T4E Posted December 23, 2007 Posted December 23, 2007 Football is a game of choices. Continually we make the wrong ones. Emerton is not good enough, Tugay is passed his best, Dunn is nowhere near what he used to be and Gamst defies belief - this is the same guy we had two years ago? I've held off snap judgments during this bad run, but its impossible to ignore the frailties in this team. Too many mistakes, too many passengers. How the players have been allowed to become so complacent is the million dollar question.
1864roverite Posted December 23, 2007 Posted December 23, 2007 wow well we're definitely watching a different game They are much tighter today than Samba and Nelsen have been over the past 4 games in particular. Tackles are being won and Zurab is confident enough to bring the ball out. Thats my view.
Wolves_Rover Posted December 23, 2007 Posted December 23, 2007 Impressed with Zura so far and Brad's excellent save has kept us in it. We have played better in second halves recently, so here's hoping that continues.
Rover Down Under Posted December 23, 2007 Posted December 23, 2007 Well we seem to have turned the crappy performances around, we just need to do the same with Lady Luck. However, I just know that Lampard will get his 100th against us, so we'll need at least 3! Rocky!
John Posted December 23, 2007 Posted December 23, 2007 Dunn, please be careful in the second half. Along with (namely) Bentley and Emerton, they seem to make some really stupid challenges sometimes (when there is no need to).

Tackles are being won and Zurab is confident enough to bring the ball out. Thats my view. Time to drop Nelsen for the City-game. He cost the first goal with his no-look-pass with no pressure on him at all and lost the race against Cole. Time for Samba-Zurab.
Tim Southampton Rover Posted December 23, 2007 Posted December 23, 2007 It's time to test Cech out from long range and make full use of his dodgy hip!
Tim Southampton Rover Posted December 23, 2007 Posted December 23, 2007 I think Hughesy needs to spend a day in training taking corner after corner until they get them right. They've been awful for a good few seasons now.
Tim Southampton Rover Posted December 23, 2007 Posted December 23, 2007 Get Dunn off and bring on Roberts to partner Roque. He needs someone else up there and his power and presence will make us much stronger up there.
Tim Southampton Rover Posted December 23, 2007 Posted December 23, 2007 Hilario replaces Cech. Hopefully the headlines will be: Santa bags the winner against Hilarious Chelsea
krislu Posted December 23, 2007 Posted December 23, 2007 We do get into alot of good positions but there is just no end product! Very frustrating to watch!!
rovers1993 Posted December 23, 2007 Posted December 23, 2007 RSC sooo closeee hilario with a good save.. peds hit post from a corner kick...
rovers1993 Posted December 23, 2007 Posted December 23, 2007 roberts coming on.... wats going on behind the scenes??? mccarthy?
Tim Southampton Rover Posted December 23, 2007 Posted December 23, 2007 Roberts on for Tugay Come on Jase!
Tango Posted December 23, 2007 Posted December 23, 2007 Get a sustained spell of pressure then Emerton does that. Absolutely atrocious.
T4E Posted December 23, 2007 Posted December 23, 2007 Why do we persist with Emerton? He's utterly useless, an absolute liability. Everytime he gets the ball it signals the breakdown of another attack. He's ###### ######.
krislu Posted December 23, 2007 Posted December 23, 2007 Why do we persist with Emerton? Because we got NO ONE who is better!!

Everytime he gets the ball it signals the breakdown of another attack. He's ###### ######. Who else is there though? We've had Reid play there and he's clearly better in the middle. We've had Khiza play there in the Carling Cup against Pompey and he looked dodgy there as well.
Tango Posted December 23, 2007 Posted December 23, 2007 I actually think, since we've gone to 4-4-2 we've looked much, much worse. Nobody seems to know where they're playing and all of a sudden Chelsea's lacklustre midfield is running riot.
