EwoodGlory Posted March 9, 2008 Posted March 9, 2008 By the way, did anybody see Queen of the South's second goal last night...magic. How many yards was that
1864roverite Posted March 9, 2008 Posted March 9, 2008 70 yards. I wonder if the young lad has aspirations of his career taking off like a certain David Beckham after his Wimbledon half wayer ? BTW Nicko The story linking CFC with £10m bid for Bentley surely has to be a no-brainer as they would undoubtedly start the bidding with a £15m opening offer. I almost read yesterdays Mirror as I waited for my lad to get ready last night, one his mates had left it around the house. I just couldnt bring myself to open it though
nicko Posted March 9, 2008 Author Posted March 9, 2008 Nicko - heard anything on West Ham planning to sack Curbishley? I know there are a few moans about the way they are playing, but it's a bit harsh considering the injuries he has got to the players he signed. But if they want to sign others in the summer - starting with Sidwell - then they better have confidence in the manager or there's no point in buying his targets.

I just couldnt bring myself to open it though To find the middle of the goal from that far out in the last minute of the biggest Cup tie of your life...amazing. Chelsea DON'T want Bentley. Full stop. Don't worry, you will still be buying it every day next year when my Burnley promotion bet comes off. I never forget. ITV4+1 is worth watching just now for an old episode of The Big Match. Keep an eye out for the credits at the end too... Got a game to go to.
Hannah Posted March 9, 2008 Posted March 9, 2008 http://www.saintsfc.co.uk/articles/article.php?page_id=9844 I have looked through some of the papers and can't find anything about it! Who has been naughty and what have they been up to? Has anyone seen the article?

John Posted March 9, 2008 Posted March 9, 2008 In the People today: Middlesbrough boss Gareth Southgate will be handed a £20m transfer kitty in the summer. Boro in the money of all of a sudden?
1864roverite Posted March 9, 2008 Posted March 9, 2008 At 2-0 dpwn at home to Cardiff I dont think Mr Gibson will part with £20m to Mr Southgate
rover6 Posted March 9, 2008 Posted March 9, 2008 Gareth Southgate would be better of splashing the cash on another holiday home. It'd be just as useful to Boro as new signings because his management is abject.
Brfcrule1 Posted March 9, 2008 Posted March 9, 2008 Hi all, just read the mirror article I think it's absolutely sick someone who earns tens times more money has to go out and steal from someone who is much poorer than them makes me sick how they condone this behaviour hopefully the saints will reprimand them and fine them a lot of wages think the club need to do the right thing to set an example. Laters all.
thenodrog Posted March 9, 2008 Posted March 9, 2008 BWP's agent said they were 'relaxed' about it as the vid didn't show him taking anything. Well how about taking the p1ss out of SFC and their fans by being out till 4pm Thursday before a Saturday match against Ipswich?
nicko Posted March 9, 2008 Author Posted March 9, 2008 Clip of 70 yard goal That just gets better every time you see it. Makes me laugh that people complain about Wigan's pitch and you see a part-timer able to ping a 70-yard shot like that on a farmer's field. Funny old game.

Was Bendtners challenge that got a yellow card any less intentional than Taylors last week, or indeed was Carvalhos yesterday ? OK when its the big boys are giving it out. Thats what makes me "laugh". If either of those 2 challenges were by a Rovers or Wigan player, they would have been red.

Bendtner's tackle wasn't even a foul. The ball was there to be won. Styles had a bad angle and over-reacted. It's a bad day when you can't try to win the ball and go for it hard.
brian_gallagher85 Posted March 9, 2008 Posted March 9, 2008 Exactly, it was a bloody joke of a decision
Ewood and I Would Posted March 10, 2008 Posted March 10, 2008 So, what's on Tribalfootball today? Cheslea planning a £10m bid for Bentley as he is apparently stalling on contract talks. Blackburn are looking to bring in Fenerbahce's Uğur Boral (replacement for Pedersen?), Porto's Bruno Alves and Getafe midfielder Esteban Granero. Nicko?

I couldnt believe it being called a foul let alone a yellow. all he did was to dive for a loose ball. It was actually Bendtner who was kicked on the thigh.....
AggyBlue Posted March 10, 2008 Posted March 10, 2008 Cheslea planning a £10m bid for Bentley as he is apparently stalling on contract talks. If we got 15M for him this summer I'd be well chuffed. To make the wholesale changes that are needed Hughes will have to raise the cash through sales. Bents, Benni and Peds being the most saleable. All can leave for me.
Hughesy Posted March 10, 2008 Posted March 10, 2008 Noooooo selling your best Asset isnt the way forward. Id much rather see us sell someone like Roberts, Mokoena, Henchoz and Gallagher than sell one of our best players. I think this summer is a big year for us. We didnt spend alot of money this year and alot of other competitors did, so its time to really make sure we get this one right. We dont want to get left behind the likes of Everton, Villa, Pompey, West Ham & Spurs, but we also dont want to do a Leeds. I think this summer is vital that we keep our core of better players but sell a couple of the lesser ones, in order to allow us to improve. Looks like we might be scouting quite a good few players so it should be interesting.

What does £15m get you at todays prices? Chopra, King and Koumas? You can't sell someone of Bentleys quality for 15m. If he gets to be a regular in the England squad - and performs like he did on his last England game regularly - he'd be worth 25+.

Hughes would sign better players than Chopra, King or Koumas and you know it. For 15M he could sign 3 top players. Would I swap Bentley for three top players...Yes I would.
