Coventry striker Michael Mifsud is being tracked by Blackburn Rovers.

Any comment Mr Nixon?

It's been written a few times before and that makes me wonder if there is something to it.

Mifsud is sharp and quick about the box. He can score a goal.

I wouldn't say he would be ideal to lead a Premier League attack, but he would be a very handy squad man.

So, while I can't confirm it, I wouldn't dismiss it as an idea.

There is a slightly strange story in the Sunday People about Man City and Bentley.

Now, as those who have not done a Burnley boycott will tell you, that was also in the same paper last week...

As far as I know Bentley will sign a contract to stay despite Sven's interest.

I find it odd as I knew about City for a month before I wrote it last week and now the same story is going around and around and being re-printed.

Must be the power of the net. ;)

Got mixed feelings about him. I agree with Hannah that he is lightweight but he certainly did the damage at Ewood and Old Trafford and in international matches, most oppositions struggle to deal with him- a full strength Turkey desperate for three points when they came here could not cope.

There again, Malta now sometimes play three flyers up front, not just Mifsud so a lot depends on the chemistry with the other striker and the quality of balls played through.

It is one of the mysteries of this season that what on paper should be a better passing midfield than two years ago consistently fails to pass to Roque and Benni with any quality yet we produced gems into channels for Bellamy. I suppose if Roque/Benni with Bellamy was a dream ticket, Mifsud could be a poor man's Bellamy.

Mind you the rich man will have ended up seeing about 200 minutes of Bellamy all 2007/8 season... didums.

I know these sorts of decisions are 100% about football but Michael Mifsud is a really nice guy when you meet him.

The reporter is the son of a legendary (allegedy) fisherman so maybe young Piecha was angling for a big scoop or sale for his story.

Lets take the report into context.

IF City were to table a bid for Bentley then they would have to start looking at a realistic offer of some 15m just to get Rovers interested. He is that good a player, he is English and that is the minimum figure that could be expected to be received in transfer fees in todays day and age. 10m reported by Piecha is a pie in the sky figure compared to what they have aready spent on foreign players.

I saw that story in today's People and dismissed it as regurgitated garbage ;)

Nicko, do you know if we are still interested in Leroy Lita?

In the People today: Leroy Lita is set to sign for Middlesbrough at the second time of asking.

There is something seriously wrong with Lita's position at Reading. He is stuck in the reserves and scoring loads while the first team can't get a point in the Prem.

Maybe there has been a fall-out and probably the fact that his contract is running out. Combine the two and you have a player who will leave in the summer.

Reading want fortunes, but he is an interesting one - for a lot of clubs.

I'm in favour of signing this guy as he's proved that he's a goalscorer at various levels. In a way i'm glad he isn't a player who is considered 'the complete player' who has everything. I like it when teams have a striker who literally is there to score goals and not have all the extras of drifting wide and coming back to help the midfield etc. A man who scores goals is the man who wins people games.

"Blackburn tracking 5m Coventry star".. ridiculous. He's no better than Derbyshire.

He is very pacey and has an eye for goal. The game he played against us he torn us apart. The problem he has is he drifts in and out of games. So one game he will get 2 or 3 and look premiership quality and then for 6 or 7 games he will just vanish.

If you wanted to take a punt on a championship striker who is untried at premiership level then he could be your man, but at £5m i would have to look elsewhere first.

Lita would be an excellent signing for us, however clubs with deeper pockets than us would / will snap him up in the summer ..... a pity but a reality.

i agree..lita would be an excellant signing for us-abit pricey, but with him being only young, and english i think he could be a worthwhile signing..

i think blackburn missed out on one hell of a defender-gary cahill..bolton have got a good one there..i know he wasnt playing for villa-but he looks a great player, he will be in england squad soon no doubt..

Wheater of Middlesbrough looks the one to watch and go for especially as his contract runs out in the summer.

Missed out? They paid 5 million pounds for him, didn't they? That's more than our defensive four cost altogether.

True. Big Club were also very interested in Cahill. We'd not win a 3-way bidding war if our finances are truly as tight as we've heard they are.

He'll likely be tied into a new contract soon. He'd cost a fortune.

If he iss out of contract in the summer he can talk to teams now. So if the wage package was good enough to tempt him away you would get him cheap. He played well against us and has most of the times i have seen him play on tele.
