Drummer Boy Posted January 20, 2008 Posted January 20, 2008 I think football is better for Keegan being involved again - his teams are good to watch, play in the spirit of the game and I like his honesty and the way he wears his heart on his sleeve. He went up in my estimation when he had the decency to admit he was not up to the England job and did not take a compensation package (are you reading McLaren?). As a manager, he has faults, knows them himself and tries to offset them through his staff appointments. As a man he has a level of integrity and decency sadly lacking in the game today - let's hope his influence rubs off in this respect. I still hate the barcodes with their severe dose of "massive-itis" though!

1864roverite Posted January 20, 2008 Posted January 20, 2008 After the two forthcoming defeats against Arsenal, the gloom mongers will resurface and the hysteria will die away. There is no doubt the cheque book will come out and I see Rovers as being a beneficiary of fat Ashleys cash. several million for Benni to be exact. I reckon he will be the first on his shopping list.
DudeAbides Posted January 20, 2008 Posted January 20, 2008 Did you see them with their stupid party hats on, with the return of king kev written on the front? how lame was that....

I fear them coming in for Betnely rather than Benni. Either way the offer will be big but I will be happy come the end of this trasfer window with all of our first team in tact.

Either way the offer will be big but I will be happy come the end of this trasfer window with all of our first team in tact. Well, they have wingers in Duff and Milner, and strikers in Owen and Viduka - if Emre isn't Keegan's cup of tea, I think their main objective is a midfield playmaker.. plus the obvious 2-3 defenders. Luckily the players they'll be looking at are out of our range.
broadsword Posted January 20, 2008 Posted January 20, 2008 Saw Duff yesterday and he looked very flat, no zip to him at all and not interested in beating his man. Has he just come back from injury?
brian_gallagher85 Posted January 20, 2008 Posted January 20, 2008 ....if so, he's been recovering for the last 4 years!

thenodrog Posted January 21, 2008 Posted January 21, 2008 Rum do this. If KK is to get one half of the players that he is being linked with then Ashley will be 30-40 million lighter. If they'd given Sam the same I'd think that he would have got em in the top 4 too. I really cannot wait for this to end in tears.
Paul Posted January 22, 2008 Posted January 22, 2008 I really cannot wait for this to end in tears. I can't see any of us having to wait past Christmas. The only thing KK really has going for him is that he's the fans' Messiah. If he gives them entertaining football and a decent number of wins at home he will probably survive next season but if the bar codes struggle next I think we'll be back on the "Hughes for Newcastle" trail again..........assuming he's still at Ewood then
b12_simon Posted January 22, 2008 Posted January 22, 2008 we so much for the goals galore at st james park, 0-0! Looks as though king kev has sorted out the defence. Yup. Absolute bobbins. Keegan out! Doesn't he understand the shirtless, jobless nation want entertainment?!?

Apparently it's Ashleys suggestion, must be into selling his shirts again and attending showbiz parties. I doubt KK will stand for that sort of interference for long.

I just hope he emerges from this joke club with his reputation still intact . Good to see him back in the meantime .
broadsword Posted January 22, 2008 Posted January 22, 2008 If they got Beckham then they'll have to put a shedload of "K"'s on back-order for teh shirts

Anti Euro Smiths Fan Posted January 22, 2008 Posted January 22, 2008 I can't see any of us having to wait past Christmas. As Jeff Powell suggests in the article below, it's a safe bet that Keegan will be a goner before his contract is out. Link: "Bet on Kev not staying the course"
Iceman Posted January 23, 2008 Posted January 23, 2008 Keegan, what hype is this all about..he is just as useless as what he was before.
brian_gallagher85 Posted January 25, 2008 Posted January 25, 2008 No Keegan/Shearer dream ticket for the Geordies according to SSN
allanncd Posted January 27, 2008 Posted January 27, 2008 Reports that Toon owner ready to sack Keegan as they have not scored in first two matches and they now realise he is tactically inept. Hughes has been sounded out and will be confirmed as successor before Thursday's transfer deadline in time to take Bentley and Samba.

RevidgeBlue Posted January 28, 2008 Posted January 28, 2008 The tabloid press are exceeding themselves on this one. After several days of King Kev adulation which bordered on the ridiculous they're now starting to stick the knife in just a week or so later. The NOTW today claimed that his revolution at Newcastle was in danger of "imploding" before it started because Woodgate had turned them down in favour of Spurs and an "insider" claimed the players were allegedly dismayed at the quality of his team talk before the Aresenal game. FFS. Although, I must say from a personal point of view Keegan did a radio interview with someone associated with Talksport the night he was appointed and I also saw his post match interview at the Emirates. To me, in neither interview was there any sign of the sort of bullishness and chirpyness that makes him so endearing. In fact, I'd go further and say he sounds like a guy who knows he's made a mistake already. Hope I'm wrong because I like the guy and want him to do reasonably well. Edit: Not as well as us obviously.
philipl Posted January 28, 2008 Posted January 28, 2008 Haven't seen any of this. Of course if KK does get the push after two games, Newcastle will be a model of consistency with a steady hand in the boardroom. Just the sort of place sparky likes to work in. Looking at the Newcastle sites, they seem to be genuinely perplexed that every footballer they care to think of shouldn't be beating a path to St James's desperate to join King Kev's revolution. The fact that Saturday's ko means another trophy-less season hasn't registered either. Hopefully, Arsenal will do them again midweek making them look an even more remote challenger for UEFA/Intertoto.
philipl Posted January 28, 2008 Posted January 28, 2008 The Toon is mighty depressed now! They were all ridiculing the rumours of Wise arriving and its true. Looking at their sites they have cottoned onto the fact that Wise is a long ball kick and rush specialist and are wondering what on earth happened to the highly experienced team that Ashley wanted when blocking Big Al. Funniest comment: "Wise got the job because he's smaller than Keegan". Meanwhilst Leeds fans are giving it "We're a bigger club than Newcastle and calling Wise all the names under the sun whilst a dingle is on there saying he's mates with Steve Cotteril who is being lined up for the vacancy! Pantomime time.
brian_gallagher85 Posted January 28, 2008 Posted January 28, 2008 I could never have dreamt of such a result.... I'm laughing so hard I'm crying
