PAFELL Posted March 5, 2008 Posted March 5, 2008 Push for 6th will do my Betfair account, thanks. If this guy is fit and interested then it won't just be for this season, but also beyond. I'll leave the fitness question down to the experts. There is NO doubt about his ability. About what age is this player? Has he been a goal scoring midfield player or is he a creative type player ?(Tugay type)

LeChuck Posted March 5, 2008 Posted March 5, 2008 About what age is this player? Has he been a goal scoring midfield player or is he a creative type player ?(Tugay type) Nicko might as well give us the name if he answers that.
nicko Posted March 5, 2008 Author Posted March 5, 2008 About what age is this player? Has he been a goal scoring midfield player or is he a creative type player ?(Tugay type) Still close to his peak...creative type...but there's only one Tugay really. He joined you at a similar stage in his career.
RibbleValleyRover Posted March 5, 2008 Posted March 5, 2008 Looking forward to hearing at 10pm or onwards tonight who it is. Hoping Sparky has found another one of his 'Gems'.

BiggusLaddus Posted March 5, 2008 Posted March 5, 2008 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Johann_Vogel Was the little addition at the bottom someone on here?
LeChuck Posted March 5, 2008 Posted March 5, 2008 http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Johann_Vogel Was the little addition at the bottom someone on here? I never looked at that before I guessed, I swear! Seems that was edited on March 3rd, so someone has either had a lucky guess/knows something/got it completely wrong. I can't see any other player who fits the profile given by Nicko. If Vogel is fit he'd be a good signing, he's certainly got the pedigree. Then again, so did Dino Baggio...
BiggusLaddus Posted March 5, 2008 Posted March 5, 2008 If it is Vogel, we'd better not play him up front like with did with Baggio then...
Pinch Posted March 5, 2008 Posted March 5, 2008 I hope Nelsen comes back and is able to play the way he used to, but i fear he won't and if he does he may suffer from Dunn syndrome. Could you explain a little more about "Dunn syndrome"? I think I know what you mean, but I'm interested to hear your take all the same.
Sandiway Blue Posted March 5, 2008 Posted March 5, 2008 I doubt it is Vogel,Nicko said close to his peak, also creative.I don`t think there are too many creative defensive midfielders knocking around! Except of course our very own Mokoena!!!
roversmum Posted March 5, 2008 Posted March 5, 2008 Bad news about your old boy Joe Garner at Carlisle. He's got a serious knee injury and needs an op - months out by the sounds of it. I suppose some will say he should be sold in those circumstances... Poor lad, what a blow. All the best young Joe.
LeftWinger Posted March 5, 2008 Posted March 5, 2008 I doubt it is Vogel,Nicko said close to his peak, also creative.I don`t think there are too many creative defensive midfielders knocking around! It sounds like Vogel to me. Joining at a similar stage of career as when Tugay joined us - played for decent clubs around Europe (Milan, Betis, PSV), he's available on a free, doubts over fitness - no club since December. He ticks the boxes.
broadsword Posted March 5, 2008 Posted March 5, 2008 I doubt it is Vogel,Nicko said close to his peak, also creative. Maybe he likes doing water colours, or perhaps he's banged out the odd papier mache sculpture.
philipl Posted March 5, 2008 Posted March 5, 2008 Having started at Grasshoppers, he should at least know how to pass to a blue and white halved shirt.
krislu Posted March 5, 2008 Posted March 5, 2008 Vogel sounds like a decent shout. When you take a close look at our situation it is very clear that Hughes have absolutely no faith in Tugay or Mokoena. Just look at the Newcastle game for more proof on that! It will be extremely surprising if Tugay is given a contract extension or if we dont sell of Mokoena in the summer.
LeChuck Posted March 5, 2008 Posted March 5, 2008 When you take a close look at our situation it is very clear that Hughes have absolutely no faith in Tugay or Mokoena. It's also very clear that Hughes knew all along we needed another player in central midfield, no wonder he kept hinting about lack of funds and frustration in almost every January interview. If we don't back him soon he'll be off, we can't expect him to scrape the barrel and pick up whatever everyone else doesn't want.
RibbleValleyRover Posted March 5, 2008 Posted March 5, 2008 I think its pretty obvious that Hughes wasn't/isn't happy with our depth in central midfield. I think it was made clear when we have quite often this season played a 4-5-1 system rather than a 4-4-2 system.
Bachoven Posted March 5, 2008 Posted March 5, 2008 another midfielder currently a free agent is: David Albelda who was released by ronald koeman when he took over Valencia But he has also been strongly linked to Ramos and Spurs
herbergeehh Posted March 5, 2008 Posted March 5, 2008 Vogel is due to join Blackburn Rovers on a short term transfer before the free transfer deadline are closing. Jerkoffs, who has changed his Wikipedia profile?
Russ Posted March 5, 2008 Posted March 5, 2008 I never looked at that before I guessed, I swear! The Vogel link seems to have come from Sky Sports 'Paper Talk' rumours bit, this guy must have good links if it's true? (or just a REALLY lucky guess) Check out the date it was posted: "Gary Parker (Blackburn Rovers fan) says... Johan Vogel to join Rovers this week till end of season with a veiw to an extended contract! free agent since he was released from Real Betis... Posted 19:39 29th February 2008"
Guest Kamy100 Posted March 5, 2008 Posted March 5, 2008 Lancashire Telegraph are saying we are after a midfielder who is set to play in Euro 2008 so it could be Vogel: http://www.lancashiretelegraph.co.uk/sport..._midfielder.php

nicko Posted March 5, 2008 Author Posted March 5, 2008 Johann Vogel it is. Been over today for a 'test' and thinks he is going to sign. Decent player but hardly played for a year. He was in dispute at Real Betis and was due to sign for Everton last summer until they found there was a fee on his head. Now a total free agent. Interesting to see if he is fit either for now or next season, that's for the staff to decide. By the way, there is no point rying to keep things quiet around here. Still, it whiled away a few hours. Tedious, eh?
herbergeehh Posted March 5, 2008 Posted March 5, 2008 So he's already been over?? Brilliant news! Allround midfielder, capable of defending and also a good passer of the ball. Love it! Any reason why the deal won't go through, Nicko?
RibbleValleyRover Posted March 5, 2008 Posted March 5, 2008 Worth a gamble, as we badly need some central midfielders in particular a defensive one (yeah there is Moko, but i think he's rubbish). He must have some talent if he has played for the likes of PSV, Milan and Betis.
