-out central midfielders. Given their recent injury history, or long-term in the case of Dunn, not exactly two players who you want to have to rely on.

Thats why Hughes needs Diarra not championship boy Koumas, boy i'm i losing faith in Mark Hughes and the Rovers at this moment in time.

Dunn is miles better than koumas.

koumas has he good days but more often than not he doesn't cut the grade at the premiership and at international level.

if it happens, hughes maybe able to improve him but i wouldn't want to pay over the odds for him.

Never been a big fan of Jason Koumas either and in MHO Dunn is a much better player to have in your team. Carnt really see us getting Diarra even if MH could summon the money for him, I can see Diarra going to either a spanish or Italian team myself. As has been said before I think MH has to consider letting Mokoena leave and I would imagine that someone would be foolish enough to give us 1 million for his services. Couple that 1million with the Savage fee and a potential 2.5 million fee for Roberts and I could see Sparky having around 5-6million??? to spend in January. With Sprky eye for a bargain I think he could pick up a quality midfielder for around 3.5 million with the remainder going in bolstering up the midfield i.e a youngster.

I think Koumas is quality. The problem with him is that he can't defend - meaning we'd probably need to play the Axe with him.

Another one who cant defend and we have to play the axe with him. Championship here we come!

Depends on how much Bruce wants Koumas. A loan will be free. Or we might be able to swap a player. Or, if Bruce just doesnn't like him, we might be able to get him for a million or two allowing funds for a battler and another striker (If Roberts goes).

And lets not forget that Bruce doesn't exactly like Rovers after Dunn and Savage.

I don't like the sound of it unless it's a loan. Koumas is too like Dunn and isn't better than a fit Reid either. Give Hodge a game if it's a choice of Koumas!

It's also quite shocking that Diarra would be valued around £5.5-6 million and Koumas (who hasn't really done much in the Premiership and is 6?? years older) would cost £3 ish million. Pull your finger out Sparky!

Koumas is a superior player to Dunn in almost every department. He is not the tough-tackling midfield organiser we need in the middle but I would be well chuffed if we signed him.

You're having a laugh aren't you. Dunn may not be the same player he was when he left for Birmingham but he's still far superior to Koumas who has never performed at a level beyond mediocre when playing in the Premiership.

Didn't realise Koumas cost Wigan an astounding 5.3m just six months ago.

He mustn't have cut the mustard at the JJB if they're willing to sell him at nearly half price so soon.

(Even though 3m is still about 1.5m too much)

Extremely underwhelmed at the thought of this one.

This is the worry. We sign Koumas and he HAS to play with somebody who has a defensive mentality, as believe me Koumas is not the man you want when your team are needing to fight. So what does this mean? Unless Reid can stay fully fit for the rest of the season then we're looking at Mokoena being our main man in midfield once he gets back from the African Nations unless we bring in another player.

Koumas IMO has never been more than a half-reasonable Championship player; and that's when he's at his best.

Why we are even interested in him I don't know. I don't even think he is good enough for Burnley. Might just do a job for Accy though.

The silence from Ewood Park is almost deafening

Typical,we always quiet in the transfer windows…its not difficult to see that we have feckall money to spend or hardly any.We as club if we want to break into the top 4 or six on a regular basis and stay there,we defo need money to do that. Its no use we rely on Hughes to continue performing miracles day after day.we need to get some better players in,as it is clear that besides the usual guys those fringe players are not up to standard
