Agree with Damage's sentiment but I feel a MAJOR hike in walk-on prices would scare those away. I suppose it's going to depend on how many walk-ons we currently have. What I'd be tempted to do is increase walk-on prices by (say) 5 quid.

Or look at other 'incentives' as EiT suggests, or maybe a 'package' of tickets (say Lpool, Fulham, Pompey, and Everton) for a fee less than individual walk ons would cost but more than a full ST.

I see what you're both saying but let's do some maths...

Firstly, 5 random tickets to Rovers would not cost £150 (£30 per ticket on average). It would more likely be around the £90 mark at an average of £18 a ticket. Lets say that, going off that average price you paid match by match as a walk on, you went to all 19 matches... 19 x £18 = £342. So you would be saving roughly £100 over the whole year and that's quite good. I'll come back to this point in a bit...

Didnt want to come back in but I must clarify ...........

Pricing scheme that I advocate is a slight decrease in ST price coupled with a significant increase in walkon price to the effect that season ticket is twice as cost effective as walkon. Look at the following ..........

ST ADULT BBEND £250

ST CONCESSION BBEND £125

WALKON ADULT BBEND £25-30-35 depending on opposition

WALKON CONCESSION BBEND £10-£12.50-£15

So, what damage is proposing is that you make extra money AND potentially raising gates by enticing someone to spend a bit more in search of a deal.

After all, we all spend a bit too much at times because somethign we want is on sale, even if we shouldn't.

glad to see someone is paying attention :!:

There was no reduced ST price for Coventry. Maybe with the benefit of hindsight there should have been.

(The promotion tried was a kid for a quid with every full paying adult)

It was an FA promotion, not Rovers. My understanding was that the FA were subsidising those tickets at a selection of third round matches.

And as an aside North End were refused permission to lower their tickets for the match against Scunthorpe, and have now complained as the FA actually gave us money to reduce the prices

It wasn't actually quid for a kid as such anyway. You had to have purchased one full price adult ticket to get one kid for a quid ticket. Any more than one kid ticket or for those on concessions didn't qualify for the offer.

reasonable progress made rb but i will guranatee that the status quo will see us return to the historic trend.

What 'historic trend' Damage?.....the one that proudly shows small town club Rovers spending more time in the top flight than out of it during their long history ;)

No way can the club afford to isolate 'walk-ons' and hit them in the pocket..why are we arguing after all the hard work Rovers have done with pricing this season?

Because despite the "hard work" its not enough to financially compete in the prem long-term. SG194 - you are typically at the head of the attendance whinging line most days, you of all people would know that.

Besdies, from a business perspective, having more "confirmed cash" via ST sales is always better than 'betting' on occasionals showing up in droves 3-4 times a year for income boosts.

So what do you do to compete then? Double the prices in the vain hope that i doubles revenue?

That won't work either.

This is no quick fix measure, everyone will just have to be patient and hope that the fare on the pitch will entice the punters out of the pubs and into the seats.

But as was seen by the lowly 18k at the Reebok on Sunday and the regular attendances of 16k at Wigan, this region is a hard nut to crack if you aren't in a big city with a big following.
