nicko Posted February 15, 2008 Author Posted February 15, 2008 Nicko are the Asian Based Business men looking to buy Sheffield Wednesday the same people that where interested in buying rovers??? I believe so. Unfortunately their representative does not talk to the press. I do know that they expect to have a Championship club within a week or so...and that the Sheff Wed shareholders/supporters group has been in talks with a mystery group of Asians...and that the agent putting it together is working on signing players within the same time-frame. There is a second bidder for Wednesday, but they have backed off. You can never be sure until a takeover is done, but I think it will emerge that they are the same people. If so, it will be interesting to hear their version of the Rovers interest. Remember, the Asian group after Rovers had previously been sniffing round Derby...they want a club.

Hey Nicko, what the deal with this plummer/keepy-uppy champion Marrow who played for the Reserves last night (from the Sun)? We are making some bizarre signings for the Academy... Ones got to come off. I didn't realise that when you said Hughes wanted young Players who had got their knees dirty you meant it so literally!

We are making some bizarre signings for the Academy... Ones got to come off. I didn't realise that when you said Hughes wanted young Players who had got their knees dirty you meant it so literally! From the Mirror - and previously the Sunday People - but a nice little story that was mentioned a few weeks back. The kid Alex Marrow won a ball-juggling competition at the Trafford Centre and somebody tipped off Rovers. He played for the academy and then was on as a sub for the ressies last night. It's a cracking little tale. And my usual respect to the sources who put me onto this one some time ago... Hope the kid does well. He's only 17 or 18, so he could have slipped the net - and now been caught.
rover6 Posted February 15, 2008 Posted February 15, 2008 Kevin Blackwell's straight out of the Micky Adams school of management. All posturing, soundbites, crummy 33 year old freebies and long ball tactics - oh, an egomania, but that goes without saying because he's a manager. HOWEVER, those traits may get him quite far in the league that is the Chumpionship. If he gets the right people around him and gets off to a good start, he could last a while. Neil Warnock's Crystal Palace are doing quite well and apparently they play atrocious football.

nicko Posted February 15, 2008 Author Posted February 15, 2008 But how's he look in a game, he play well or what? No idea, didn't see the ressies v Man U. But he must be making progress to step up - although it was a young second team last night.
PAFELL Posted February 15, 2008 Posted February 15, 2008 No idea, didn't see the ressies v Man U. But he must be making progress to step up - although it was a young second team last night. Not being up to date with your past posts, but did you not say Rovers are looking at a midfield player who wants to leave his club and the club are happy to let him go - I am wondering if that could be Charles N'zogbia - who I believe has been quoted in the media, as being unhappy at his club.

Don't tease, that'd make too much sense.
LeChuck Posted February 15, 2008 Posted February 15, 2008 No way will it be N'Zogbia. He's not unsettled because he's not playing, he's unsettled because he thinks Newcastle aren't good enough for him anymore. We're not a step up for him at all, there's no way he'd come, and even if he would there's no way we could afford him. There will be far bigger and richer clubs after him than ourselves.
Oklahoma Posted February 15, 2008 Posted February 15, 2008 According to newspaper "O Jogo", Blackburn Rovers had a scout in yesterday's game Benfica - Nuremberg. Any news on who they might be watching?
Guest fernhurstblue Posted February 15, 2008 Posted February 15, 2008 so the break for those knocked out of the FA Cup is upon us ..... Burnley in Ireland, Rovers in the USA - yes Mr Nixon, the gap really is closing

I think you might be confusing this with the Steve Sidwell story...he's the one who wants out, whose club wants to let him go...but who will be going to West Ham.

Any news on who they might be watching? No idea, but Cardozo is a terrific striker. The chief scout was at France v Spain last week too...but if Rovers can afford any of the players from that match then they must have struck oil at Brockhall.
Brfcrule1 Posted February 16, 2008 Posted February 16, 2008 Hi all, after reading those asian business men were after buying sheff weds. I say that is just as well they are obviously after a club that is not obviously worth a lot as they are bidding 15m for sheff weds. Would've questioned where they would have got the 55m to buy us out as it seems they want to spend as little as possible and make a huge profit on their investment. I get the impression with all the hold-ups they prob thought they could buy us for pennies when in reality we are worth much more than people are prepared to pay. laters all.
ransome Posted February 16, 2008 Posted February 16, 2008 why did leicester release hossein kaebi?, he hardly got a chance.

broadsword Posted February 16, 2008 Posted February 16, 2008 Gap shuts at about half five, doesn't it?
PAFELL Posted February 16, 2008 Posted February 16, 2008 No way! This is the Nicko thread where we can all ask Nicko any questions on any aspect of football and he can answer or introduce other topics as well just as any other member of BRFCS can. It is a general free-for-all thread and let's keep it that way. You don't have to read it of it doesn't suit you. I totally agree.
blue phil Posted February 16, 2008 Posted February 16, 2008 why did leicester release hossein kaebi?, he hardly got a chance. Early release for Hossein eh ? .....sounds about right

modes98 Posted February 17, 2008 Posted February 17, 2008 Coventry striker Michael Mifsud is being tracked by Blackburn Rovers. Any comment Mr Nixon?
Hannah Posted February 17, 2008 Posted February 17, 2008 Coventry striker Michael Mifsud is being tracked by Blackburn Rovers. Any comment Mr Nixon? I would have serious concerns about that having watched him several times this year. He stands out in a rubbish Coventry team as being good and having watched him play against some other poor championship team he looks quite exciting. Making excellent runs at players and creating lots. Yesterday he kept running into trouble and then being easily knocked off the ball by WBA who are certainly not premiership standard. I said to my friend who I was with yesterday that he is a good championship player but I really can't see him making the transisiton to premiership.
