I was always under the impression that Koumas was more a of a play maker than a tough tackling midfielder,a Tugay as opposed to a Savage. With Tugay apparently injured and becoming more and more inconsistent, I'd disagree with those who don't believe we need a player in this mould.

However, I feel that we also need a tough tackling midfielder desperately, and as a priority, in order to replce Savage and Mokoena, while he's at the ANC.

Koumas is a superior player to Dunn in almost every department. He is not the tough-tackling midfield organiser we need in the middle but I would be well chuffed if we signed him.

I haven't seen anything of Koumas really, but I'd doubt that this is true. Koumas has barely played in the Premiership and certainly never set the place alight.

Yes I am as long as I dont have to pass/shoot/win a tackle or run anywhere - oh hang on, we have the Axe for that.

could do with some more strength in depth in that area with those skills cocker, your guaranteed a place i the side for the next few weeks unless you have commitments with the african nations.

I am also prone to injury too so should fit right in

And yet again everyone on here flaps and panics. Its the 10th for god sake, give it time. Some of you must stop eating you worry that much

That's true, but as far as I'm concerned we came into this transfer window with one area of the team that we had to strengthen: central midfield. A third of the window has now passed and so far we have only managed to weaken ourselves in that area, which will be even worse when Mokoena goes to the ACN. Now there is still plenty of time left and we may be working on a big deal that will be announced in an hour that will make the worrying look silly, but right now I'd put my bets on us bringing in some mediocre central midfielder who will essentially be a waste of the little money we spend on him; ie a Koumas.

Where are the dodgy Russian billionaires when you need them?

Probably buying into QPR I guess.

If Koumas is the best on offer, then a slow decline and relegation in a couple of years is a possible.Mind you, maybe Keita/Hodge or another youngster may flourish. when given 1st team action.

Has this been mentioned before - Enckelman joining Cardiff on loan.

Keita is unhappy with his treatment by academy management and wants to leave. The club aren't willing to let him go but seem equally peeved with him and from being the star of the U18s team and one-time captain, he is now a bit part player who started the last game on the bench. He will surely follow Kevin Pezzoni back to Germany pretty soon.

Not sure how Hodge is doing at Millwall but I don't think we'll be seeing any Rovers youngsters making it into the first team CM. Hughes has to look elsewhere.

Not unhappy about Jason Koumas coming if we get him. Everytime I've seen him on the box he's done OK and lets face it for an outlay of 3m we do not want to get it wrong and Sparky will know his strengths and weaknesses far better than those of anybody else in the frame.

I've always been a big fan of Koumas' but I'm not sure he's what we need. Because of his defensive frailties he can really only play out wide in a 4-4-2, but he doesn't really bring the one thing we crave out there; pace. I wouldn't be too disappointed if he came because he's a very good player, I'm just not sure he'd bring what we need at the moment.

Regarding the central midfield area, maybe Hughes is happy to go with Dunn, Reid and Tugay for a month (as well as knowing Bentley could fill in there if needed), then going with those three and Mokoena for the rest of the season. We only have one competition to play in now so we're not going to have a busy schedule, we don't need to bother ourselves with rotation etc. so covering for injuries is the only need for extra bodies. Players going in January tend to leave for inflated prices, maybe Hughes thinks that with our budget we'd be better off addressing that situation in the summer.

Bryan Hodge has returned to Rovers, he might be in the line-up against Bolton

Looked everywhere and finally read that Hodge has indeed returned to Rovers after Millwall's bid to sign him permanently fell short.

Is there really a chance of him playing against Bolton? Would be pretty surprising but a bold move imo whilst Hughes looks for a new signing.

We may not have a choice. Reid and Dunn were injured for the cov game, although whether they can play is unknown. Tugay has picked up a hamstring injury and must be a big doubt. So we have erm  Hodge and Hughes in CM.

Don't know about a bold move, it would be a daft move. There's easier fixtures to make your debut in.
