RevidgeBlue Posted December 13, 2007 Posted December 13, 2007 Not too worried about Ooijer being injured per se, much prefer Nelsen and Samba, but if anything happens to either of those two............... oh dear. Centre back was the position that worried me most in summer.
LeftWinger Posted December 13, 2007 Posted December 13, 2007 Centre back was the position that worried me most in summer. Not too sure why Rev - in Nelsen, Samba, Ooijer and Zurab we've got four good centre halves - and if we're ever playing against an over 75 side - even Sonic can do a job
Sandiway Blue Posted December 13, 2007 Author Posted December 13, 2007 Am i right in saying Samba won`t be at the ACN in jan/feb?
LeftWinger Posted December 13, 2007 Posted December 13, 2007 Am i right in saying Samba won`t be at the ACN in jan/feb? You are correct.
b12_simon Posted December 13, 2007 Posted December 13, 2007 Am i right in saying Samba won`t be at the ACN in jan/feb? That's right. Congo didn't qualify.
philipl Posted December 13, 2007 Posted December 13, 2007 Andre must be feeling jinxed- second time he's got into a fine run of form and been hit by injury. Here's hoping for a quick and complete recovery.
modes98 Posted December 13, 2007 Posted December 13, 2007 I feel so sorry for the guy. Works his way back in to the team, does really well and then bang a hamstring goes. Time to sell him back to the dutch me thinks.
krislu Posted December 13, 2007 Posted December 13, 2007 Just when the poor guy is hitting form again he gets injured. The guy has been bloody useless since the Tottenham game, so the "hitting form" part is something I've not seen. Sorry for him that he is injured but it won't effect us one bit (in a negative way that is).
stuwilky Posted December 13, 2007 Posted December 13, 2007 The guy has been bloody useless since the Tottenham game Oh dear. Do you actually watch the matches?
Sandiway Blue Posted December 13, 2007 Author Posted December 13, 2007 Oh dear. Do you actually watch the matches? My thoughts exactly, the last couple of games Ooijer has been one of the best performers in the side. Must be expensive travelling from norway every game.
rebelmswar Posted December 13, 2007 Posted December 13, 2007 My thoughts exactly, the last couple of games Ooijer has been one of the best performers in the side. I have to agree with you there, he seems to be trying very very hard and doing a good job of defending the last third. I guess that is what come with match experience and fitness.

I guess that is what come with match experience and fitness. It's a damned shame - he's not much kop at full back but looks so composed at centre half.
RevidgeBlue Posted December 14, 2007 Posted December 14, 2007 Oh dear. Do you actually watch the matches? Ooijer looked EXTREMELY dodgy at centre half against West ham. And fairly uncomfortable against Newcastle so like an earlier poster I don't know where this stuff about his great recent form is coming from. He did perform better prior to that at r/b.
rebelmswar Posted December 14, 2007 Posted December 14, 2007 Ooijer looked EXTREMELY dodgy against West ham. Who didnt?
USABlue Posted December 14, 2007 Posted December 14, 2007 The guy has been bloody useless since the Tottenham game, so the "hitting form" part is something I've not seen. Sorry for him that he is injured but it won't effect us one bit (in a negative way that is). I think that's a little heavy, he has his moments where he will scare the hell out of me but he's been quite effective at the back overall.
Anti Euro Smiths Fan Posted February 12, 2008 Posted February 12, 2008 Mark Hughes has suggested that Andre Ooijer has been Rovers' best performer on the pitch recently and he fears that after Ooijer picked up an injury in last night's match against Arsenal, the Dutch defender could be missing for a number of weeks. Link: Hughes fears Ooijer's absence
they_think_its_all_rover Posted February 12, 2008 Posted February 12, 2008 Crap... Samba and Khiza it is then... Don't go getting card crazy lads... we have Mokoena or Sonic the Henchoz as backup centre-backs
Tim Southampton Rover Posted February 12, 2008 Posted February 12, 2008 Crap... Samba and Khiza it is then... Don't go getting card crazy lads... we have Mokoena or Sonic the Henchoz as backup centre-backs I don't think Henchoz is that bad really. He's played well when called upon and can still read the game pretty well. It's just a shame he has the speed of sloth. Just imagine if Henchoz and Mokoena were moulded into one. Mokochoz would probably be one of the greatest defenders on the planet.
1864roverite Posted February 12, 2008 Posted February 12, 2008 isnt Henchoz injured and that being the reason whyhe didnt move to Foolham on a freebie ?
furryfootball Posted February 12, 2008 Posted February 12, 2008 Shame about Ooijer, I reckon he's a decent player
philipl Posted February 13, 2008 Posted February 13, 2008 isnt Henchoz injured and that being the reason whyhe didnt move to Foolham on a freebie ? Yes. Short of Bentley or Roque getting injured, this is one of the players we can least afford to be without.
Lurid Coat Posted February 13, 2008 Posted February 13, 2008 Our most solid defender this season, in my opinion. A huge blow that he's out with an injury again.
