vizcaya Posted September 2, 2008 Posted September 2, 2008 And this time, right when we'd WANT them to come after our manager, you can bet they won't! Stranger things have happened

snatchymcsnatch Posted September 2, 2008 Posted September 2, 2008 The bit that really gets my goat is that when he was appointed some bookies were offering 8/1 on him NOT being in charge one year on. Thought about a punt at the time but decided against it... GRRRR Still - it's a larf though innit?
Billy Castell Posted September 2, 2008 Posted September 2, 2008 Maybe Keegan put £100,000 on that bet mentioned, and kicked up a stink at any opportunity. Waddle, Wise or Kevin Bond would be 'great' choices.
RibbleValleyRover Posted September 2, 2008 Posted September 2, 2008 What a joke of a club and a completely stupid owner.
snatchymcsnatch Posted September 2, 2008 Posted September 2, 2008 Well last time round they had Ant and Dec to be the next manager at 1000/1 - suddenly I'm thinking the odds look very tempting..... Might see what I can get a double on the above with Man Citeh renaming their ground "Middle Eastlands"
Olveres Posted September 2, 2008 Posted September 2, 2008 What a joke of a club and a completely stupid owner. Could the fans turn on the board now?
Billy Castell Posted September 2, 2008 Posted September 2, 2008 Every time I've seen a TV, there has been a crowd chanting 'sack the board'. Football has gone mental.
RibbleValleyRover Posted September 2, 2008 Posted September 2, 2008 Who in their right mind would want to manage Newcastle? Their fans are deluded thinking they should be challenging for the champions league now. They have a skinflint of a chairman who won't spend money even though he is apparently a billionaire and he has reportedly sold players behind his managers back, and to top it all off you have an interfering Dennis Wise in control of the transfer policy. You must be completley mad if you would want to manage this joke of a club.
Mr. E Posted September 2, 2008 Posted September 2, 2008 I hope our board are already looking for a replacement. Ince will be off in the next day or so.
joey_big_nose Posted September 2, 2008 Posted September 2, 2008 I hope our board are already looking for a replacement. Ince will be off in the next day or so. What makes you say that?
DeadlyDirk Posted September 2, 2008 Posted September 2, 2008 It never did look good from the start when Wise came in above him and he seemed to know nothing about it, then he had to put on his PR face and say he knew all about it and gave it the go ahead. Wise would be hated from the start if he came in as they'd think he had something to do with Keegan leaving, which he could well have! Can't see there being that many takers at the moment, Shearer's name will no doubt be thrown around a lot. Moyes since Everton seem to be going a bit pear shaped, but why jump one sinking ship to land on another one? Joey Barton as temporary caretaker manager?
Mr. E Posted September 2, 2008 Posted September 2, 2008 What makes you say that? Because as soon as a top-flight club lose a manager they immediately jump for ours, no matter what else is going on. Especially Newcastle. It's the normal process of things.
Anti-Dingle-Brigade Posted September 2, 2008 Posted September 2, 2008 I'd seriously consider putting money on Big Al if I was a betting man. Ashley knows unless he can blind the fans with the return of a "hero", he'll not be wanted by the big breasted turkeys who stand with him at SJP.
Ossydave Posted September 2, 2008 Posted September 2, 2008 Sky are playing it all down saying he hasn't been sacked and they want him to stay in charge? Maybe stroke boy needs to make a call.
dj54nna Posted September 2, 2008 Posted September 2, 2008 BBC Radio 5 Live commentator Ian Dennis said: "My understanding is that Kevin Keegan has fallen foul of the board over the future of Joey Barton. Obviously he remains loyal to Barton. "The board was quite happy to do a player exchange deal with Blackburn, then they offered a cash deal and it didn't happen. "Keegan had a meeting with the owners last night, he had a further meeting at St James' Park today (Tuesday) and I'm told things were not going well. "As to whether he has walked, I don't believe that to be the case." Anyone just read that on the BBC site? BARTON? IS INCE MENTAL? BBC Link
LeChuck Posted September 2, 2008 Posted September 2, 2008 Oh my word. Possibly deserves a thread of it's own, that one. I can only assume Warnock was the player in the question going the other way, but it went to cash offer when the one Nicko was on about moved elsewhere.
dj54nna Posted September 2, 2008 Posted September 2, 2008 The Newcastle board! Not us! But surely that quote means that at some point Barton would have been coming here?
BuckyRover Posted September 2, 2008 Posted September 2, 2008 Yeah, they "were happy" to offer him to us. We said "show us the money" and it fell through!
gumboots Posted September 2, 2008 Posted September 2, 2008 The Newcastle board! Not us! Does that mean they wanted Warnock and tried trading Barton for him but we said no so they tried offering small amounts of cash and we still said no?
LeChuck Posted September 2, 2008 Posted September 2, 2008 To me, it reads like there some sort of swap deal involving one of our players and Barton, then we changed it a straight cash deal for Barton, but Keegan has remained loyal to Barton (i.e. not wanted him to leave) to the anger of the board. Hoping I'm wrong.
BuckyRover Posted September 2, 2008 Posted September 2, 2008 Does that mean they wanted Warnock and tried trading Barton for him but we said no so they tried offering small amounts of cash and we still said no? Basically yes. But doesn't this sound better: BARTON!!! IS INCE MENTAL??? INCE OUT!!!! THUG
Jan Posted September 2, 2008 Posted September 2, 2008 I sincerely hope we were never in for the toe-rag. Suggests we weren't thank goodness
dj54nna Posted September 2, 2008 Posted September 2, 2008 If that's who JW and Ince were up chasing at 10pm last night, I'm glad it didn't happen. Can we have our club back, please?
Wolverine Posted September 2, 2008 Posted September 2, 2008 I think it means Barton was offered in a swap deal for Warnock, but we declined, asking for money instead, which they refused. However, this is football and anything could have bloody happened...
